11 Wealth is about $2 million a year, enough to ensure a nice standard of living! Probably a ferrari, a few houses, expensive hobbies (gambling, throwing parties) and buying stuff most people would raise an eyebrow at. Paintings and the like.

Wealth is too high. He is the personal assistant/Bodyguard for Mannering, who is the millionaire. Putting his wealth in the 7-9 range is more accurate.

Also, I thought for this adventure 10 was the highest damage he was allowed?

Maybe I am just misunderstanding the power but doesn't Mystic Linking Air Control mean that Aura is now its AV/EV instead of Int? And that way it would be used against a foe's OV/RV for Influence and Spirit instead of using the foe's Dex/Body?

I think we are getting there.

All mystic link does is tag a physical/mental power as 'magic' in case the target has a vulnerability to magic and change the link stat to Aura. I'll drop Aura to 10 drop wealth to 8 and may be able to drop some of those drawbacks. I'll have a look.

Edit: the latest version of Mystic link links to the appropriate acting/effect/resistance attribute for mystical attributes, I stand corrected.

if there are enough points left over, keep the drawbacks as it and use them to raise skills in this order if possible - Martial Arts, Military Science and Occultist.

Messages crossed. Postcognition isn't a huge amount of points nor is detective but if you want to drop them might be able to raise the skills by a point or so.

Detective is a nice idea. Hadn't considered that or avoided it since Haunt has it. But let's put it on the backburner for now.

Don't think I will take Postcognition, instead, let's go with Comprehend Languages. Let's go with somewhere between 2 and 8 for levels and add in Comprehend Written Languages as well, +1 FC. Base cost is lower than Postcog but FC would be higher with Written Comprehension.

Being both a world traveler with Mr. Mannering and a journeyman magician, being able to speak and read a lot of different languages seems like something he should have.

Comprehend languages (if you roll a 4 or less you can't use it for an hour) at 12APs, which is handy for alien languages and includes written, plus at that level should be fine for long dead scripts found on scrolls made of human flesh etc

The 14 points left over are not enough to raise any skill by more than a point BUT it will be enough to raise any stat from Dex/Str/body or Int/Will/Mind by 1 point which I would recommend (far cheaper now than later)

Since he doesn't have any real defense, Magic Shield only works against magic if I read it right, I'm thinking either Dex to avoid being hit or Body to stay on his feet a bit longer. And no regeneration either. Later, maybe he will learn a healing spell.

So put it in either Dex or Body, whichever one you think, with my dice rolling luck, will help me the most.

Dex is by far the best stat in this game. Attack and defence in physical combat? All very well being strong but if you don't hit... all very well being tough but if you get hit all the time... etc.

At some point I am going to give myself a kick up the ass and start writing the 'Vanguard' version of the DC Heroes rules. That will include (for example)...

Having to purchase Fighting (Melee Acting Value used to hit) Defence (Melee Opposing Value used to avoid blows) and the same for ranged attacks, mental attacks and mystical attacks. It irks me that someone with low intelligence (like the Hulk) is a walkover for someone with mental powers when the opposite is true. Sure Loki and others have done it but they are master magicians.

Having to buy an Acting Value an Effect value and a range for every power so Energy blast would be listed AV8/EV12/R3 so Acting Value is 8, Effect is 12 and Range is 3. You'll also be able to buy a skill for that power that gives you dice to roll when using it and special effects so for the above it might be Energy blast AV8/EV12/R3 Fire Effect (melts or combusts certain materials with RAPs vs Resistance for one round after) Skill: +2 Dice

Skills will be FAR more expensive but they are a zillion times more useful with our current house rules

For now I will boost Dex for Prof Wynde and post the final character sheet. After I've changed computers (posting from the Windows 10 machine...) Looking at the change in powers its leaning more towards the Champions/Mutants and masterminds approach but I'm more than aware of how clunky/fiddly the character creation for those games is and will make sure it never gets that complex/hard to make a character and remains compatible with DC Heroes write ups.

I would like to suggest you look over the Superbabes rules. I know you like complicated rules and these are relatively simple in many ways but they may have a few ideas as to powers, skills, gadgets rules, etc. It's a D20 system.

The biggest problem in my mind to this set of rules is that your energy to move and fight is the same energy that you use for Hit points. So a level 1 martial artist could move, fight and absorb damage for 2-3 rounds and then run out of energy and need to rest, recovering I think it is 5 energy per round of rest. No very realistic for a comic book RPG. They also used very cutesy names for their powers and stuff and their Luck was called Bimbo Points, because hey! it was based off of Femforce, a comic book about a all female squad of heroes who ran around in skimpy outfits fighting crime all under the guise of the Good Girl Art style of the late 1940s. But for all of that negative views from their distractors, they were actually an extremely competent group, more so than any other supergroup in their universe.

Tweaking that might have made a better game. Maybe setting up energy to fight and move separate from absorbing damage. Maybe having them be of equal value. I have a RAR file of the game but can't attach it to any notes here or trying to use your Admin email.

Sent you a PM. Rather than change system I'm all for tweaking and making the game our own and all with the aim of speeding up the crunch process so as to get on with more of the gaming stuff which we all enjoy. I know Dave E doesn't much care for the crunchy parts and rightly so - play by post isn't anything like face to face when resolving tasks and I work with you guys if there is something you don't know about. In other words you say what you want to do, I work out the crunch and whether you succeed.

Don't want to get the game crunchier, rather refine and tweak to make sure characters are unique. Two characters at the moment with Energy Blast 12 are the same. Two characters under the proposed tweaks/rules might be vastly different. One might have a better aim (Acting value 12) but do less damage (Effect Value 8) and the other might have worse aim (Acting Value 9) but do more damage (Effect value 12) and both might have different ranges depending on how the player wants to spend from their limited pool of points.

Also more stuff needs costs tweaking. Some powers give massive way overpowered bang for buck for example, and some are pretty rubbish. Anyway, nothing changing at the moment - I don't have the time right now but I'm hoping to have some time over the summer and we'll see what happens then.

Yeah I wasn't looking to change systems, I just thought that they had some nice stuff you might want to look at to help you tweak the system. Their magic system seems better than the sorcery power in DC but it is different but the same. Maybe you could merge it somehow?

I really like their bimbo points system, though not the name, and I think that they were one of the first to come up with that. Called Fate points or Karma points in some other games a bit later on - 1993 was when this game came out. It is a very nice way to do something nearly impossible and it is the player who chooses to do it to themselves knowing that they will have to pay for it later.

If you use it, we could call it Karma Points or Subplot points since you have to go through an event to get rid of the points that can easily be the hook for the next adventure. Those are the two areas of the game I think you might want to look at and maybe tweak into our game. Not sure if they have any powers or skills that we could use but there might be as well.

And now the governor of our state has declared a State of Emergency for the Corona Virus for Wake, Durham and Orange counties for state employees, with travel restrictions. Guess what, I live and have my office in Wake county; Durham and Orange counties are part of my 7 counties I cover. Management is having a meeting this afternoon to decide what the travel restrictions mean and how it will affect our jobs. Supposed to be in Durham County Thursdays and Fridays so now I have to see if I will just sit in my office every day or can continue traveling to see my client. Maybe I will find out by end of the day. If not, then tomorrow morning.

I expect at some point I'll catch this thing. The odds are too high that someone will catch it from a passenger and it will spread like wildfire through hundreds of railway employees within days. I'm supposed to be going on holiday for a week at the end of this month. I have a very nasty feeling that might not happen (Lanzarote in Spain) but will cross my fingers and wait and see...

Yep, travel and work restrictions now in effect. Can't be in a room with more than 10 people, don't go see folks 65+ years of age or have heart problems or have lung/breathing issues or have diabetes or have reduce immune systems. That's all my clients but one, so I will see that one twice a week as that is all the time she can spare for me.

This is so overblown. The Flu has around 0.10 % fatality rate and this has a 1% fatality rate and that really only hit the folks listed above and very young children, in other words, the same target group as the flu and they shut down the city and the state because of it.

Since I can't telecommute my job like 70% of the folks in my office, I have to come in and sit at my desk for the day. Not a bad thing once in awhile but soooooo BOOOOOORRRRRRRRRINNNNNNNNGGGGGGG after a few days.

Did you get the Femforce RPG game link I sent you? First time I set something like that up so not sure if I did it right.

The link didn't seem to work but I did some digging around and have a PDF from ages back. Is the page 20 messed up on the one you sent? May be the same file if it is. The game, whilst dated ($50k dollars is a lot of money f'rinstance) looks like it has some decent ideas. When/if I ever get round to writing up a game from scratch I intend to use DC Heroes as a basis (same or similar stats but with other stats such as Fighting, Melee Defence, Ranged Accuracy, Ranged Defence, Perception and possibly a few others) and liberally nick good ideas from other stuff. I'd like an energy based mechanic so that people can't go flat out every round for example.

Well the mayor, yesterday, declared "Stay at Home" orders for our city of Raleigh, that starts today at 5 PM.  Can only leave your home to get food, medicine or visit the pharmacy unless you have an essential job.  Working at Subway, I found out this morning is an essential job though you can only get pick up, the dining rooms of restaurants were closed a week or so ago..

And congrats to the UK, you are now in the top ten!  And America just passed Italy for the number two spot!  Yay us!

We'll probably never find out the true figures. They'll put a positive spin on things for the outside world. Scary stuff and the UK is fourth fastest growth rate. I know only a couple of people who have 100% confirmed got it but know a few people I'd really rather not get it as it will finish them off, absolutely no doubt about that (including my brother, who's had pneumonia twice as far as I know, and both involved prolonged hospital stays).
