Re: The New Vanguard! Miss Victory issue #2 Fighting for the Flag... AND her life!!!
OOC Magma Girl was forced to stay as a 'guest' rather than a prisoner but it amounts to the same thing.
Miss Victory and Obsidian left the lab. She had a small rucksack full of the stuff she'd managed to gather but still needed vital ingredients.
She'd designed the drug to activate the meta gene in her body with as many components that could commonly be found as possible, and under normal circumstances this prison would have them all.
Popping back into the med bay she saw the Doctor at work in a screened off area. It was performing surgery on Irradiator who was unconscious.
"She'll not be on her feet for a day or two i wouldn't have thought. Supers heal faster, are generally tougher than ordinary people. Putting the insides of someone back in their place like that would normally restrict someone to bed rest for weeks, mind." he placed a gentle hand on Miss Victory's shoulder. "She'll be alright. Whatever else this place is, they keep the inmates alive as best they can. All the do gooders who built the place saw to that."
Miss Victory looked at the time. Her heart sank.
OOC I never kept an accurate track of Miss Victory's hour but I'll take a look back through the last few pages...April 27 she took the pill (page 2) so I guess that's pretty much almost an hour up in game time... Let's say you have 10 minutes left. Another thing: You're on level 5 but came from level 4 which is where Mindshark and co. hang out... And Warlock wants you to chat with the leaders of that level - including Mindshark (he doesn't know you have previous with that guy). Of course Mindshark thinks he's a big player so chances are he's down in the basement butting heads with other level leaders. You also have Mind Maidens powers to call on if you can summon them up.
I guess I can put a time up in every post I bring up for a countdown type thing. Say every 15 posts is one hour or similar. Any thoughts on that?

Re: The New Vanguard! Miss Victory issue #2 Fighting for the Flag... AND her life!!!
Since conversations are fast and combat even faster, hard to keep track of the time. It's all the events in-between that take so much time. And now you know why I had so many pills hidden on various places in her costume. And of course, you then stripped her naked that first chance you got, you dirty GM you!
So be an equal opportunity GM and strip Lionheart or someone naked too next chance you get.
We did decide that making the pills takes an hour so, yeah, she should just be about out of time here.
What we do during each post makes it kind of hard to keep track. So an average of 15 post might not work if the majority of them are short conversations or fights. Guess we will just have to play it by ear.

Re: The New Vanguard! Miss Victory issue #2 Fighting for the Flag... AND her life!!!
OOC Well clearly there were plenty of places for Miss Victory to hide laser Rifles, bazookas, laptop computers, fridge freezers and whatnot on her costume in all the pouches and stuff, so they were bound to search her. AND it was women prison staff - it's sometimes tricky seeing as we're all adults to keep things Comic Code friendly but I do try!
Miss Victory initially bit off more than she could chew in the fight and went down rather than run and fight another day so I can't take all the blame!
Besides, all of this is leading somewhere and it has been intimated in Miss V's adventure. You may very well be seeing quite a few of these bad guys again...
next time that Miss V takes that tablet I will put a countdown timer of sorts on every post/reply

"Well, let's go see Mindshark," she said a bit dispiritedly. "He's a bit mad at me so we may have problems with him. But if your boss wants me to talk to him, talk to him I will."

Re: The New Vanguard! Miss Victory issue #2 Fighting for the Flag... AND her life!!!
"If he wants peace he'll talk. Mind you, I get the idea that if you want to make trouble its of the most annoying kind." said Obsidian.
The pair walked from the lab as Miss Victory felt her power ebbing. in minutes she would be... less. Still superhuman, but less so. Massively.
The guards at the stairwell let them pass and they traversed the stairs to the next level unmolested. A bang on the door had it open... and they faced a mob of prisoners clad in orange. Most were human looking, some were not, with fiery skin, purple scales, an energy aura... They were ready for battle!
Obsidian sucked in a deep breath. "We are here to talk to your leaders! Peace! Peace with level five!"
One of the prisoners pushed to the front. He was nasty looking, unshaved, bad teeth, scars, his nails have something dark underneath. Probably blood.
Deathblow.
"Well, well, well." he growled, grinning. "I do hope you two don't come quietly..." he popped his knuckles and rolled his neck.
OOC Miss Victory still has a smidgen of time on her Vita Pill left...

Re: The New Vanguard! Miss Victory issue #2 Fighting for the Flag... AND her life!!!
"We are here as emissaries of Warlock this time, Deathblow," she says simply. "Do you think Mindshark will be happy with you starting a war with Level 5 when it was possible for a brokered peace or even an alliance against others? Are you that confident you know his mind? His mood? If so, I will be happy to take you on! One or two punches should do it unless you need all your "friends" here to take on one little girl?"
ooc: This is all or nothing if he decides to fight. Maxing out Strength [23 is all that is allowed, right?] and the rest into Dex to give me a really good chance to actually hit him. Skills all in for attack. Best blow I can do - Devastating or crit or whatever it is. Need to one punch him if at all possible. So all out attack and nothing left for defense that can be used for attack.
I am really hoping it doesn't come to that but better be prepared.

Re: The New Vanguard! Miss Victory issue #2 Fighting for the Flag... AND her life!!!
Deathblow grinned. "I'm going to enjoy this and..."
Obsidian stepped up, leaning in Deathblows face and snarling. "You idiot! We came here under a flag of peace and you threaten that? look around you! All of these people will probably die because YOU are too stupid to follow basic rules of this place. If you fought this woman I would be standing ready to take whatever's left of you and decorate the place with it. You know me. You know Blackrock."
"Yeah I know Blackrock. I ran with him. What of it? He's badass, he'd kick your..."
"Blackrock is dead. Gone."
Suddenly silence and Deathblow looked stunned. A prisoner behind said "We'll go with you to Mindshark and the others."
"WAIT!" said Deathblow, but one of his own men said "Listen to what Mindshark says. If he says off 'em, I'll help ya. But if we screw this up Mindshark will give us to those nasty brain guys he hangs around with. Soulsucker? Remember him?"
More than one prisoner shuddered. "Even in here that guy is a monster. Let's go see Mindshark." He glared at Miss Victory. "Don't know where you get your guts from lady. The last time I saw you, you were in shackles and Mindshark put you in ya place. I expect he'll do so again."
OOC Happy to go see (gulp) Mindshark or want to try anything along the way? Your main powers may be running out but Mind Maiden is always with you and may give additional options. Shellghost requires a terminal to communicate with but he can also help in a way. Maybe to send a message to the other guy knocking about in this place who might be a help, though he's a level above you right now.

"First, I need to go to the Medbay to complete my medication," Vickie says. "Otherwise ... well ... Blackrock was an accident. I just meant for his bones to be broken not him turned into scattered atoms."
She gives everyone a wicked looking smile.
"And I am so very ... very ... close to going off my meds. Who here wants to be near me and make me irritable when I am off them? Hands up if you do! Anyone?"
"And Deathblow, I was shackled because I was on my meds when I first came to this floor. So you might want to let me make my meds. Or not. Your choice but I want you near me if I don't get my meds."
ooc: The really fun thing I am trying with Miss Victoria is she is trying to always tell the truth to everyone here, just a little altered in emphasis or lack of full disclosure but not an actual lie. Might help with mind readers, or not. She does need her Vita Pills to survive here and win the day. It was an accident Blackrock died and she did mean to just break his bones. And she is about to be powerless - going off her meds. And she is irritable when she is in here without her powers because it is better that than scared. And she did have powers when she first came to the floor. Etc. etc. etc.

Re: The New Vanguard! Miss Victory issue #2 Fighting for the Flag... AND her life!!!
The wind seemed to have gone right out of Deathblows sails when he realised that the truth of Blackrocks death was hitting him.
The group accompanied Miss Victory without comment or complaint to the med lab.
Deathblow looked ready to challenge Miss Victory on what it was she was doing but instead asked Obsidian. "It is true isn't it? What was done to the body?"
"There was no body. We have a few post cognitive mentalist types. They all confirmed what happened. This lady and her friends battered then disintegrated Blackrock. He didn't stand a chance." the tall black man replied.
Deathblow looked suddenly pale and moved to the back of the group of prisoners before asking "We're only giving you some of our supplies as a courtesy. Make a note of everything she uses. Level 5 will pay for what they use."
Miss Victory frowned .Shellghost had explained that what she really needed was on Level 3 (OOC 23 may 10.05 post) and though she could prepare what she needed here that one vital ingredient had been used up on this level too.
However there were alternatives here that had been used up on level 5, but they might have strange side effects, not work at all or work to a different - more or less - degree. She could test them but would her body accept... or reject an experimental compound?
Obsidian came over and murmured "They've notified some of their bosses what's going on and they are on their way. What kind of trouble should we expect from Mindshark? These... lesser types... tend to fold pretty easy when I whack em but the tougher ones are a different kettle of fish if you get my meaning..."

Re: The New Vanguard! Miss Victory issue #2 Fighting for the Flag... AND her life!!!
"He wants me for my body," Vickie says primly as she decides to go ahead and make the best version of her Vita Pills she can with what she has. Better than nothing. She will keep enough supplies on hand that if she makes it back up to level 3 she can try to make the correct formula there.
"Actually, he wants my powers and what the pills do for me. Keep your eyes on them while I finish this, please"
Once she has the computer to herself, angling it away from the others she tries to Shellghost and see if he had made any further contact with Lionheart or Wandafar or whoever it was and to let them know where she was.

Re: The New Vanguard! Miss Victory issue #2 Fighting for the Flag... AND her life!!!
Shellghost responds almost immediately just as Miss Victory feels the last vestiges of her power slipping from her!
"Miss V? Phew." types the screen. Miss Victory is careful to leave a screen full of data to Alt-Tab to.
"Whenever the guy we are trying to contact uses his suit to interface with the computers again, he'll get a message. Until then, there's not much I can do unless I want to expose my presence to the computers and bad guys in this place. Once I'm out, basically, they'll know how to lock me out. And hoooo boy, am I screwed then. In here, I have powers and can move about. Outside? In this place? I'd be fodder."
"I'll keep an eye out for when you contact me again. Until then, we play the waiting game..."
Obsidian came over and Miss V quickly tapped to the other screen. The tablet wasn't right. There were parts of it missing. With a sigh she looked over at the machine that was whipping up the mixture then heating and compressing it into tablet form.
OOC Here's how it'll work:
When you pop a tablet we'll roll on the following table:
1) Nothing Happens, the tablet doesn't work
2) All abilities normally affected will DROP by -1 AP! for 1 hour
3) Nothing Happens, the tablet doesn't work
4) Power Reserve works at 11 Points for 1 hour
5) All abilities normally affected by power reserve Increase by 1D12 then DECREASE by 1D12
6) Nothing Happens, the tablet doesn't work
7) Special Modifier + 1D12 (apply this as a special modifier to every AV/OV/EV/RV for 1 hour)
8) one power (players choice) or ability normally affected by the power reserve power increases by +1D12
9) The tablet works exactly as it should for 1 hour!
10) The player can rearrange their stats (higher/lower/swap points) as they see fit which then lasts one hour (cannot rearrange once set)
11) The tablet works for 1D12 rounds as it should.
12) The tablet works exactly as it should but for ONE WHOLE DAY!
Could be a few wonky results but the most likely is that nothing happens.
It takes 1 round to get out, swallow and for the tablet to take effect (can move but do nothing else).

Re: The New Vanguard! Miss Victory issue #2 Fighting for the Flag... AND her life!!!
"Best I can do with what I have," she mutters to Obsidian. "I don't think I will blow up and destroy the whole facility but it's a chance we will have to take."
She finished the pills and puts them in a couple of pill bottles, placing them in various pockets of her prisoner garb.
"Okay, let's go see Mindshark now," she says out-loud. She palms one pill with the intention of taking it just before she enters the room with Mindshark.
ooc: I feel like Dial "H" for Hero with this set up. Actually made a couple of characters with that set up. Roll dice to see how many powers I would get then roll dice to see what powers I would get out of the various categories. Attack Powers, Movement Powers, Defense Powers, Misc Powers. One character even had miscellaneous disads so one time I got Tunneling as a power but he had catastrophic fear of being in enclosed places.

Re: The New Vanguard! Miss Victory issue #2 Fighting for the Flag... AND her life!!!
With an entourage surrounding them Miss Victory is led through the corridors with Obsidian at her side.
They stop outside a doorway and knock. Moments later its opened by an orange prison suited gorilla (literally) who growls "Come in."
The room was quite spacious and looked to have been cleared of its function before. Tables were arranged in a semi circle and seats angled to point at whoever was the subject. Men and women were sat there in orange prison jumpsuits. Most looked like ordinary humans but some had metallic skin, different colour skin (blue, green) and there were eight of them in all.
Including Mindshark.
"We meet again." he hissed.
OOC Roll(1d12)+0: 11,+0 Total:11 'The tablet works for 1D12 rounds as it should.' so Roll(1d12)+0: 9,+0 Total:9 Rounds then it wears off. Miss V doesn't know this, only that the tablet seems to be working!
"I have made my feelings known to the people on this panel about the proposed truce and what I would like to do with you. State your piece, make it convincing. It will have to be. Aside from those of us in here (OOC 9 of them, two of you) there is an army outside. You come under a flag of truce to speak. What happens after you have spoken? We'll see." he cackles.
Obsidian bristles but mumbles "I ain't too good at th' talkin part. I'd rather punch his teeth in."
One woman on the panel must have super hearing because she smiled and looked Obsidian up and down appreciatively.

Re: The New Vanguard! Miss Victory issue #2 Fighting for the Flag... AND her life!!!
ooc: Forgetting if the mental powers she currently have include some kind of mind block, if so, then she wants to activate it.
"Put it simply, Warlock wants peace, an end to violence," she said, stepping forward. "Or even better, an alliance to watch each other's back if other floors attack. But peace would be acceptable. No more trying to take over one another's floors. Stay on your own floor, maybe set up a place where trade can happen without violence. As I personally discovered, each floor lacks something the other floor may need, such as various medicines or compounds to help control out of control powers or personality disorders that can lead to violence and death with their powers if unchecked."
"But all of this is short-term. You have to be smart enough to know that. Eventually, the government and the Ultrahumans and any other superheroes that gather, can come in here and wipe out most everyone here. If need be, they will just drop a couple of nuclear bombs on us. If we do not lock down the violence, get everyone to gather peacefully, such as eating meals, or go back to their cells and wait, that will probably be our very short future - death. Some here have the ability to survive a nuclear blast, if their powers are at full force, but most don't. And there is no guarantee that powers will come back full force and stay on, if and when nuclear bombs are used. Or bio-bombs."
She looks around at everyone trying to gauge how her words are being heard.
"There is one other thing as well, the Advent, those so-called beneficial aliens. I personally believe that they are behind this breakout. I think that they are in this prison, either in person or through some agents or patsies. I have no real evidence but just my gut instinct. Maybe if we combine our knowledge, we can come up with the evidence."
"Have most of you wondered, Why Haven't the Ultrahumans Shown Up Here Yet? Do you know that world-wide emergencies hit the planet at THE VERY SAME TIME AS THE POWER RESTRAINTS STOPPED HERE AND THE BREAKOUT BEGAN and the Ultrahumans are too busy dealing with those to deal with us? Do you really think that was luck? Do you really thing it was one of the masterminds here in the Ultramax prison that formulated the breakout? Do you honestly think that those who claim that they are trying to break through the computers to free you all actually want to do that? Yes, some actually are but others ...? I think that they are Advent Agents who are just trying to keep the chaos going and getting more supers killed."
"The Advent want to take over the world. They may convince a few gullible villains that if they join them and operate as their agents that they will then let those villains rule a portion of the world. They certainly convinced a great number of politicians that they are here to give us something for nothing because they are such benevolent beings."
She sneers as she says those last words.
"If I am right," she says very quietly, causing her listeners to have to lean forward to hear better, and then gradually speaking louder, "if I am right, then everyone here will be needed to help save the world and keep it free from the Advent some day in the near future. But if we are all killed or most of the remaining superheroes out there are killed, then that day is fast approaching."
"So I am asking, no BEGGING, you to stop the violence. Get those out of control morons under control, get everyone to understand that more violence could mean their deaths and the deaths of those around them. In return, those who actively work to stop the violence and return this prison to a peaceful state or even just return to their cells and not take any further part in the violence, I give you my personal guarantee that some of the best lawyers on the planet will go to work on their cases and try their best to either get those who co-operated in restoring peace or stayed peacefully in their cells the best deal possible. Maybe that means re-examining their cases and see if they were actually guilty of the crimes that they were charged with or not. Trying to reduce sentences. Maybe getting them out of this prison into a better prison as they don't really warrant being here. Or maybe we can convince the government to form a ... unit .. or squad or something of criminals who want to fight to protect their planet in exchange for reduced sentences or even pardons. But those who continue the violence, would never get any kind of better deal."
She stands still and considers her next words very very carefully then decides to go for it.
"As some of you already know or have guessed, I'm not a criminal. I'm one of the superheroes you usually butt heads with. You won't know me because I've only started out recently. My name is Miss Victory. While a novice and not affiliated with any team, I DO have those powerful connections of lawyers and people of influence behind me. I do give you my personal word that if you help do what's right, I will do right by you."
She waits, ready to defend herself.

Re: The New Vanguard! Miss Victory issue #2 Fighting for the Flag... AND her life!!!
OOC Great speech, so much so I'm not letting the dice mess this up.
Miss Victory saw the look on Mindsharks face - anger. Knowing her secrets he'd intended to expose her as a heroine to undermine her, but the other words... had they struck home? He looked about, then at Miss Victory but seemed hard at thought.
The others looked shocked and some were angry. The smarter of them leaned back though, pondering or murmuring to those next to them.
Obsidian took Miss Victory by the arm, slightly roughly she thought and he hissed angrily in her face "You... I trusted you! You never told me! You're one of... of them?"
The Gorilla in prison suit didn't seem over keen either. "I should snap her in two! RARRRRGGGGHHHHH!!!"
Miss Victory turned, willing the power in the tablet to activate to her whims whilst Obsidian turned absolute jet black, seeming even bigger and more powerful than before apparently!
Suddenly the Gorilla prisoner winced and froze stock still!
"I think not." said Mindshark. "This woman, like all of her kind, is my enemy. However in the short time I have known her, I have *seen* into her mind. For better or worse she tells the truth. She, too, has dark secrets that she has not revealed and nor shall I. Mindshark is many things, but above all he is a gentleman. She came under the flag of truce to talk and has done so. I believe that SHE believes everything she has said to be true. She is not trying to deceive us."
He tapped on the side of his head. "I am Mindshark. I know."
"Pass the word. So long as they do not attempt to steal or take anything or subvert anyone they are free to move about on level 4. Eat at the canteen, speak to other prisoners, look around but do not abuse my hospitality. You know my power, as I know yours. However here I am Legion and you are one..."
"Two." growled Obsidian, menacingly.
"So be it. Return in an hour for my verdict whilst I confer with my colleagues. I wonder, Miss Victory... does Warlock know of who... and what... you are?"
He let that hang and the Gorilla slumped to the floor breathing hard. With a menacing glance at Mindshark it got up and opened the door for Obsidian and Miss Victory to leave.
Stood outside with the prisoner entourage all around them but less menacing now, Obsidian asked "So what now... hero?"

"Now? We get something to eat. I don't remember the last time I ate anything. Been knocked unconscious so many times today you know? Or have I been down here longer than a day? Anyway, hungry!"
"I guess each floor is laid out the same, so you lead us to the cafeteria, please? And thanks for having my back. I meant what I said about helping everyone here get a better deal if they behave and help out against those who won't. You are on that list, if you haven't figured that out yet."
She follows Obsidian to get some food, smiling at folks in a friendly way as they go. Keeping an eye out for Lionheart and wondering how they would know each other if they were on the same floor yet.

Re: The New Vanguard! Miss Victory issue #2 Fighting for the Flag... AND her life!!!
The canteen was pretty full and gave Miss Victory some idea of how many prisoners there were on each floor.
A lot.
Finding a space to sit down she moved to the line to help herself to food. The prisoners had pretty much stuck to their own prison roles on this level though others had devolved into anarchy. She imagined some of the other floors would resemble a chimps tea party and be very dangerous places indeed. It was a good job that the walls of this place absorbed kinetic, energy, mental and mystical impact otherwise a single blast would ping through the hallways forever blasting whatever or whoever it struck!
She got more than a few looks - she was dazzlingly striking after all - and moved back to sit down on the end of a table whilst Obsidian then got up for his turn. The prisoners about seemed to mind their own business and eat. It didn't seem a good idea to plot and scheme when many of the bad guys on this level were mind readers!
Looking about, she concentrated on her food. Bland fayre for the most part but it would...
She looked back up.
A bald headed man sat across the other side of the room.
She blinked. What in the...?
Elektrostantsiya
A Russian Agent, recipient of one of the superhuman programs. His codename translated into 'Powerhouse'. What was he doing here? Silly question. If he was a powerful criminal in the United States and thrown in jail by the Ultrahumans, where else would he be?
Would he recognise her (OOC I dunno, I'm gonna read up your origin story again)? Then what?

ooc: It's possible he will or he won't. She wasn't the only scientist there and I always figured her attractive advantage was part of her first permanent power boost, not her normal looks prior to that - pretty but no beauty who could be a professional model. So she probably went around in the age old glasses, lab coat and hair done up in a severe bun after that first power boost so her bosses wouldn't know she physically changed while she completed the Vita Pill shortly afterwards. Actually, all her stats increased thanks to the bio-cocktail that was the first part of her program to improve herself and escape, raising them up to peak human perfection. I used Batman as a guide to her "perfect" stats. Give it an INT roll, I guess.
Actually, has her power worn off yet? She would lose her charisma if it did.
She continued to eat while watching everyone around her. She tried listening in on a few nearby conversation, more to get a feel for what everyone's mood was at that time.

Re: The New Vanguard! Miss Victory issue #2 Fighting for the Flag... AND her life!!!
OOC Powers will have worn off by now. She'd have another 19 or so tablets secreted about her person.
Listening to the gossip about the prison whilst eating, Miss Victory came up with...
"You heard? Level 1 is a mess. They are on high alert for the authorities comin' in wid gas, stun stuff, whatever... Really strung out man. Level 2 have been raiding them... There's a war buildin, ALL OUT man, mark my words."
"Level 2? Man those guys are assholes. Raidin one, nibblin away at three. If anyone needs an ass kickin it's them. You know the guy, whatsisname, who turns into... yeah slime, disgustin huh? He escaped that mess an says its chaos. They've broken down man. Food, meds, tech... whatever's going they fight over an it's a real **** storm. Dangerous place, y'know? Slime guy begged the guys in charge ta take him. I mean, it was messy, this guy on his knees, cryin an meltin an turnin inta this sludge that burns if ya touch it an whatever... Man..."
"5? yeah, some guy called Warlock. I heard others called him a soft touch but... oh boy. He's like this calm guy who explodes in ways you don't wanna know. Strength, speed, super tough but... he blasts this energy an ya think 'my force field has this'. Uh, no. No, no, no, no! Dat chit just flies right through an suddenly you feel like ... feel... well I just heard its like you are bein separated from your body."
"Magic?"
"Yeah man. Deadly chit."
"What you know bout dem other levels?"
"Not much. Da guys in charge locked down pretty hard pretty fast. I heard six an seven are a boilin mess wid a bunch o people wantin ta be in charge, always tappin folk up and say 'join me an you get... food, meds, whatever'. Messy."
"Eight? The control place at the bottom?"
"Eight are the nastiest most powerful types. I heard Nexus is down there."
"What, the guy dat bounced the Ultrahumans round? I mean all of em includin that a hole Sentinel? That guy... when he turns up, you know you got a hard choice ta make. I mean, you got bags with gold bars in em an you flattened dese local chumps an everyone is laughin an buzzin... an the silver guy shows up. Honestly? We were a tight crew. Thunderbuster could... man, when he let loose we all ran for cover. Last I heard he was still in hospital an in traction. The other guys, Krunch, Savage Axe, Mindblaster... all of em... Lady Mystiqal.. Magic didn't even phase this guy. We had this one guy, Warpspeed, a speedster. He could do this weird... phasinng... warp thing and it would mess you up. Well, he tried it on Silver Sentinel and ... I dunno. Know one ever saw him again."
"What, me? Hell I threw down. I had a rep. I think he took three of us out before I hit the floor. Woke up here. Like 2 months later, an I still hurt."
"Anyway. This Nexus guy? Silver Sentinel took it inta space after Nexus gave the Ultrahumans a real poundin. Like... BOOM BOOM! Thunder Woman, all those jerks. They got theirs. This guy was..."
"Off da chart?"
"Hell yeah. Silver Sentinel shows up an gets punched through a mountain! Clean through! They got Richter scale readings an everything. Thought it was an Earthquake. The fight didn't last long. On Earth anyway. They took it ta space, Silver Sentinel got a kickin man. Dat guy deserved it, thinkin he was the hardest man on the block. Ok, he was probably right but Nexus? Took trickery to beat him after the heroes licked their wounds. That guy? Turns out he's some nerdy accountant. Take his glove off an... well actually everyone leaves him alone. See there's a theory that hurting him or stressing him out in any way kicks off the nexus effect again. Some scientist said somethin bout he calls on an infinite number of himself across different realities an combines inta one. Right now his powers are bein used by another version of himself, but threaten him an... "
He made a motion like a huge explosion. The other guy laughed nervously.
"So he's the big bad?"
"I heard he's biding his time. No one messes with him though. Word is, if he gets 'woken' he's the one thing, maybe other than Sentinel, who can bust outta here. This stuff around us? Nuke proof. Not even a scratch. To him, when he's big an struttin? With that gauntlet on? He'd walk right outta here. Probably most powerful being in existence."

Re: The New Vanguard! Miss Victory issue #2 Fighting for the Flag... AND her life!!!
Miss Victory found what she was hearing to be very interesting. Truth to tell, she knew little of the heroes and villains in America. She was always busy with other things to take that much time to learn about them.
She watched Powerhouse out of the corner of her eye to see who he interacted with. And waited for Obsidian to come back to the table. She also looked for any female villains to see how they appeared and how they were being treated.

Re: The New Vanguard! Miss Victory issue #2 Fighting for the Flag... AND her life!!!
A few of the 'braver' (more stupid) souls baited women as they walked past but for the most part there was a general air of respect. Every prisoner was in here after all because an ordinary prison could not hold them.
Obsidian came back and glanced at Miss V looking about. "See anyone you know? I'll keep quiet about you working for the other side because it seems like you're cooped up here like the rest of us, but it moved you down a notch in my eyes. just sayin." he said before tucking into the prison food.
Obsidian had mostly kept himself to himself aside from one near altercation with a bald fat prisoner whose sneering attitude marked him as a bully. The fifth leveler (Obsidian) laughed off threats though and when one of the bald guys cronies stepped up, Obsidian put on his jet black 'game face' by growing a foot in each direction and looking down at the guy who backed off. That seemed to settle it. It appeared like newcomers were required to flex their so called muscles to establish a pecking order.
The Russian sat alone until two shaven headed male prisoners sat on the same table. They ducked their heads to avoid any talented lip readers and seemed to be conferring about something. Miss V didn't know much about Powerhouse saving that he'd have been one of the Soviets own super soldier experiments that apparently succeeded given his current predicament.
The three of them got up and started to make their way out, food pretty much half touched.
"You better eat that before we head back to talk to Mindshark again Miss V." said Obsidian. "Dunno when we'll get to eat again seeing as this place is like a powder keg most times..."
Despite Obsidians' warning the place seemed generally calm. Thirty - forty prisoners eating at any one time and some light hearted banter about food quality but for the most part people seemed to keep their heads down and mind their own business.
The Russian and his pals had business of their own though, it seemed...

Despite Obsidians' warning the place seemed generally calm. Thirty - forty prisoners eating at any one time and some light hearted banter about food quality but for the most part people seemed to keep their heads down and mind their own business.
The Russian and his pals had business of their own though, it seemed...

Vickie took Obsidian's words to heart and finished up her meal. After all her experiences in the prison, this was the most peaceful it had been for her. It kind of worried her, calm before the storm kind of thing.
"Guess it is time to go see what Mindshark is going to tell us," she said as she prepared to take her tray back to where it belonged. "Shall we see if we are going to get back to Warlock alive and if he is going to keep me alive when we finish telling him what has happened here?"
This time, knowing where to go, she took the lead. Just before entering the room, she took another proto-Vita Pill.

OOC 18 tablets left...
Roll(1d12)+0:
3
3) Nothing Happens, the tablet doesn't work
Miss V doesn't feel anything happen and wonders if she's swallowed a dud.
As the pair start to leave she notices a few stray glances and knows something is about to happen.
She glances about. The Russians have left. Probably waiting outside.
"What's up?" asked Obsidian.
Just then two big goons walk up behind Obsidian and a glow starts in one of the pairs eyes. "You vill come vid us. Both of you. Or else." he said in a Russian accent.

"OH LOOK! Some folks have decided that they want to takeover this floor and take out Mindshark," she yells out loudly, pointing out the two, trying to attract everyone's attention. "Do you think these guys attacking us and rebelling against Mindshark comes under his command that "we don't start anything", Obsidian?"
ooc: Okay, she is powerless, sort of, but still have her mental "gifts" so let's try not butting heads with these goons right away. Instead, let's go subtle. Let's try using Telepathy and contact MindShark and let him know what's going on, that the Russians are making a powerplay in his backyard. And since I've never done this before, lets put in enough HP for two dice to help with making the power work and not blasting my own mind. I do have enough HP left for that, yes?
ooc2: and I so wanted to snap back "Ve Haf Vays uf Making You Talk!" But I am being a good girl and not doing that.

Re: The New Vanguard! Miss Victory issue #2 Fighting for the Flag... AND her life!!!
The people in the canteen stood, looking about and across to where Obsidian and Miss V were stood at the door.
OOC Ok, Miss V 'fights against herself' so it's a straight better than roll to use the RAPs for mental powers...
Miss Vic HP 43 now on Miss Victory HP 31
Roll(4d12)+0: 9,5,5,4,+0 Total:10 DOUBLE plus Roll(2d12)+0: 10,10,+0 Total:20 DOUBLE plus Roll(2d12)+0: 4,2,+0 Total:36 vs
Roll(2d12)+0: 8,1,+0 Total:9 (+7 to 15EV vs 8RV=7RAPs)
7 RAPs
The problem with this entire building is that these walls prevent ANYTHING other than line of sight. You can blast them with a nuke, mental, mystical powers whatever you like. It is the most impregnable building on the Planet aside from possible one or two places (the White House basement for one)
So whilst you have 6APs for 1 round or 5APs for 2 rounds etc you really need line of sight to send a message to Mindshark. She has other abilities you can call on...
