Red Son was waking up!

Miss Victory settled the prisoner onto the gurney and activated the medical bay. The Prisoner was dying but she'd acted quickly and doors hissed over the prone form whilst small electrical arms set to work performing surgery.

He would live, but an injury like the boy had inflicted would take a while to recover from.

Lupus/Possessor stood to attention nearby. "I think he's calming down. I'm staying away from the mirror so I don't freak him... or me... out."

Miss Victory heard the conversation outside between Mindshark and Lionheart.


"Lionheart, keep him unconscious, keep punching him every minute or so," Miss Victory calls out to the two out in the corridor.  "That will give me time to see if the medbays can be configured to put someone in an induced coma.  If not, then we may have to go to a floor where the power nullifiers are still working and dump him there."

"Possessor, can you sort of share the body with Lupus?  Keep control but loose enough that he is aware of what's going on and can communicate with you?  Otherwise, we may have to take a guess he is okay and have you release him.  But I want to resolve some issues before we let him go free."

"Mindshark, can you get someone to bring me my original pills please?  I need those if I am going to be any good further on."

Lionheart said some urgency in his voice, trying not to let his words tumble out at super-speed so they became a high pitch garble. He was already thinking it might be time to contact Wandafar, they were in need of getting to the Control room and the stakes had got higher. Things were still tense and they had healing to do. But right now, keeping Red Son from returning to full health and from exacting revenge was what they had to think of. Mindshark had talked of lobotomizing the villain he had no doubt if he could he would have done it already.

OOC: If we can't contain him, we might need to think of another way to do so. I wonder if Possessor can get ahold of him? Or Mindshark or I, do something to put him down? Not sure what is best. If we can't lock him in, with his defences down Mindshark and I could try to team attack him with mental abilities...that would buy us a bit longer and then maybe Possessor could take him, and we can turn him to our ends for a while?

Possessor/Lupus growled "I can't be completely sure the youth has calmed down. The situation may have triggered a berserk rage in him."

Obsidian snarled "Let me in there. I can weigh him down to pin him to the floor."

Mindshark turns "Foolish. Red Son is faster and more resistant to most attacks than practically any superhuman below level eight. Only those... lower levels house beings more powerful than this fellow." He paused then turned to Lionheart "Present company excepted, but not by much. I sense you and Red Son are almost equal in ability."

"She might give him a run for his money too." Mindshark added with a nod in Miss Victorys direction.

"We need to lock the door." muttered Mindshark. "Otherwise he will have to be killed or rendered unconscious in a near constant suppression every... 15 seconds or so." He turned to a couple of Prisoners. "Go back to my office and bring me the pill box in the desk. Ensure it is brought here straight away and there are no delays. This is vital. Failure will be... punished." The prisoners nodded and ran off...

Miss Victory looked about in the medbay. The treatment tables effectively nullified most abilities in order to treat their superhuman patients. Still, they weren't foolproof and relied on the patient being kept comatose.

Red Son groaned, starting to move...

Miss Victory glanced at the computers. Then suddenly a line of text appeared on screen. "Miss V. I have no idea what's going on. Are you safe? SG."

OOC: OK I'll wait for Dave here, I am out of ideas at the moment. If we could sedate him on the med bay, that might work, with his powers nullified his regen would be off & so he wouldn't fight back. But otherwise, I'd have to stand over him pummeling him ever 15 secs, which ain't gonna happen, I've got to get to that control room. Dagnabbit this is a tough one at no mistake, in some ways, it's harder than the fight was!

She moved over to the computer and began typing.

"Shellghost, teamed up with Lionheart. Stopped a takeover of this floor by Russians led by Red Son. MindShark back in charge. We have a deal with him. Need some way to stop Red Son from reviving and fighting again. Can you activate at least one cell on this floor to neutralize his powers?"

"I'm contacting my partner," she tells Lionheart. "Trying to see if he can activate a cell to neutralize Red Son's powers. I don't know how much he can do alone since he is being pursued inside the computer system by someone who wants him dead."

ooc: Since she doesn't know about Wandafar, she is going to have to rely only on Shell Ghost.

"If I turn on the power nullifying rays in the cell I will be affected." says Shellghost on the screen.

"I can lock the cell he's in if that's any good?"

Good enough.

Miss Victory shouted "Everybody out of that cell!"

Obsidian turned. "What? We gotta pound this guy before he gets..."

"OUT!" she yelled.

Red Son rose to his feet in the blink of an eye, levelled an arm and...

Lionheart zipped out of the room with Obsidian in hand, slammed the door shut and CLICK!

Not so much as a peep of sound from the other side of the cell.

There may be a problem when it came to feeding Red Son but right now he was secured in the cell and the Promethium floors/walls/doors were able to ignore anything that the Russian could throw at them!

"The room will be supplied with oxygen. If he can shrink or disperse, he may be able to escape through the ventilation system." said Shellghost.

"I... oh no. I think I've been found! I have to g..." The cursor winked off.

Mindshark shook his head "The problem remains but I shall speak to Warlock on level 5 about a collaboration to sort out the problem Red Son poses."

The two Prisoners came back. One of them spoke up. "We got the pills. The ones that are left anyway."

He handed over a pill box which Mindshark passed to Miss Victory. She opened the box... only six small white pills. The Russians must have tried a few, the scientists Mindshark had set to duplicating the formula must have used quite a few and curious prisoners must have tried ingesting, snorting or otherwise imbibing the pills in order to get some kind of 'hit'.

Still, six pills left and her powers would work as normal whilst she took them.

"What next?" asked Mindshark. "I plan to render Red Son's compatriots unconscious and under guard. It will send a message to those who would think to defy me. You have performed a great service for me and have free reign to come and go on level four - I shall see to it."

"I guess," Miss Victory says while looking at Lionheart for confirmation, "that we get our teammates healed up here then go down to the fifth level. Then talk to Warlock, let him know we have an agreement with you. Check on my people there, see how many want to continue down with Lionheart and me and go from there."


ooc: Sorry, don't remember who is hurt and can't heal with regeneration. Heck, I've forgotten if Miss Vic is hurt or not.

The Behemoth that Lionheart dodged (easily) and Mindshark blasted (to no avail) walks up. There is a snarl on his ugly brute face as he towers over the group.

"You...no tell BigBrute what to do. I go back to cell." he waves a finger at Mindshark. "No blast BigBrute again, twist little man head off if do." then he turned and barged his way through the prisoners who for the most part got out of the way!

"A useful blunt instrument in certain circumstances but when arrayed against superior reflexes or a powerful mind he is nothing more than an annoyance. I must admit it was somewhat unnerving to deliver my my powerful blast and see it ignored, though." said Mindshark. "I shall consult which Prisoners I have that can influence or control the beast and use him as a henchman." He said, matter of fact.

He was a criminal after all.

ooc: Well, Miss Victory doesn't have regen so its a matter of heal here or go down to level 5 and heal there, assuming that there are no problems when we get there. I will let Lionheart make the call.

Lionheart took stock of things, they'd been through a battle and a half. And yet somehow with his newest companions and Miss V he and they had prevailed against the odds. Still, things were likely to only get worse the further down he went. Turning to the others he spoke to them all.
"You have been great, but this might be were you want to get off. Get healed and take stock. I won't forget what I promised and if I get through will make good anyway I can. But I've got to get to the control room, this is only a holding action at best. Advent aren't stupid and are ruthless to get to their goals. We might not be waking up to the same world we went in from when we came here. So I can't sit around, nice though the company might be. " He added tipping a wink to Mindshark.

"Miss V, you alright to join me? What about you Possessor, Lupus?"

OOC: Lionheart should regen pretty fast and then we go on down to talk to this Warlock fella. This might be a good time to update Wandafar and find out what is going on in the outside world.

"Oh, I'm coming with you, I just need to get in the medbed and heal up," she says. "Be faster that way than healing naturally. Obsidian and I need to talk to the bossman on level 5 and we can then get through without fighting, I hope."

Lionheart nodded, grateful, Miss Victory had been a big help since finding here on this level and he was sure she'd be a solid help in getting to his objective. But what he didn't know was how his other two companions felt.

Mindshark was busy organising things and barking orders as Possessor stepped out of Lupus (finally) and the Wolf Boy sagged.

"I did it again didn't I?" he said, looking at himself covered in blood. He flopped onto a seat in the med bay and sighed. "I thought super powers would be cool but put me in a situation where I get ... over excited is maybe the wrong word but I go crazy. I'd hate to think I ever hurt any of you guys. Maybe I should go back to my cell."

Possessor wasn't sure what to add so went to look at the readings on the various consoles in the med bay. "This guy is going to be a while in here. That leaves only one med bay left. Who's next?"

OOC For standard healing something like this would effectively give Regeneration 2 and basically cut down the healing time to 15 minutes or so for normal Bashing combat damage (i.e. not serious wounds like would be inflicted with Killing Combat)

Lionheart knew he'd heal up in about half an hour and the others were looking wobbly so deferred to them.

Obsidian limped up. "I could do with some."

OOC I take it you want to wait the time out to heal up? That would be about an hour or so and time to gather new clothes/Lupus to clean up etc.

Healing rolls. So long as you don't fail the healing roll (3 or less on 2D12) and the opposing roll doesn't Double, you are pretty much healed up...

"I'll talk to the boy." said Possessor looking at the forlorn Lupus now cleaned up and dressed in prison orange after grabbing spare clothes from the stores (with Mindsharks blessing) and getting a shower.

Lionheart took the time to whizz off to change into his costume and interface with the Prison computers. Even so it took long minutes to find a signal to Wandafar.

"Who is dis? Don't you know I em watchin East... oh its you. Nice to see you are still alive, which is a funny statement because of all ze heroes I ever vorked viz you vud be hardest to kill. Pretty sure in another life some von tried to strangle you because you are annoying though." rambled the Scientist who flickered on a really patchy connection and appeared to be soldering, typing on a keyboard, eating a sandwich and half watching Eastenders at the same time.

"Plenty trouble outside zet place. Ze Ultrahumans hef sent out a general call to all ze Class three or higher supers zey know about to attend ze prison entrance. So much for it being a state secret. Also zer has been 'grapevine' chatter on ze dark veb about super villain types going to ze place for a big fight und a big pay off. Something else about a Gauntlet, which can only mean Nexus' gauntlet. I vud love to study it but from what I can tell it's just a leather glove. Nexus is an ordinary guy in this vorld but that gauntlet is a key to connecting to a parallel universe with a Nexus zer, which connects to another and so on. Ze result is a being zet, when... hmmm. When 'activated' he hez nearly unlimited power. Ze top scientists hef figured zet destroying ze gauntlet vud be a bad thing. Unfortunately now ze bed guys have it. Zey vill be trying to get it back to Nexus whio is in ze jail somewhere viz you. Any attack on Nexus zet seriously injures him is said to activate ze change too. It cannot be self inflicted.Some hef tried zet - according to weird time/plane shifting types und all zet heppens is zet there is Infinity minus 1 nexus to call on. He is faster, stronger, tougher zen anything else. Can call on pretty much any power."

"Lionheart, I hef a feeling ADVENT are financing all of zis. Zey vud not risk war with ze USA but zey can dangle enough carrots to ze super goons to get nexus out. Vot zey vant viz him is unclear but maybe zey figure with nexus going crazy and blasting stuff zey can save ze day. Vot zey do not realise it zet Nexus may be too powerful for ANYVUN to contain. Even Silver Sentinel had a hard time und he makes you look like Timmy Jones with no powers. Timmy is doing fine by ze vay but I lost contact viz Frostbite."

Well, it wasn't sexy and skimpy when she first wore it!
Well, maybe it was sexy or maybe it was just her. When her powers are activated and she has her charisma, she could make wearing a dumpy potato sack look sexy!

But she can wear it under her sexy orange prisoner suit until she feels it is time to let everyone know she is a superhero. And that time? Probably whenever Lionheart strips out of his prison oranges.

So yeah, she will ask for it and maybe the mask is still good enough to wear instead of her modified Zorro cowl.

Lionheart chewed his lower lip distracted by the call, thinking about Frostbite...wow his friend seemed like it was an age since they had been together - but in reality, once again a lot had seemed to have happened in a short space of time. He couldn't be everywhere at once, and his friend was more than used to getting out of a scrap. But when he got out of this he promised himself he'd check in on him.

But then there was the issue of Advent, they were tricky and making bold moves. Clearly the American heroes troubled them, enough to play it cool so they can win over by stealth what they couldn't by brute force- well that is unless you considered Nexus. What to do with him, what indeed. Right now that wasn't the big problem, that was getting the control room back online so the prison could be shut down no matter who decided to come calling.

Pulling himself out of his thoughts, he went over to the others, checking on Lupus, Possessor and Miss Victory. He told the others of his plan and then spoke to Miss V to one side. "The Ultra humans are banding together all they can class 3 or higher to take a stand. We are right in the centre of something it would seem to have been instigated and bankrolled by Advent. They want Nexus, reunited with that glove, he will be unstoppable. Advent come to save the day, where we cannot and are hailed, heroes. Except perhaps Nexus can't be controlled and he wipes everyone out. The sooner we get to the control room and restore full security protocols the better. That is where I am heading, me and hopefully my little team. Are you up for joining us?" Lionheart added with a look of curiosity.

She smiles prettily.

"Of course each level down houses more and more dangerous villains so if we are struggling here what will level 7 be like?  Also, I wonder, would it be better if it is just the two of us?  If the lower levels don't have their power nullifiers working, using our speed to bypass Level 7 and the others, might get us to the big boss faster and still healthy enough to continue to fight our best.  But if the nullifiers are on, then more help we have the better.  What do you think?  Keep everyone who wants to go with us to level 6 and then just you and me level 7 on down?  Or everyone stay together who wants to go?"

Lionheart thought for a moment, Frostbite was the strategic thinking, not him.
"Well, I guess we'll go as far as we can with as many as we can, and take it from there. I owe these guys, but I don't want to put them into any more danger than they can handle. We've lost one also."

OOC: Provided the others are willing to come, I'm good to go. Are there any more like them, on the lower levels I wonder? Folk whom we can recruit into helping us?

After some food, a shower and change of prison orange the 'team' such as it was were ready to move on.

Mindshark, still bruised and battered, was ordering people around mentally but turned to speak to Lionheart and Miss Victory. "I'm not sure quite what you are trying to achieve. Your doom is assured on the lower levels. However, I wish you well and please note that Level four shall stand with you if need be. I will not soon forget what you have done for me. The Russians shall remain under guard and Red Son will not be harmed - if he cooperates. There are prisoners who can keep him 'on ice' so to speak if need be but as always challenges remain."

He straightens his glasses, one of which eyepieces were splintered and cracked. "I shall not shake hands no pretend to be a friend. I am, after all, a villain who is in here to pay for his crimes. When the power nullifiers are restored you will be as powerless as the rest of us and I wish you luck in getting out of here alive. To all of us. It is my task in the time that remains until that moment to convince the prisoners on this level and on Level five where Warlock holds court to prepare and be ready for more anarchy. Superpowers keep everyone in check at the moment even as the nullifiers with the armoured guards did before. Of course, if you fail, then this may be the last time I see you alive."

He nods to each. "I wish you luck. Miss Victory, rest assured that even though I know who you are, I will take the knowledge of your identity to my grave. That much I owe you at the least."

Obsidian watched him go and muttered "Well well, seems there is honour among thieves."

Lupus was quiet and Possessor came over. "He's been like that since the fight. Maybe he'll come round. I'll keep an eye on him."

Giving free passage at the guarded doorway to the stairwell leading down, the group went down to level five...

A knock on the door, opened a crack and it opened further. "Word was sent. You are to report to Warlock." said a Prisoner. A guard of half a dozen prisoners was stood there alongside the half a dozen left in charge of doorway security but Lionheart detected no danger.

With her costume tucked away under her prison orange Miss Victory felt more 'dressed' now. Lionheart was in his own prison orange but in the time it took to blink he could be in his super costume. Again for purposes of safety walking about as a costumed hero was ill advised...

Miss V also had the half dozen power pills. She was 'powered down' at the moment with her last tablet having worn off but held them ready to pop at a moments notice.

Eventually they were led into a room that was wide and open, the gathered prisoners in there all powerful and stern looking.



The sternest, most powerful of them all was a giant over seven feet high and almost as wide who made the hulking Obsidian look like a 90lb weakling.

"I'd heard you survived, deposed Red Son and restored Mindshark to control of level four. Not only have we negotiated a truce but we are talking about trade of food, supplies and medical equipment between our two levels. We are also going through our personnel manifests to form a 'strike team'. There are others who are more persuasive and they will be sent as envoys to level three and two." he growled, gravelly voice without much in the way of tone.

He stopped in front of Lionheart. Looking Richard King up and down he seemed to be appraising him. "The classification scale for superhumans is too narrow. Five scales are too general, too generic, but my instincts tell me you creep into the Class five level. bear in mind that the same scale has Nexus as a Class five too, which shows the flaws. She..." he turns to Miss Victory "I would put at a four, but on a good day...?" he smiles. "I wonder, which of you two..."

Obsidian coughs "Sir, they... we ... intend to go down to the lowest level and restore the power nullifiers then open this place up to the authorities."

Warlock looked up. He stared at Obsidian then shrugged. "Remember where your loyalty lies Obsidian and that will not be a problem." he turned to Miss Victory. "The medbay is still helping your friend Irradiator. Magma girl is with her, they are both fine. Hopefully with the help of level four we can uprate and improve the medbay. They have a number of ... heh... evil geniuses who can boost things along."

"You should know. We sent an envoy to level six. He did make it back... in several pieces. We are on a war footing with level six." growled Warlock.

Miss Victory waits for Lionheart to introduce himself as she isn't sure what he wants to be known as. Obsidian knows the truth and he didn't offer it so she keeps her mouth shut too.

Lionheart didn't seem the least bit intimidated by Warlock, though he could tell he was a powerful being."Impressive...pleased to meet you Warlock, glad we're on the 'same side'" He said with a cheeky wink. But at the same time, there was no arrogance or humour in it.

Lionheart grunted, "Thank you, I knew it would be tough going down further, glad to see you guys have established some order, otherwise I guess you'd be ruling as king over bodies and little else. Where's a bit thin when there's no one to fetch you a cuppa anytime! Any idea who is in charge below?"

Lionheart was aware that he wanted to plumb for as much info as he could, but at the same time to treat it with a fair degree of suspicion not just because of who was giving it but also because it could be flat out wrong. Each level, sealed off from the others, had become its own colony, a truce with some dominion with others. What surprised Lionheart was why the lower decks weren't sufficiently organised to flood the upper. Perhaps that was coming, as the larger pieces below fought for who was Alpha.

OOC: OK we get what we came for, I check with Possessor and Lup if they still are in on this and we head down I guess. Gulp! How a prison like this could house these differing folks at all beggars belief.

"I'm heading to the medbay to check on Irradiator and Magma Girl and see if they want to join us," Miss Victroy tells the team. "Obsidian, I never asked you but are you staying here or joining us in trying to bring this place under control before Advent shows up to take everyone out?

Warlock growled. "Mages are in charge of Level six. They invited me to join them, I declined. They seem to have cowed the populace of level six to do their bidding. A cabal I believe with no overall leader and that may be something that can be exploited. Powerful egos rarely work well together." he rasped.

Obsidian considered Miss Victorys question. "I feel like a fifth wheel with you and the Limey but I'll tag along. As mentioned, I'm Warlocks man so I'll need to report and get back here. What happens when all this is resolved? Who knows. If the big bads on level eight or nine figure out how to reactivate the power nullifiers on level seven to one we will all be powerless. That doesn't help them unless Nexus gets his gauntlet in which case...? Heck they could probably walk straight out. With his power restored the Nullifiers won't even affect him unless he wants them to."

"Do not underestimate anyone!" said Warlock. "The good part is the stairwell to six continues down to seven on that side. Then you will have to make your way across level seven for the stairwell to level eight and from the middle of level eight you can get to the control room." He frowns, staring hard at Lionheart and Miss Victory. "Remember who your allies are. If by some miracle you survive and gain control of this place remember that I and level five have helped you and so in his own way, has Mindshark. Perhaps this is a chance for us to atone, to start anew and begin a life without crime. Consider this, though if the authorities find you helped us you may be in trouble yourself."

Lupus and Possessor waited to the side. Both would come with the heroes though Lupus was reluctant.

Lionheart didn't like the sound of magic, he hated the stuff. It was difficult to understand to a man of the future, too much eye of newt, and tongue of toad for him. But he respected the fact that it remained powerful in its own way. He nodded to Warlock, in appreciation of the information. And nodded to the others to gather whatever they needed, and head on out.
