Re: The Ultrahumans! Issue #3 starring Miss Victory and Lionheart "And there came a reckoning!"
Lionheart was one of the smartest people on the planet. His intelligence, combined with Saladins' meant his IQ fell into that rare range not easily measured by 'mere mortals'.
Since his 'boost' in power and abilities he'd found things to be easier in ways he could never dream of. Faster than thought, stronger than almost anyone, invulnerable to even nuclear munitions, the list went on.
These kind of calculations would normally take time, a room full of rocket scientists and lots of equations on a whiteboard.
Or he could simply 'boost' his intelligence.
OOC Power Reserve 15 into Intelligence (to 25). For reference Lex Luthor is 14, Reed Richards is 13, the watcher is 17, Galactus is 24... All of these scales work on Superman as the high watermark for superheroes however, so for our game purposes assume we are somewhere between pre crisis and post crisis with regards DC Heroes power levels. Aside from Lex Luthor, the other Int figures are fan derived.
With 25 Intelligence things change from 'really really hard' to 'let's go for broke'.
Going for broke is the same as Critical blow or Devastating attack in combat. You sacrifice accuracy for increased damage.

1) Lionheart has a rough idea of the size of asteroid needed and can make a reasonable guess as to where to place it, but will require time and effort to place it exactly.
2-3) He has a clearer idea of the positioning required and an exact knowledge of how large the asteroid needs to be
4-6) Because he knows the size of the asteroid required he can adjust the distance and positioning so as not to require quite as big an asteroid.
7-9) At a glance Lionheart will know what Asteroid is suitable, where to place it and how big an area of shadow it will cast around Ultrahumans HQ. His knowledge is so exact he can make a very educated guess to within a couple of feet to how far the shadow will expand around the Ultrahuman HQ so can adjust it as he sees fit. All he needs to do is get to the asteroid belt, pluck a large rock out and use his super senses (telescopic vision mostly) as well as his super brain to make a mental note of the angle and distance required.
Without going for broke Lionheart would not have known ANY of that! His Intelligence is massive, his Will (which is more like 'Perception' but acts as Strength with regards figuring things out in a mental fashion) is 'only' 7.
"I hope you are following all this." said Dr Maximus as he sketched on the floor with a felt pen from a pouch on his belt onto the floor. "The ultrahumans can bill me for the cleaning bill." he muttered as he sketched equations, angles, diagrams and more with blurring handspeed, his incredible mind working faster and many times more efficient than the smartest person in all of recorded human history!
"Hmmm. Perhaps ..." he pondered at several points in the equation.
Miss Victory was super smart, a genius and capable of following the equations to a degree but... she looked at the floor, with an area two feet across and four down filled with a mess of equations... She wondered if there might be some way to modify the Vita Pills' effects to boost her intelligence as well as her body to beyond superhuman levels. Think what she might accomplish!
"There. Cross that out. Loop to there, multiply it by itself and refer to this line." said Lionheart.
Maximus scowled, frowned, glanced. "That won't... what nonse... what?" He sketched a looping line, ran along it with his fingers and ran things through his mind. "It won't... there's no... the lag range can't..."
He sat back on his backside and blinked. "I don't believe it."
Anchor Man chuckled. "Ha! I never woulda thought I'd see th' day! I don't know what all dat garbage is friend but ya just shut brainbox up for th' first time ever!" he said and clapped Lionheart on the back!
The blow - without wanting to be painful or inflict any harm - would have been enough to swat a tank several hundred feet away!
Instead it bounced from Lionhearts' forcefield and Anchor Man toppled backwards to land on his own backside!
Maximus broke from his astonishment and laughed at his friend, whose face changed from amazement to crack his own smile. "DAT is why these two are 'Core' Ultrahumans pal!" laughed Anchor Man!
The two heroes helped each other up and Maximum suddenly frowned, glancing at his belt. A second later his phone chirped. It had been modified and rewired far beyond the manufacturers specifications... Maximus looked serious. "Several of the teams have engaged the villains."
He looked up. "It's not going well."
Time to go.
OOC Miss Victory going in with Anchor Man? Lionheart to outer space? Any other words or preparations? Needless to say what seems to be straightforward won't be quite so easy...

Re: The Ultrahumans! Issue #3 starring Miss Victory and Lionheart "And there came a reckoning!"
"Give me the layout of the base, Lionheart," Miss Victory asked. "Where you know our allies are being held or hiding, where you think various groups of villains are and where you think I can do the most good keeping them busy. I may not have your superspeed, but I can move pretty darn fast and I don't think the damage my running causes will be too big an issue for the base if it helps bring down a lot of villains. The base can be repaired after all, lost lives can't."
"I'll just play Tag with them until your return. Anchor Man, you and the others go for our captured or injured and hiding allies. I'll do my best to keep the biggest baddies off your backs until Lionheart returns."
ooc: Since she can't fly and can only last one hour in space, I think she would be more of a hinderance to Lionheart there. Picking up where he left off before everyone got inside, running around the base with her Running Speed upped to whatever level he can figure out with his big brain, where her wake can harm the villains but not kill them, is her current best choice.

Re: The Ultrahumans! Issue #3 starring Miss Victory and Lionheart "And there came a reckoning!"
OOC Moving things along. Apologies for the delay. I tend to set out to get a job done and everything else takes a back seat. The good part is that I'm not tripping over boxes of stuff all over the floor, and I discovered tools and stuff I'd forgotten I had. Bad part is that some of them I've bought again, so I have spares. Oh well.
Lionheart gave a rough layout of the base. It was as large as some of the biggest shopping malls and sprawled over half a dozen floors up and down.
It seemed the Ultrahumans base also served as the HQ for the United States equivalent of SMITE, at least on the eastern seaboard. The majority of those operatives had been scrambled across the country in the wake of the supermax outbreak. Many were injured or captive.
The British speedster had encountered more than thirty supermax escapees, all of a power level that made it risky to engage them especially when they were gathered in groups. Just a single powerful individual might prove potent enough to hold off an entire group of superheroes!
Throw Atomic Champion in the mix, a turncoat superhuman amongst the most powerful on Earth and with speed almost rivalling Lionhearts, and exceeding it in space... All it would take was to delay a group of heroes for long enough - seconds - and Atomic Champion could be on the scene. With power rivalling a nuclear explosion BEFORE his 'upgrade' using power stolen from Silver Sentinel... It was clear that this might be the most dangerous mission Miss Victory had ever undertaken!
For his part Lionheart knew time was ticking. He would have to fly to the Asteroid belt, further than he'd ever gone before with his flight and find a sufficiently large asteroid that he could still move and drag it towards the Earth!
The heroes gave a last nod to each other. If Miss Victory couldn't thin out or keep the villains busy then Lionheart would face off against a bad guy army on his own - with Atomic Champion at its head! At his 'normal' power levels Atomic Champion was one of the 'core' Ultrahumans. The most powerful, best of the best. Could Lionheart take him? He didn't know. If Atomic Champion had his bad guy buddies along?
No.
He had to PUSH himself faster than he'd ever flown! Cut the time down and get to the Asteroid belt in seconds rather than minutes. Then speed about, find the rock he needed and push it back. Except... he could apply his energy to his strength OR his flight. One problem at a time!
With a salute he took off then sped up as he got a mile or more up. The air behind him THOOOOMED! and burst into flames as he poured on the speed!
Miss Victory watched him go for a moment then sped into the lions den!

"Still alive, but in a bad way." growled Anchor Man.
The heroes they'd come across in a corridor were battered, bloodied and unconscious. Half a dozen of them, scattered like ninepins. With tattered costumes and angry purple bruises on exposed skin it was clear to Miss Victory and Anchor Man - who'd been moving through the complex to support other heroes - that the villains had made short work of the heroes and moved onto the next group.
"Problem we got is, a lot of these are kids. Super kids but WAY outta their league. Heck... look." he gently lifted a young woman up. "Not a mark on her."
Anchor Man scowled, the mask twisting as he realised the size of the task. "Bruisers are my thing. Mentalists and Mystics though... I don't do well 'gainst them."
Pulling out a small communicator with chunky fingers he whispered "Maximus? You there?"
"Receiving. Your signal is faint. The structure of this place blocks most, if not all signals. If not for my enhanced technology all communications would be down. As it is they won't..." said the genius hero who was coordinating from the outside.
"Yeah yeah, you're real smart and great at gadgets. Look, ya gotta get someone in here ta this location. We got six kids down and out and ... two... three maybe more are in a bad way. Something smashed through 'em. We ain't got time ta get em out. Send someone in, but watch yer self. The bad guys are fast, brutal an' they don't mess around. Ya got dat?"
Static.
Anchor Man scowled. "These kids need medical attention. Left here, some of 'em are gonna die! You wanna run em outside or should I?"

Lionheart broke free of the atmosphere and spared a glance at the silver dot in the sky that was the Ultrahumans satellite where the American President was held hostage!
He'd tried - and failed - to make much progress there and knew he needed to focus on the job at hand!
With the equations he'd helped Maximus with, the direction of the sun, relative position of the Earth and position of the solar systems' astral bodies in his mind thanks to Maximus (who seemed to know pretty much everything - perhaps he was connected to the internet or had somehow memorised it. All of it...) Lionheart knew which direction to fly in and how far he needed to go.
OOC LIONHEART HP 41
MISS VICTORY HP 30
Ok. At Lionhearts normal top speed - that is applying all his power reserve into flight to boost it up to 29APs - is the speed of light. A bit over it actually! That means he can fly to the sun in about 8 1/2 minutes to 16 minutes. Somewhere in that range. The Earth to the Sun is 37APs distance.
The asteroid belt is twice as far away up to three times further away depending on whereabouts the Earth is at any moment in time. Vast distances. The Earth to the Asteroid belt is 38APs distance.
You can shrink that time by 'pushing' your power reserve to boost your flight. Problem with this is that every boosted point will cost 3HP per point.
Because you lent Miss Victory those hero points you can claim up to 28 of them back but you may want to leave her some to deal with some of the challenges she will face int he Ultrahumans HQ. That's something you should discuss between the pair of you. Then decide, Dave E, if you want to:
1) Fly at normal maximum speed (29APs) and get there somewhere between 15-30 minutes.
2) Push your power reserve and boost flight to jump the distance in a shorter time. That will cost Hero points to buy an extra die or two, hope the dice rolls are kind and pay 3HP for every point you boost speed by.
Bear in mind you need to get there, search about for the right rock then figure out how to get it back. Big rock weighs more so you'll need more strength but that will reduce your speed. Smaller rock you may be able to move with standard strength (14) but will have to get the calculations right for the much smaller rock to cast the shadow.
Miss Victory has as hard or a harder job than Lionheart. Does she hunt out the bad guys, save the dying good guys, or try to lure the bad guys into an area where the good guys can jump them, pick them off one by one... your call.

ooc: What I was thinking for Miss Victory was to play cat and mouse with the villains for the 15-30 minutes needed for Lionheart to get there and back. She would be off doing different kinds of sabotage that would keep the villains chasing her and/or trying to fix what she does. The other heroes can gather up the wounded and get them to safety.
She doesn't have superspeed to do all the multi-tasks Lionheart did but she does have running to get her to place to place quickly, so things like hitting and damaging power stations or relays that someone would have to then fix to keep power going in that section of the base, smashing interior cameras so they can't see what's going on, damaging the teleporters so they can't get help from the base in space or flee there, destroying or corrupting the food processors, gathering all laxatives from the medbay and dumping it in the coffee and tea urns or even the water supply - let them try fighting or fixing things while suffering from the runs, overloading the washing machines with too much soap and letting run and suds flowing out into the corridors. Petty things and things that could delay or inconvenience the foes is what she is looking for rather than defeating them. If she stands and fights more than one round, Atomic Champion and others could be on her so fast it would all be over for her the next round.
Hit and Run. Hit and Run. Do some damage. Do something that slows them down. So something that spreads them out.
Oh! Cooking oil and/or machine oil - grab cans of it and spread the oil all along hallways and let them slip and slide! Marbles or ball bearings would do as well.
And I just saw this in the Flight power and Lionheart might consider it for later power development.

OOC: I will leave the HP that Miss V has she will need it, and whilst she is trying to keep everyone busy, I will depart for my mission...to infinity (nearly)...with the stella navigation powers that would be pretty awesome.

Re: The Ultrahumans! Issue #3 starring Miss Victory and Lionheart "And there came a reckoning!"
LIONHEART
Speeding up, up and away, the clouds zipped past and left the British superhero in the great blue yonder beyond. That sped up to a darkness that spread in heartbeats and became the blackness of near space.
Once upon a time Lionheart could run reasonably quickly - keep up with a car maybe. That was a lifetime ago. So much had happened since those humble early beginnings as a neophyte PSICorps agent tracking Saladin down to the 21st Century for the crimes he'd committed in the 22nd. Of course that as clear cut and black/white as he'd been told and it turned out the 1st Generation PSICorps had been turned into living weapons by their creators then destroyed when their usefulness was at an end. Of course they'd fight back.
And all roads had led to this moment. Lionheart and Saladin combined, their mental prowess and power magnified millions of times by their mind merging. One of the most powerful super beings on Planet Earth, Lionheart was now an Ultrahuman and more than that - one of the Core. The best, the most powerful, versatile, the best chance for humanity to weather any of the myriad cosmic spanning storms that threatened the planet.
He glanced below. Earth was a dot, not even that and he scanned the blackness of space to determine the correct direction and pour on his speed. Lightspeed in fact.
Lionheart flashed through space.
OOC Unless Lionheart risks pushing his speed it will take time to get to the Asteroid belt. In the meantime Miss Victory will have to hold the fort and stem the tide of evil from the villains inside the Ultrahumans HQ.
Will update Miss Victory when I get back from the dentist, always a pleasurable experience

OOC: Hope the dentist goes well. Don't envy you. Lionheart will push his powers to go faster, time is of the essence here after all.

Re: The Ultrahumans! Issue #3 starring Miss Victory and Lionheart "And there came a reckoning!"
OOC Well at my/our age a trip to the dentist is never going to be fun. From early age it's preventative. Now it's too late, and this is what it's gonna cost... Apparently looking at a big bill at some point but that will have to wait for when my finances allow (replacing fillings but one tooth is all filling apparently). Meh. Problem for another day.
First up. Lionheart/Dave.
To 'push' anything in this game you effectively pit your existing stat/power against itself. If you come out on top you pay 3HP for every point you gain up to the maximum the dice allow you to add. If you fail, your power burns out to nothing for 1 hour (regeneration doesn't help!). For lionheart that means pushing Power Reserve (which adds to his Flight when he wants to pour it on, as well as most of his other abilities like Superspeed and mental abilities etc) or Flight. If flight drops to zero you can still fly, sort of, using Telekinesis albeit much, much slower. If you blow either, the mission is a bust because Miss Victory and the Super Hero army won't last an hour against Atomic Champion and his bad guys.
No pressure then.
You can make a straight up dice vs dice roll. Hope your dice roll comes out better than mine.
You can tip the odds more in your favour by buying extra dice, 6HP for one, 13HP for two, 21HP for three. bear in mind there is a cost of 3HP per point of improvement to pay as well. AND... you have to get back. You have 41HP. Think carefully about how you want to spend them, you will probably only get one shot at this...

Re: The Ultrahumans! Issue #3 starring Miss Victory and Lionheart "And there came a reckoning!"
MISS VICTORY
The heroine crouched and pressed a finger to the neck of the hero on the floor. He was laying prone, twisted. Her keen mind saw the scorch marks on the floor, the blasted costume, the burn marks.
Someone powerful had blasted at him, he'd tumbled and spun, banged off walls and floor then crashed against the corridor wall. Some of the walls were weaker partitions of specially reinforced alloy and others were structural of Promethium and or Adamantium. The scale of this place, designed to withstand the worst of any Alien, Nuclear, Supervillain or Extradimensional army or megavillain, was staggering. The cost, incalculable. In fact the cost of this place, the materials and equipment involved, the scale of it and the fact that no place on Earth came close to this base the Ultrahumans called home.
Miss Victorys' keen mind could tell from the dents, scorch marks and eventual resting place of the fallen hero at her feet where steel ended and impenetrable Promethium began.
He was alive. Just. Dying, certainly but someone had encountered the young hero, whoever he was, blasted him, and moved on.
This was the third such site of a battle she'd encountered. In each of them young superheroes had been steam rollered. This was the closest to death, but all the others wouldn't be up and walking around any time soon.
Miss Victory stood. She'd been racing through the complex and being in as many places at once as she could. She'd run the villains ragged knowing some were chasing her. Been into a mess hall, laid traps, set alarms off, trashed cameras where she found them.
The heroes had been pushing through the place, searching room by room. Then Atomic Champion had sent his allies out and running battles had broken out. They hadn't run for very long. The heroes were powerful in their own way but Atomic Champions' allies were powerful super villains who'd broken out of a the Mega Max Security prison. Then there was Atomic Champion himself. Depending on the power level of the fallen, charred hero at her feet it might have been Atomic Champion himself who'd attacked him.
"Skrrrzzzz.... Miss Victory! It's Anchor Man! I'm under fire, pinned down, me an' a dozen kids. I got injured here and half a dozen bad guys. Some of them blast, others are supposed tough guys... pah... then they got mentalists. Don't know how long I can hold 'em. This is a bust! We're outgunned here and they locked the doors ta this place when we came in, forcefield an' all. They ain't trapped in here wid us... we're trapped in here with DEM!" said Anchor Man over the temporary network signal that Doctor Maximus had set up for the heroes. It would be jammed, but then it would be set up again almost instantly. For every frequency the Ultrahumans defences shut down, Maximus' computer program set up another half dozen. Eventually they'd all be shut down and silence would reign.
"HEADS UP!"
A voice over the tannoy. Miss Victory glanced up and around her.
"This is Atomic Champion. By now you must know how hopelessly screwed you are. There's a lot of you superheroes in here. You have us outnumbered... ooooh! I'm scared! Except... we have you outgunned. Massively. You can't get out, so it's a matter of time before we get to you, pound you into the floor and move onto the next group."
There was a pause.
"I don't want anyone to die but it's the nature of the business. When you see my guys, drop to your knees hands behind your head and let them cuff you. The cuffs will null your powers and you'll be stuffed in a locked room. Humbled? Sure. Powerless like all the sheep out there? Yes. Most important of all, you'll live to fight another day and get to listen to a proposal I got for ya. Ya see, the President is captive, Washington DC is trashed. Super bad guys are ruling the roost and the authorities ain't got jack. Before society crumbles the people of America will be given a choice. You can be part of that decision making process, but on the shiny end of the stick. The sh*tty end is what anyone gets when they don't toe the line. There's gonna be some changes. Some hard decisions to make. it won't be easy, but it will - eventually - make the Earth a better place. Think about it."
A pause then
"Don't take too long. If my guys come across you and you're not on your knees you are gonna take a pasting and I can't guarantee your safety or your life. Sorry, but the choice is clear if you are smart. This is Atomic Champion. I am in charge here. Don't make me kill you."
The tannoy went quiet.
Miss Victory glanced at the fallen hero on the floor then noticed several other scorch marks along the wall and floor.
He'd been part of a team. The others hadn't made it.
Somewhere - not too far away - it sounded like a battle had just started!

Re: The Ultrahumans! Issue #3 starring Miss Victory and Lionheart "And there came a reckoning!"
"Anchor Man," Miss Victory said over the communicator, "Do what you need to do for yourself and your team. Out."
It was killing her that she couldn't stand and fight but she would be overpowered by the villains here if she did, just as she was in the supermax prison over and over again, and no one she tried to save lived. She was trembling, knowing she was in the exact same situation again but this time it was heroes, not criminals who were dying around her. All she could do was buy time and wait for Lionheart to come in and weaken Atomic Champion enough that they could take him and the others down. And then maybe, just maybe, she this time she could save some of them.
ooc: Head for the sounds of fighting. Current plan is to mental blast or punch one or two of the foes that she thinks she can hit and maybe take down - Once -and then keep running, don't stay with the fight, more sabotage and whatever else she can do to slow down and harass the villains. Hit and run, sabotage, harass. It's all she can do. IF she sticks for a fight, she will lose, she is convinced of that. The villains have too many speedsters and overpowered foes for her to do more than that.

Re: The Ultrahumans! Issue #3 starring Miss Victory and Lionheart "And there came a reckoning!"
MISS VICTORY
The heroine was mindful that every minute ticking by was taking time from the Vita pill effect. If she was caught 'in between' pills she'd be dead.
A sobering thought but having seen the dark stains on the polished metal floor she knew the stakes being fought over were the highest.
The majority - not all but a high percentage - of active super heroes in the country had been lured here to help reclaim the Ultrahumans HQ. The initial plan to wipe them out had been stopped by Lionheart and Miss Victory when they stopped the Mega bombs from going off and depowering/killing those outside the Ultrahumans HQ (which was pretty much invulnerable to nuclear munitions) and doubtless thousands in the New York area.
Going inside the place to stop Atomic Champion once and for all, to bring his villain army to justice, had been the plan.
Now it was a deathtrap, the heroes inside split up and looking for survivors, captives, anyone who needed saving and to stop the villains once and for all. Instead the villains - who were outnumbered but more powerful (by far) - were capturing or slaughtering the heroes they came across and only Miss Victory could really stand out as the one opponent they couldn't easily take down!
Anchor man and others on his level were powerful in their own right but would soon be overwhelmed as those lesser powered heroes around them were thinned out and slaughtered.
Atomic Champion though... even Miss Victory stood no chance against him in his current state. Lionheart would struggle even on his best day and the heroines' battle with Omni Man would be regarded as a minor skirmish against a training dummy in comparison even though it had taken Miss Victory and half a dozen Ultrahumans to finally stop him.
If Atomic Champion caught up with her, would she be a darkened stain on a polished metal floor?
Scowling at the thought she raced through the corridors and stopped to check most of the rooms. One she ran on from then stopped and sped back.
Inside were a group of dark blue clad Ultrahuman support operatives. These people would be 'the best of the best', trained and in many cases enhanced by science to be borderline superhuman in everything from Intelligence to physical capabilities. They helped to run this huge place, act as security and fill in wherever needed to keep the Worlds greatest and most powerful superhero team on the rails.
There were two bodies in the corner covered with sheets. Four others were in the room and two of them were down. One was missing a leg and a bandage was soaked with blood at the stump above the knee. Another clutched at a scorched mess that had been a forearm. Her face down once side was blistered and fried and the hair on that side of her head was gone, the angry red puckered skin suggesting she'd been caught up in a stray blast that would have killed an ordinary human and left a borderline superhuman near death.
The man and the woman administering aid were working as fast as they could with medkits, their contents spread all over. "Hang on." the man said to the burned woman. "The heroes will get us out of this."
The other man, treating the fellow with the missing leg, was tearing up strips of a shirt to use as a bandage. "We'll get you fixed up, just gotta hold on Parker!"
Parker gritted his teeth, then glanced beyond the first aider and saw Miss Victory in the doorway. He grunted and the four of them turned to look at the heroine. Her clothes were torn, sooted, her face dirty and hair a mess but she remained a vision of hope and beauty to those in the room who relaxed when they realised she was 'one of theirs'.
Before anyone could speak there was a voice from the corridor.
"There's one!" came a shout!
Miss Victory looked out into the corridor.
Four villains were moving down the corridor. One was a brute, muscles upon muscle and a look between rage and glee on his face as he jogged towards where Miss Victory stood in the doorway. Another looked more or less like a caveman save for the foot long razor sharp claws jutting from each hand. The woman of the four was wreathed in mist which had strange shapes in it, like animals... or demons. Another man was partially tangible and energy glowed around his hands.
"Well lookee here!" drawled Brute, the muscle bound guy. "Bagsy I get some play time wid her!"
"Take her down like the others" hissed the woman, Sinistress!
"Mind out she may be hiding weapons in that costume!" laughed the semi tangible guy, Alchemist.
"Carve pretty lady up!" grunted Caveman.
OOC they are down the corridor about fifty feet away. Miss Victory could probably escape but there's no chance the injured Ultra Support Staff can get out of the room...

I don't want to push things (since when have my die rolls ever been that good) have them go kaput just when I need them most and get stranded. If the kaput on earth at least I can throw myself at them, but in space, I might as well go to sleep. So no pushing just yet. But let's get this done.

Re: The Ultrahumans! Issue #3 starring Miss Victory and Lionheart "And there came a reckoning!"
Miss Victory couldn't stay and fight, if she did, they would lose as the villainous speedsters and Atomic Champion could be down on her in seconds! But ... she couldn't leave these brave folk to die either.
"Grab your wounded and RUN," she yells at the group. "Fallback and work on them later or you will all die!"
ooc: Shifting Power Reserve - max out Strength to 23, put the rest into Dex, use her Running of 8 to get up to the 4 villains and multi-attack all four villains. I would like to go for a crit hit them but the partially intangible one probably means I might miss if I do and may miss anyways if I don't. So no crit this time. I think punching will give me a slightly better chance to hit them all than mental blast would - martial arts of 8 vs accuracy of 7 for mental blast and dex being higher than Int or Will, whichever is used.

Re: The Ultrahumans! Issue #3 starring Miss Victory and Lionheart "And there came a reckoning!"
LIONHEART
Knowing the potential was inside to 'push' beyond any limits the hero found it tempting but had to resist. Failure would cast him adrift in space, and whilst he would - eventually - recover whatever was happening back at Ultrahumans HQ would be over and done with!
He ploughed on through the inky blankness of space, reflecting that this was possibly the furthest he'd ever flown from Earth!
OOC Lionheart may be 'out of it' for a few posts as Miss Victory has her hands full. So do I. Typing whilst having nearly severed a thumb (don't ask!) is tricky! Thought about the hospital but instead chucked a few plasters on it yesterday and whilst iffy to type with I can imagine. Plus it was self inflicted, so stupidity etc.

MISS VICTORY
OOC initiative...
Roll(5d12)+0:

Miss Victory 34 + 4 (38)
Sinistress 28 + 2 (30)
Alchemist 25 + 1 (26)

Brute 19 + 12 (31)
Miss V is up, then Brute, Sinistress, Caveman and Alchemist.
Mental Blast is Miss V's best attack (23 APs) but powering up to that would leave less points for Dex and that's good for defence, initiative, attack etc... Maybe split points to boost Dex and Str and go for a Dev Attack if need be. If you hadn't moved you could use your Move action to instead switch points to Dex to provide better defence. As this is a [rules knowledge]sorta need to know the rules[/rules knowledge] thing I am happy to re-do this whole round if you fancy a change of tactic.
Anyway, first up, Multi Attack, no Crit, on all four.

When you use a power at the beginning of a round before initiative (like Power Reserve and switching points about) it uses up one of your three actions in the round as an automatic action. You can then move (or auto action) and Dice action (or auto action). Defensive powers like Skin Armour are 'always on'.
Your best attack is Mental Blast 23
Best defence is Dex, so switch points to Mental Blast (1 auto action), blast with Mental Blast (dice action) then switch points to Dex (Auto Action) with the other points put where you want them. Body I suggest. I'd also suggest using some of your 4 dice for attack for Defence (you can use up to 2D for defence).
Your call anyway. No need (as it turned out) to rejig the round (thankfully). This stuff takes a bit of time to type up (no time at all to resolve thanks to the No need for tables House Rules. Ahem. )

Let's go with your suggestion this time with Crit blow. Multi-attack all four.
"Don't stand around, take your people and go!," Miss Victory yells to the folks who apparently didn't run or do anything this last round.

Re: The Ultrahumans! Issue #3 starring Miss Victory and Lionheart "And there came a reckoning!"
Having gathered up (as best they could) the wounded the operatives behind shuffled and jogged into the corridor behind Miss Victory in the opposite direction of the battle!
Thankful they took heed of her words Miss Victory rejigged the mental energy in her body to fire up synapses and neural pathways to enhance and hone her powers in the direction she willed!
OOC i.e. Switched points about.
Mental Blast 23 (using 19 points) 4 points into Body (boosting from Body 4/7 to BODY 8/11 HP30 for Miss Victory)
CRIT BLOW Av23 + 2D Accuracy (need to put that note on character sheet) (2D Defence) + Roll(4d12)+0:

Trying to hit all four, Miss Victory succeeded in hitting no one as the Caveman proved astonishingly agile, leaping about and weaving under the strafing beam from Miss Victorys' forehead!
"Watch out!" yelled Alchemist. "She's got more in her bag of tricks!"
OOC Switching points. 13 to Dex (23) and remaining 10 to boost body. Miss Victory Body now BODY 14/17 HP30
Sinistress blasts again with her magic, the blast once more coming from a point some way to the right of where she stood!
Magic Blast 13 + Roll(2d12)+0: 1,11,+0 Total:12 (25) vs
OV8 + Roll(2d12)+0: 7,12,+0 Total:19 (27) MISSED!
Once more her blast goes astray and the sorceress mutters "I don't know who she is but she is good."

Unlike normal pushing Adrenaline Surge does not 'fail' but Brute has one of my favourites - power burnout - if he rolls low enough. For now...
Brute roared... then shrunk! He was still big but not inhumanly so and he hung back knowing that even if he landed a blow he'd more likely hurt his hand. "Who IS dis dame?" he growled.
Alchemist laughed "Don't sweat it! I got this!"
OOC Energy Blast again

"Tasty lady too fast to hunt" grunted Caveman.
OOC initiative again.

Brute is up next, roaring with rage as he takes another swing at Miss V!
OOC Adren Surge go for broke +12/-18
Adren Surge 20 + Roll(2d12)+0: 6,5,+0 Total:11 (31) vs
OV6 + 12 GFB + Roll(2d12)+0: 4,10,+0 Total:14 (32) FAILED
Unlike normal pushing Adrenaline Surge does not 'fail' but Brute has one of my favourites - power burnout - if he rolls low enough. For now...
Brute roared... then shrunk! He was still big but not inhumanly so and he hung back knowing that even if he landed a blow he'd more likely hurt his hand. "Who IS dis dame?" he growled.
Alchemist laughed "Don't sweat it! I got this!"
OOC Energy Blast again
Av15 + Roll(2d12)+0: 7,1,+0 Total:8 (23) vs
OV23 + 2D Defence + Roll(4d12)+0: 6,12,9,1,+0 Total:21 (44) MISSED!
Seeing the energy blast come past her as she stepped calmly aside, Miss Victory heard the villain muttered "No one is THAT fast!"
Caveman grunted and swung at the heroine!

OV23 + 2D Defence + Roll(4d12)+0: 8,7,6,3,+0 Total:15 (38) MISSED!
"Tasty lady too fast to hunt" grunted Caveman.
OOC initiative again.
With Dex 23 this is more an exercise to see which villain goes first. Now you know the ins/outs of switching points about feel free to play with it...
Roll(5d12)+0:

Miss Victory 41 + 8 (49)
Alchemist 25 + 11 (36)
Caveman 20 + 12 (32)
Sinistress 28 + 4 (32)
Brute 19 + 6 (25)
I've rejigged them in order to make it easy for me to read, fastest to slowest. You're up.
Re: The Ultrahumans! Issue #3 starring Miss Victory and Lionheart "And there came a reckoning!"
Let's do it again same way but this time leave Caveman out of the attack, just go for the other 3. And "YAY!" accuracy for almost hitting them.

Re: The Ultrahumans! Issue #3 starring Miss Victory and Lionheart "And there came a reckoning!"
OOC Apologies for the delay David/Dave. Aside from holiday, the fragile thumb (-1/-3 vs typing or picking anything up) has been pretty much to blame. Typing a reply only to frantically have to mop blood up from all over the keyboard is a pain.
MISS VICTORY
Miss Victory knew time wasn't on her side. One of these clowns would tag her again. Before she knew it she'd be on the floor, blows raining in. This time she needed to make it count!
OOC Mental Blast 23 (using 19 points) 4 points into Body (boosting from Body 4/7 to BODY 8/11 HP30 for Miss Victory)
CRIT BLOW Av23 + 2D Accuracy (need to put that note on character sheet) (2D Defence) + Roll(4d12)+0:

Alchemist flowed around her blast and Miss Victory followed him, blasting against the walls ineffectively and missing everyone.
She was in trouble...
OOC Switching points. 13 to Dex (23) and remaining 10 to boost body. Miss Victory Body now BODY 14/17 HP30
"You fools!" said a disembodied voice from somewhere to the side of Sinistress. "She is one woman! Take her down!"
Sinistress blasts again with her magic, the blast once more coming from a point some way to the right of where she stood!
OOC Magic Blast 13 + Roll(2d12)+0: 12,1,+0 Total:13 (26) vs
OV8 + Roll(2d12)+0: 4,11,+0 Total:15 (23) Success +2
EV13 +2 (EV15) vs RV7=8 RAPs
Miss Victory must absorb 2 RAPs to stay conscious on Spirit 1/7 and is on 27HP but is STUNNED and cannot use skills this round or next, nor can she perform a dice action next round.
"At last!" screamed the sorceress as she drops her illusion and becomes visible around five or six feet to the side of where her illusionary self was! "Take her alive! We'll get vital information from her!" screamed the spell slinger!
OOC Brutes' Adren Surge go for broke +12/-18
Adren Surge 20 + Roll(2d12)+0: 1,8,+0 Total:9 (29) vs
OV6 + 12 GFB + Roll(2d12)+0: 4,5,+0 Total:9 (27) Success +2
EV20 +2 (EV22) vs RV6 -18 GFB (-12 RV)=34 RAPs.
Brutes' strength boosts to an astonishing 40APs! He may, indeed, be the 'strongest there is!' (Uh, no, amazingly enough, but he's up there).
Brute roared again... then grew! His muscles swelled like obscene balloons and laughed out loud from an enlarged head. "Leave dis ta me!"
"Don't kill her!" shouted the woman.
"Yeah, yeah. I'll pull it. A little..." guffawed the brute...
OOC Pulling Punch Dex 9 + 4D M Arts + Roll(6d12)+0: 1,7,4,7,10,10,+0 Total:20 DOUBLE plus Roll(2d12)+0:
7,12,+0 Total:39 (48) vs
OV23 + Roll(2d12)+0: 2,9,+0 Total:11 (34) Success +5. It's all over for Miss V...
Ev40 + 5 (EV45) vs RV17 + Pull Punch 2 (RV19)=26 RAPs.
You don't have anywhere near that many Hero Points to absorb that much damage. You could absorb 6 points but that would leave 20 getting through and putting Miss V down...
MISS VICTORY Spirit 1/7 Body 0/7 HP 27
Struck with a blow more powerful than any she'd taken before, Miss Victory was out for the count before she crashed to the floor!
OOC You don't have Regeneration but you can pay 15HP for a Desperation Recovery Check. You can do this the round after the next one (still stunned) or at any point after that up to an hour (where you make a normal recovery check). Bear in mind your pill will run out if you leave it too long... Your call.
You were scuppered by doubles and maybe could have done better by targeting individuals or two targets at most but were up against it. Anyone would have struggled against a couple of these guys, never mind all four. Still, those dice... last time round I forgot to apply the multi attack modifier. So a multi attack and a crit blow was maybe over-reaching but the dice had the biggest say.

ooc: Yeah, that's why I went with only attacking 3 of them instead of 4 this time but those doubles wiped even that little bit of an advantage out, so even my accuracy of 7 didn't help much. And you know, I thought I had a low level regen but turns out I don't. Most of my other characters do so that's why I thought I did. Be a bit expensive to get for her since I would have linked it to the Vita Pill which means it has to be high enough to work in less than an hour.
Let's do a bit of metagaming and do a desperation recovery check like about 10 minutes before the vita pill runs out. that might give her enough time to get free from wherever the crooks put her. And give Lionheart a chance to be closer to home.

Re: The Ultrahumans! Issue #3 starring Miss Victory and Lionheart "And there came a reckoning!"
MISS VICTORY
OOC yeah Miss V is incredibly versatile being able to switch about from Dex (attack/defence/initiative) to Str, Body and so on but recovery from injuries is a bit of a hole in her abilities. Maybe something to look at when (if!) you scrape through this challenge!
Body 7 + Roll(2d12)+0: 9,11,+0 Total:20 (27) vs
OV0 + Roll(2d12)+0: 8,12,+0 Total:20 (20) Success + 4
Body 7 +3 (EV11) vs RV0=7 RAPs
Miss Victory is on 7 Body
She woke...
That was the hardest punch she'd ever taken. Her jaw was swollen and head ringing but finding out her head was still attached was a bonus!
Dr Veronica Chase was a genius by any measure. Having worked, refined, ditched, built from the ground up and timed to the second the effects of her pill, she was someone who could know almost to the second how long time had passed. (OOC I don't really have to work at this. Most of the time I know roughly - within 10 minutes - what time it is. A by product of working shifts and having to get up for work/drive a train at precise times. It's also not great when you have a day off and your body clock gets you up at 0530 every morning for a few days regardless of what time you went to bed...)
That punch though.. .Miss Victory was strong, powerful by ANY measure. That punch was off the scale though. Something that could level mountains, pound through even the mightiest defence of the Ultrahumans HQ. Brute he called himself... and he was.
She opened an eye a crack.
The room was bathed in a strange green light. She was in a square room - no, a cell - and there were no doors or windows in the place. A slab jutting from the wall was a bed, a sit down built in unit for a toilet presumably and a sink next to it.
Something was wrong. She had no doubt a camera somewhere in the room would know when she moved and was awake, but she didn't feel... super... That light. Something was very wrong...
OOC It was indeed.
Miss Victory is in one of the holding cells in Ultrahumans HQ. That light is a power nullifier, which she'll find out about when she tries to use any of her superhuman abilities! Miss V may have to use her considerable brain to get out of this one!
