The Vanguard - Putty and Frostbite
Putty, bouyed by his success, slings another head sized fist at a foe... and almost ties himself in knots! With so many opponents it's hard to keep track of them and where his allies were in the corridor. Luckily, he gets away with his wild swing, and his arm retracts almost as fast as it shot out.
OOC 1d20+2+2+8=13 Miss, critical, for putty, 2d6+18=26. Roll of 3 applies to missile weapons, so you get away with this one.
OOC the bad guys aren't in great shape. The Vanguard and their new allies are, however. Still, fortunes can change on the roll of a die! This is round 3 of 5 for Frostbite. After round 5, he resets all energy. 1d10=6 Good Guys, 1d10=3 Bad Guys. 2 Frames to the good guys. Doesn't look like I've typed much here, but believe me, all the jigging about with graphs and pictures takes time I think it's worth it to break up pages of text though. Over to you.

[font=Arial Black]Frostbite
Yeah, yeah, yeah! Seriously great graphics and cool damage charts. Really helps with knowing what is going on. Thanks mate.
IC:
Frostbite pressed the attack home, seeking to use his his height to leverage his attacks and finish this fight before they were cornered by reinforcements.
OOC: ok I'm going to spend 4 more points to give me two fast attacks for 2d6 to two different opponents where it might be most effective. 2d6=4 HTC, 2d6=5 HTC So its not only you who gets low rolls, Paul!

The Vanguard - Lionheart and Stormwarden
Stormwarden smiled grimly as the jet swooped in towards him. Instead of moving away, he aimed straight towards them, aiming for the cockpit, bringing the hammer up to take the shock of the impact. "I hope this works" he murmured as he braced himself the impact. In the back of his mind was also the thought that the quicker he got to the ject, the less time there would be for the guns to engage.

The Vanguard - Putty and Frostbite
OOC in a rush as I'm just about to go to work, so will resolve the Vanguards' actions then do the other good guys/bad guys when I get home. After this, 2 days off so regular updates. Fight will be over in any case...
Putty weaved and ducked the blows from his foe. Up until a short time ago he was an ordinary young man at University, then his world had been turned upside down. Now he was literally in another world fighting for his life against creatures which housed the spirit of the undead!
OOC 1d20+2+2+8=31 Hit, 2d6+18=26 Htc, 1d20+2+2+8=28 Hit, 2d6+18=29 Htc. Both very solid hits... reduced by dividers to 13 and 14 Htc it results in...
One of the enemies attacking Archon had already been battered senseless by Putty. Another punch to the side of its head saw it reeling, then crash to the floor! (OOC Enemy 5 is out.) The other attacking Archon rocked as Frostbite attacked with cold (OOC 4htc) and Putty slammed a fist into it (OOC 14htc, both hits on Enemy 6) Frostbite followed up with another cold shock, (OOC 5htc to enemy 1)
OOC as mentioned, work now. Next up - Archon and the others, then the bad guys.

The Vanguard - Putty and Frostbite
Archon bellows in fury, whipping the fiery swords about in a criss cross pattern, one way, then back up the next, a heartbeat later...
OOC 1d20+1+8=19 Hit, 2d6+5=9 Htk, 1d20+1+8=20 Hit, 2d6+5=10 Htk. 19 Htk (and reduced dividers) on Will Sapper 6 means...
There's no sound from the Will Sapper attacking Archon. It simply staggers for a moment, then there is a hissing sound, and white smoke pours from thin lines criss-crossing the creatures' body. The upper half of its torso falls apart in four sections, black ooze in place of blood. Even before it's hit the floor the body splatters as black sludge and starts to sizzle. The thing is quite dead, and no longer able to house the spirit within, which gives a sibilant cry and dissipates.
Elesieth, cheered by her comrades' success, attacks with her own sword.
OOC 1d20+1+8=18 Hit, 2d6+3=9 Htk, 1d6=5 Htc. The magical blade reduces dividers, meaning the one facing Elesieth takes the full damage.
The Will Sapper staggers and glances about. Though they were a living form acting as a symbiont for an undead spirit, they knew that death was final, and went for the spirit too. The enemies they faced were no ordinary warriors! Though they'd expect to defeat the elf, and the Archon a short time later, the two they faced were of several magnitudes higher than anything they had faced before.
And for a creature 'on top of the pecking order' that was unnerving indeed!
Still, they knew the penalty for failure, and pressed their attack! One went for Archon, another for Putty and one for Frostbite.
OOC 1d20+1+8=25 Hit on Archon, 2d6+10=19, 1d20+1+6=22 Hit on Putty, 2d6+10=18, 1d20+1+6=15 Miss on Frostbite, 2d6+10=21 And the 'special attack'... 1d100=52 ineffective on Archon, 1d100=10 effective on Putty.. Putty has been struck for a total of 6 Htk after reduced dividers + a special attack. Response? Archon cries out and takes 19 Htk
OOC Response for Putty, and remaining frames (2) for you guys and 1 for Archon, Elesieth and Kerla

Re: The Vanguard! Issue #4 - Knifes Edge...
The Vanguard - Lionheart and Stormwarden
(OOC that's at the start of what's about to happen...)
On the top of the jet Lionheart ground his teeth against the strain. His superhuman fingers dug into the aluminium body of the jet, shrieking protests from the metal contrasting with the howl of high speed winds. Suddenly his eyes flashed, the lion on his chest and belt glowed, and he felt, with unseeing hands, for some sort of handle, control or button on the inside of the jet.
Meanwhile Stormwarden came about. He held the hammer in front of him, then soared as fast as he could right at the jet!
=========
Mistress Might looked out the view screen. "What is he... OPEN FIRE! ALL WEAPONS!" she cried, causing the others to jump in their seats before complying!
=========
Lionheart glanced up - what was...? His eyes widened as he saw his friend flying head on into the jets' path! Before he could suck up the air to say anything there was a massive...
Stormwarden blinked. Half of him lay inside the cockpit of the jet, wind howling all about. There were Nazi metahumans scattered across the floor. One, a naked young woman, lay in a ... <comics code authority> position, another, a muscled man, was lying dazed slumped up against the outer door. A large woman clad in loose fitting costume cried "My powers!" in accented English, and looked to the others. One of them, a weedy, thin, sickly looking man looked up. "I still have mine..." he grinned.
On the top of the jet at that moment Lionheart dangled on with one hand. There was catastrophic damage to the jet - it had been rendered unflyable, and debris flew past the Vanguardian as he gritted his teeth, concentrating on the ... door... He felt something like a handle along the wall of the jet and pushed one way, then another.
BAMFFFFFFFF!!!!!!
Explosive decompression from what was left of the cockpit exploded in everyone's' ears as the side door fell open, tearing clear of the jet and causing the muscled man to bleat for a split second before being sucked out of the jet.
Stormwarden blinked again. He was dazed by the impact, but not massively hurt bar cuts and bruises (OOC I allocated a head on combined impact at 40Htk and 40Htc. Reduced by dividers to 10Htk and 13 Htc. Small change for Stormwarden considering it would have near on killed Lionheart and definitely splattered a normal human.)
By now the innards of the jet were swirling about from the winds, and the jet itself plummeting towards the floor in a screaming death spiral. The Nazis in the cockpit screamed aside from the weedy looking man who grasped onto a chair bolted to the floor. The other metahumans had lost their powers, but not him.
Not Power Parasite...
He'd seen Lockup fly out the door, and Mistress Might, Vine and Shadow Vulture had been rendered powerless! He didn't know how, but wondered if it might be ... ahhh yes. He narrowed his focus of vision. The hammer. Something about it... Those tendrils of energy snaking to each of his team mates... and stopping short of touching him! He cackled, raised a hand at Stormwarden and hissed! Normally he would have to touch his opponent, but this one? It was like being near Adjutant! Their power was such that a mere human form couldn't hope to contain all the emanations, those stray tendrils that wafted outwards. All it took was a reach out and... snag one!
Stormwarden, Guy Saint Ives, screamed.
There was glass cutting into his skin, the air pressure felt like it was pressing so hard it would tear him in half, and he held onto a hammer which was about 20lbs too heavy for comfortable use! The pain caused him to gape , eyes bulging, and he looked up at the Nazi across the jets' cabin.
He had grown to Stormwardens' size! His uniform in tatters, the Nazi flexed a powerful hand! "Such strength! Such power!" he cried! He levelled his eyes at Guy, and snarled "But you have more. I want it! This is but a fraction of your might! I want it all!!!!!" He stood, and braced himself to come across the cockpit and place his hand on Guys' head. Guy somehow knew, if that was to happen, it would be all over...
On the top of the Jet Lionheart saw the Nazi tumble away, one minute clad in trunks, the next heavier muscled, his skin like iron and wrapped in thick chains similar to those used to tether ships! His powers had reverted back to their normal status away from the ship. He wasn't sure what was happening inside the jet, but a look over the side - which tumbled so he gasped and hung onto the roof to stop himself falling - confirmed the jet was on a collision course... with the ground!
Stormwarden chattered through clattering teeth. This was it. The end. He wasn't sure what the Nazi had done to him, it didn't matter. He was 'normal' now, and that meant a crash from this height would kill him. The Nazi had some power leeching effect? He'd never come across it's like before, and suddenly he'd been reminded of what a normal person felt like compared to his 'normal self'.
And it wasn't a good feeling.
The Jet howled and spun its way towards the floor.

The Vanguard - Putty and Frostbite
Putty knew these things couldn't hurt him. This was childs play! They were doing no more than... than...
A cold feeling started in the put of the pliable mans' stomach, and spread out through his entire body! If he had teeth, they'd be chattering, and his hair would have a shock of white through it!
OOC 1d6=5, 1d6=6. Ouch. Putty loses 5 Ego and 6 Vigour, with corresponding drop in HTC/HTK. However, whilst he's now on 10 Ego, his Vigour (also 10) has a max of 60 Htc/Htk so his totals remain unchanged. He has been Will Sapped... Puttys Ego=10 Vigour=10
Fighting back irrational fear,Putty slings two huge fists at the nearest foe. Made of sterner stuff than even the heroes of legend in this land of myth, he was nonetheless momentarily scared stiff that his life force could be drained like that! Feeling less confident, and knowing now that these creatures were something more to be considered, he tries to take one out...
OOC 1d20+2+2+8=13 Miss, 2d6+18=24, 1d20+2+2+8=24 Hit, 2d6+18=26 Htc reduced to 13 after dividers on Will Sapper no. 3.
His first punch sails wide of the mark, the second lands full on, a jarring force meant to remind the Will Sappers that they may remain one of the most powerful beings in this realm, especially in numbers and with room to move, they face a determined and powerful enemy. Albeit one that feels rather second hand at the moment...

Lionheart
Lionheart couldn't see Stormwarden moving, but the jet seemed to be going down. Over the noise he could hardly hear anything either, but he knew he had to get Stormwarden out before this thing crashed. Moving to grab the hull once again, letting his finger tear into the plates to create a handhold, he inched scrabbled, kicked and punched footholds to move toward the door and into the craft.
OOC:
Ok trying to get in, to get a better look at what has happened. And then I am going to mindblast the Power Parasite for all he's worth, when I get a look at what has happened.
If I can take him out I will try and pull Stormwarden in and bring the craft up from the crash or if its too late try and jump with Stormwarden free.

OOC updating today Dave - would've done yesterday but it was a quiet day on here and the wife's birthday, so not a lot of chance to post. Normal service today (i.e. at least once a day)

Re: The Vanguard! Issue #4 - Knifes Edge...
The Vanguard - Lionheart and Stormwarden
The jet continued to plummet in its death spiral, fragments flying off every second, and a horrendous shrieking sound of tortured metal that suggested the wings wouldn't last much longer at this rate. With every painful grasp, fingers tearing through the aluminium skin, Lionheart crawled across the roof of the Jet, clung on for dear life and ignoring as best he could the dizzying spiral and the earth below, getting bigger.
He was running out of time!
Reaching the doorway, he saw several Nazis sprawled about, papers and electronic parts mingling with glass and shards of plastic as they flew around the cabin area. One Nazi in particular reminded him of Stormwarden - near identical size and shape, and laughing, maniacally. And... was that...? Stormwarden? The colouring and the costume were the same, but he looked to have lost around 200lbs in weight and a foot and a half in height! Though still a big man, in comparison to his normal self he was a dwarf!
The Jet spun violently, and the big Nazi crashed against a console, flattening it. He had been trying to pace across the cabin to grasp Stormwarden, who still hung onto the inside of the cockpit for dear life, the wind and speed of the descent threatening to tear him out, and his legs were dangling wildly in the air one minute, slammed against the nose of the craft the next!
The same spin threw Lionheart off the jet, shards of metal in his hands, and his heart leapt. This was it. The end. There was no... oooooffff! He crashed onto the floor of the Jets cabin, Nazis looking at him from where they clung to whatever they could to stop them falling out. The large hammer Stormwarden had used was embedded in the console of the cockpit, head jutting from the dials, and Stormwarden clung to the handle on the other side with one hand, glass strewn dashboard with the other. The Nazi turned "I'll get to you!" he cackled. "Such power! A feast!" he cried.
Lionhearts' eyes crackled, the Lion on his chest glowed, and matched that of the lion on his belt. Around him an energy aura formed into the shape of a Lion, then leapt at the Nazi!
OOC 1d20+9=11 Power Parasite, 1d20+18=29 Lionheart, 5d6=17 Htc. 5 PSI points expended (9 in total of 22, this is round 2 of 5) Power Parasite takes 17Htc no dividers vs Mental attack.
Crying out in agony, the Nazi turned, flexing huge fists. Suddenly the jet bucked again, and everyone... Stormwarden included, slid into the Jets seating area and towards the back wall. The huge Nazi crashed against his fellows, Lionheart came to rest up against a door. Stormwarden, still held onto the hammer, saw the weapon tear up the cockpit and with it any chance of steering the plane.
This thing was going down!
Inside his head, in contrast to the maelstrom around, Stormwarden heard 'Let the enemy touch you. Let him try to take your dark power' A pause then 'Our power holds off the effects of the time stream - such a thing cannot be taken lightly, for time is inexorable and unstoppable. And yet you and your friends have stopped it acting on you. Imagine if you will, what some mere mortal might discover were he to touch your form and drain something of the power required to hold off time. Let... him... touch.. you...'
Stormwarden , battered, bleeding and bruised, and without powers, glanced up at the Nazi. The big man was already clawing his way up the Jet to grasp Stormwardens' head! If the inner power was wrong, and the Nazi drained his power, he would succumb to the time stream, and become... someone else, all memory of who he was and what he fought for lost forever!!!
Lionheart glanced over. A naked young woman, bleeding from a cut on her head, chattered "S..s..s..ave us! We're g..g..going to crash! I d...don't want to d..d..ie!"
The Jet continued to scream towards the earth.
OOC Stormy to act next...
The Vanguard - Putty and Frostbite
Frostbite attacked again with his power over the cold. He wasn't quite sure what he'd seen happen to Putty, but the Pliable Man had shaken it off manfully and delivered more jarring shots! The Captain of Cold levelled his own hand and delivered pain in his own way.
OOC 17Htc on Will Sapper no 3 leaves it staggered.
Archon looks over "Elesieth! The Will Sappers! Don't let them touch you!" Inwardly the golden warrior had know the merest touch of these things could hurt - or kill. Against their new allies they'd seemed ineffectual, and so offence seemed to be the best strategy to take. Now, having seen that their new friends could be harmed, things had taken a deadly turn. He scythed his swords out in a flaming arc, trying to subdue the one who'd attacked Elesieth. Were one to hit her, she might find her soul being drained, and rise at the next full moon as a Will Sapper herself!
OOC 1d20+1+8=16 Miss, 2d6+5=12
The Will Sapper ducks the whirling blades of the Archon, and Elesieth moves out of hand to hand range, (OOC 1 frame) thinking to unsling a bow or cast one of her few remaining spells. Kerla stands next to Elesieth, and the Elf Maiden cries out "Why won't you fight?"
In answer, Kerla places a hand on Elesieths' forehead, and hisses "SLEEP!" in a voice definitely not like her own!
OOC 1d20+20=35 'Kerla', 1d20+11=22 Elesieth
Elesieth swoons, and Kerla raises her hands in the air "My servants! Slay them! Your lord commands it!"
Putty and Frostbite risk a glance round. The Elf maiden is on the floor, and 'Kerla' is shimmering... to become something rather different from what she is supposed to look like!
The Will Sappers attack with renewed vigour!
OOC And still lose intiative. Dunno why Invisible Castle does that - the first roll 9/10 times higher than the second. *shrug* you guys won't complain am sure.1d10=8 Heroes, 1d10=2 Bad Guys 3 Frames to y'all. Elesieth is out, snoring lightly. Kerla is... not Kerla.

Frostbite
OOC: Paul not sure why but when you post up the images of our current condition the image is cropped so the right hand side is chopped off. I think it worked better when one was above the other, rather than side by side. There isn't even an option to scroll to the side, so I can't see the whole thing.
Here is a screen capture to show you what I mean:
IC:
Frostbite felt that the battle had taken a sudden and dramatic shift. Given who they were fighting he could only guess that the imposter might well have been Merlin. But how could that be, since Merlin fought with Arthur.
Frostbite called out to the new arrival. "I didn't realise that there was a spell to turn one as honourable as Merlin into a turncoat. Your Lord, Arthur would be very disappointed in you. And here I am thinking you'd be above such things as serving to bring corrupt men like Modred. How fickle must you be that such a light breeze such as that of the cause of Modred, that it should blow such as you into his schemes!"
Frostbite wasn't sure that he was facing the dread sorcerer but if it was so then life was about to get tough for their purpose, very tough very quickly.
OOC: I can't see what energy I had left therefore I don't know what I've got to hit out at the Willsappers with so I will use the remaining to power a quick attack or two whilst provoking 'Merlin', and if I've a frame left I will delay it to go with my final frame. If that is ok. I'll have to leave dice rolls to you as well I'm afraid.
thanks mate

Re: The Vanguard! Issue #4 - Knifes Edge...
OOC thanks for the heads up on the display. Looks fine on mine, but I use a 32" tv at 1080p for a monitor, so everything looks hunky dory. Doh. Frostbite has one (1) Field manipulation point left (he spent 8 last round, dropping him from 9 to 1) I will layer the graphics on top of the other from now on. It should read:
If you need it bigger, smaller, squished up, would like in a different format, have an idea for a better way to do it, holler. I'm all ears

No that is fine Paul it works good for me.
Ok given that I've just the one point left I will use it to combine with my existing field manipulation over two frames and make it a 4d6 attack - or if not just a normal field manip attack for 2d6 htc.
4d6=9HTC or, 2d6=, 6 HTC Depending on what you'll allow.

PUTTY
ooc: Side by side, the two showed up fine for me. Maybe using better graphics then you are.
"Merlin!? That's Merlin!? What's he doing helping Mordred," Putty yells out as he continues his barrage and hopes he doesn't get touched again. "Maybe that story of him being the Son of the Devil is true and he is letting his bad side out now!"
Putty blares away with his standard patent pending stretching blows.
actions: Three attacks. Hitting Will Sapper three. If he goes down before Putty runs out of attacks then he will switch over to Will Sapper Four, the one Elesieth was fighting.

The Vanguard - Putty and Frostbite
Very little surprised the Vanguardians these days. Though Putty was the newest of their number, he realised his life would never again be the same. When the man known as Merlin appeared in their midst, they guessed who it was immediately, even having time to sling insults his way!
The sorcerer looked stung at the references made by the Vanguardians, but replied nonetheless. "Ah yes..." he said in a faintly Welsh accent. "I have read the tales. Mallory was a buffoon. Arthur was never the noble man of legend. He was a brute, bloodthirsty and without mercy. And the land needed him to be that in order to resist the ...." he grinned then. "Oh, let me not shatter your ideas of chivalry and honour tied about Arthurs' legend! The story tellers wouldn't sell any books if they said how things were!" He held his staff aloft "Anal nathrach, orth' bhais's bethad, do che'l de'nmha" he howled.
The Will Sappers, seeing the man who had originally summoned them appear in their midst, knew they had only one chance for survival - win!
The Vanguardians, however, had other ideas.
OOC I'm fine with combining the last of your Field Manipulation energy in with your normal 2d6 attack. Well, 9 damage, such as it is ... We'll make it... Will Sapper 3
The Will Sapper shrieked, then froze like a statue, turning even bluer! Finally she dropped to the floor, unconscious. Another one down!
Putty sees his friend polish off the one he'd been using as a punchbag, so he turns his attentions to the one next to it.
OOC 1d20+2+2+8=21 Hit, 2d6+18=23 Htc, 1d20+2+2+8=32 Hit - Critical, 2d6+18=25, 1d20+2+2+8=30 Hit, 2d6+18=28Htc. The critical comes up with 6 - extra 1d6 damage. I don't know about you guys, but I was always kind of underwhelmed with critical hits and misses. If you want to switch to a system where you can knock an extra 1 off the damage dividers and add your roll total -18 difference to the damage let me know. Of course, such a system goes both ways... For now we'll roll an extra d6. 1d6=2. Well worth the roll of 20 I'm sure you'll agree... Total damage taken by Will Sapper 4 is 78/2=39 Htc. Ouch. After a crushing flurry of blows Will Sapper 4 is staggered...
Each pile driving blow from Putty slams the Will Sapper further away until it crashes into the wall (OOC it had been standing firm, as they all do) and the wall splinters all about as a third punch crushes head against wall (OOC extra 1d6=6 Htc or 3 damage. Will Sapper 4 has taken 47 Htc and is stunned. 1 point off dropping in fact...)
Merlin goes quiet. "Impressive." he admits.
Archon flies over (OOC 1 fr) to the one attacking Frostbite and scythes with twin fiery blades...
OOC 1d20+1+8=14 Miss, 2d6+5=10, 1d20+1+8=17 Miss, 2d6+5=9
Both blades miss, unfortunately.
The Will Sapper Putty had pounded on staggers about, punch drunk. Whilst it wants to lie down and recover, it knows it can't with its master so close. Even so, it can barely do more than wobble about. The last two able to fight attack desperately their respective Vanguardians!
OOC attack on Putty and Frostbite. 1d20+1+6=22 Hit on Putty, 2d6+10=18 Htk, 1d20+1+6=14 Miss on Frostbite, 2d6+10=15. Special attack is ... 1d100=21 close, but no cigar. (1% per point of damage caused). 4Htk damage. I assume Putty will soak that up (his totals are unchanged because of the drop in Vigour. When it comes to damage and the special attack kicks in, that replaces the normal damage).
"Anal nathrach, orth' bhais's bethad, do che'l de'nmha"
"Anal nathrach, orth' bhais's bethad, do che'l de'nmha"
"Anal nathrach, orth' bhais's bethad, do che'l de'nmha"
Merlins' chanting grows ever louder.. and mist issues from his mouth! The corridor billows with white thick smoke, cloying and dense!
OOC and it's the same as a restraint spell, though it effects everyone - friend and foe - in the corridor. The Will Sappers, beholden to their master, are restrained instantly. Archon with 20 str has a 30% chance of breaking free. Frostbite with 9 Str and Flight, has a 19% chance, Putty has a 50% chance (thanks to stretching and shapeshift he can ooze out of restraints. Even so, it's magical, and sticks like glue...). 1d100=37 Archon, 1d100=9 Frostbite, 1d100=87 Putty. Crazy dice. Frostbite, again, somehow, benefits from his lifetime subscription to Invisible Castle. Archon and Putty are restrained, and unable to act for the next 2 frames (this round and 1 from next) and then can use an action to try and break free.
Frostbite looks about. The corridor, filled with sounds of battle and war, goes silent. The thick cloying fog seems not to cling to him and he knows he can move. He also hears Merlin muttering outside the fog. "Pestilential worms. What know they of old times? Guin'Avir deserved better than that pig, Arthur. Lancel'laird was nay better." shuffling of feet. "Ha! He was a master of the sword, but a half wit compared to me! Arthur was convinced his best knight had betrayed him. Poor Guin. Still... that's all ancient history... Now. Let;s see what we have caught..."
More shuffling. He's close to the edge of the fog. Very close.
OOC Frostbite one frame to act. Putty can still talk, but the mist seems to have turned solid about him. Archon is raging but cannot move. The Will Sappers are motionless too.
OOC no change on Puttys sheet from last one.

Frostbite
LOL
As regards to critical hits, yup I agree the critical hit or miss seem petty. In D&D you get maximum damage and I've introduced something called the wheel of fate, where the player spins a wheel, which can range from hurting a friend, to loosing an action or falling prone. And I've introduced it on the basis that it works both ways as well. So yeah I'm happy to go with whatever you think best.
IC:
Frostbite using the mystic mist to cover him as he launched a punch at Merlin to try and disrupt his concentration.
Frostbite launched a fist out at Merlin to try and disrupt his concentration.
OOC: I know my fist attacks are pathetic, but what else can I do, with a single frame and no energy left
I'm taking a guess as to the numbers Paul but I get 1d20+2+8=19 For 2d6 HTC wow talk about lucky punch 2d6=12 HTC Maximum Damage
Of course I am assuming he is within reach with this second attack. Both of these actions you might need to modify depending on where he is stood and what I can or cannot do. I've assumed since he was acting as the cleric, she was quite close to me in the attack.

The Vanguard - Putty and Frostbite
*smeck*
"Ooof" spat Merlin, and he staggered away, clutching his nose. "Who dares?" he bellows, and raises his staff high. Light, blinding like the sun, suddenly shines, and it's too painful for Frostbite even to look at!
The mist burns away, revealing all in the corridor trying to shield their eyes from the brilliance emanating from Merlins' direction.
The Vanguard are free to move, but blinded whilst the light shines!
"None may defy my magic! Will Sappers! Finish them!" he snarls, and with that...
He's gone!
The magical mist pinning everyone to the spot (bar Frostbite) has gone, and the Will Sappers look up, only feet away from their foes!
Suddenly they explode into life, and attack their enemies!
OOC The ways of sorcerers are strange indeed. Initiative... 1d10=3 Heroes, 1d10=8 Will Sappers. 2 frames to the Will Sappers, then the Vanguards' actions. Each attacks Putty and Frostbite... 1d20+1+6=23 Hit on Putty, 2d6+10=21 Htk, 1d20+1+6=18 Hit on Frostbite, 2d6+10=19 Htk. 1d100=23, 1d100=76. Neither triggers the special attack. Dividers are reduced by 1 from their attack, so Putty would take 7 Htk, and Frostbite 6 Htk. Response? If you take the hits, this will be round 5 of 5 for Frostbite and next round he gets his energy back. Your 4 frames each...
Re: The Vanguard! Issue #4 - Knifes Edge...
OOC forgot to mention. I need to update the house rules (when I can find it - the last reformat a month or so ago may have claimed the word document, but I think I have backups) and will put this one in.
Critical Hits - on the roll of 20 a player/GM can opt instead to apply -1 DD to the victim and add the difference between the roll and the number required to hit to damage inflicted. So you need an 18 to hit, and get a critical with a total hit roll of 30, say. You reduce damage dividers by 1 and inflict an extra 12 damage.
OOC if everyone is ok with that, we'll go with it. I may need reminding until it sinks in, mind... If you prefer to take that option instead of the D10 roll as a default, let me know.

Frostbite
Frostbite did his best to parry the attack hoping to stave the worst of the damage off.
OOC: 2d6 HTK coming up 2d6=8 HTK
Then when its our turn I'm going to pour it on with these guys and finish them off.

PUTTY
ooc: I'm okay with the new crit system. Just remind me that I really really need to think about dodging if I get hit by one!!!
Putty takes the blow and absorbs the damage as best he can, though afraid now of what it might be able to do to him. His Putty Smash goes off, striking out at his foes. He concentrates on one foe at a time until that Will Sapper drops.
"Sure! Just punch the evil overlord in the nose," Putty laughs, "now see what you did? You got him mad at us!"
