Frostbite, Silver Sentinel, Nowhere Boy... stood on a cliff on the coast of Wales...

"We are Beset on all sides."

The youngster clad in black, cloak blowing in the wind, hair tousled, stood on the cliff looking out to the sea. Moments before, he'd waited as Frostbite and Silver Sentinel flew to the cliff top, where they saw the mist shrouding the island drift past and away... leaving no trace of the island!

"Across Britain, three vast vessels from the future invade our home. They carry thousands of robots hell bent on one thing - the annihilation of our way of life. The nazis ... or perhaps Lionhearts' enemies, the men who caused all this... they sought to end the war with one decisive stroke. They didn't know about Anyman. They do now. Their plan backfired. The peril they unleashed on us decided to act of their own accord." he looked about, then tipped his head to the side. "The world cries out. The robots invade all countries."

"Beasts that walk as men hide in our darkest forests, led by a nut case who wants to supplant the human race with creatures of his own devising."

"The nazis have an army of superhumans, future weapons, and alien allies. They are winning this war. A saving grace is that the robot carriers attack their homeland, with their forces spread far and wide. I do not revel in their peoples suffering, but when you unleash a rabid dog, you should be prepared for the chance it may turn and bite you."

"Evils that men was not meant to know about walk in shadows and mists. They dance at the edge of nightmare, threatening to spill into reality. Fear not on that score. The Lore Knights, summoned by the land, will shine a light for others to follow, bringing hope to the deepest darkest despair in the hearts and minds of the people of this land."

"The land called me back, across the universe. The aliens I tried to strike a deal with wouldn't take me seriously." he laughed, though it was without humour. He glanced down at himself. "When I see myself in the mirror, it looks like I am a child playing dress up games. Never mind. Sentinel, I suggest you head to Bletchley, see where they need you. Frostbite? Birmingham is the heart of our manufacturing centres. Engines, planes, vehicles, guns... if we lose that, we'll end up having to fight with sticks and rocks. It's time to give the people some good news, something to ch..."

'Sorry to interrupt you chaps. James, good to have you back. I'll expect a report. The fact that you came back so suddenly and alone suggests that it's too much to hope you brought a fleet of aliens with you. Bomber Command has multiple inbound contacts on radar. A bombing raid from across the channel. The Nazis intend to flatten London. I don't know what you can do against dozens of bombers, but my storms have fizzled out... I... I'm all done in lads. For what seems like months now I've held up my power, as a deterrent and early warning system... This old body is breaking down. I'll try my best but... I need help. Britain... needs help. Now.'
said the voice inside all three Vanguardians heads... It was from General Wynn at Bletchley. The three on the cliff top hadn't heard him sound so exhausted, so desperate, before!

James Caldwell (Nowhere Boy) turned to the other two. "If we want Britain to see another dawn, we need to push ourselves to the limit... and beyond!"

He sighed. "At least the Shadow Demons have stayed quiet whilst all this is going on..." Caldwell muttered.

OOC You have choices - a bomber fleet heading towards London is an immediate concern. Defending Birmingham (where Lionheart and co. battle against the robo carrier) is a priority. Sky Eagle is kind of detached (because of posting rate) so Manchester is where Nowhere Boy will head to help him. Glasgow is where Anyman is on board Trowers Skrall ship.

OOC:
Paul I didn't realise a new thread was up, hence posting two days later, and judging by the lack of response nor does Ross. So I've Emailed him, to let him know.

Joe shuddered, it wasn't fear or cold but just the realisation of getting used to being back in his body. Up until now he felt like a passenger, but seeing what had happened...had shocked him to the core. He felt physically shattered, his body suffering from pain and blows that weren't just physical. It was difficult to snap out of the shock he still found himself saddled with. But worst still was the silence from the other Joe, deep within him was a wall of silence, he'd retreated with all the pain and guilt he felt. Struggling to come to terms with what he'd done.

They'd saved some, but so many dead, if only he'd known the moment he stepped into that other world the balance shifted and everything was doomed. And now they were back with nothing to show for it and England in an even worse state than before. And somehow he had to push himself. Gaining the will power to fight was itself going to take a monumental effort.

But nodding almost mechanically to Nowhere Boy, Joe summoned the shadows power and made ready to get himself to Birmingham the best way he knew how.

OOC:
Ok so we're back to Joe H, who is confused and struggling to come to terms with being back in his own body.

As regards getting to Birmingham I'll need the points to either fly or teleport whatever is most efficient in terms of points spent. Sentinel could get back to Bletchley, but of everyone a metal morph seems like the best tool we have against the robots. I think Ross should question his going to Bletchley and instead face off against the incoming bombers, if not the metal robots. But that is Ross' call.

OOC Knew there was something I meant to do, didn't, so am sorry. Thx for letting Ross know. *hits head against wall*. Oops.

Nowhere Boy spoke up "Faster way to get about. The remaining V-Ship will act as taxi service. Just let General Wynn know, he'll pass the word down and get you to where you need to be. I can get around faster than that, thanks to the land imperilled. Know this - if they bomb London morale will be in the bin. Taking out the seat of power, the Palace, national monuments... If there's a time to use the Dark Power, do it, but don't go nova on me..."

"Unless there's anything else you need of me, I'll head to Manchester, for now. I'll see you back at Bletchley, hopefully with the Robot vessels downed." he nodded to both, then pulled his cloak in at the sides. "You've been bonging in my head for ages. Let's get on with it." he said to no one in particular, pulling on the mask and slipping the hood over his head.

OOC Unless they want anything of Nowhere Boy, he's on his way to help Sky Eagle...

OOC:
No I am a bit to wrapped up in myself and my grief to do anything but barely acknowledge Nowhere Boy at present!

Frostbite called for the V-Ship in something akin to a mumble, anyone looking on could tell that there was a black mood of shock and horror etched on the young heroes face. He wanted to say something to Wynn, to encourage him to reach out in his hour of need. But rather like his part time companion, Frostbot, Frostbite felt soulless, distant and cold.

OOC:
Ok call for V ship and hike it up to Birmingham, sounds as if from what Nowhere Boy said, that Sentinel will be needed heading off this bombing run, as Nowhere Boy said, if it gets to London...

Sentinel too sensed the desperation in the generals voice so he decided to wait until he had a minute a lone.
"Gereral...sir can you hear me?"

(assume response)

"Gereral I would never normally question your orders, is there something you arent telling us? You must have your reasons for wanting me back at HQ and whatever the reason it must be greater than the oncoming threat of the robot army on their way to the factories in Birmingham for I feel that with my metal morphing powers you graciously bestowed to me could help massively" sentinel asked in a respectful gental tone with a hint of concern.

OOC: What state are we now in from our last encounter? Have sentinels teeth returned?

OOC both characters are recovering - 20htk and 30htc apiece. Time passes differently in the various realms, so your bodies may have had days to recover whilst in the 'real world' an hour or so has passed.

'V-Ship is on its way at best speed. Saladin is on board, but don't worry about him. It'll be a while before he's grown enough to walk, which is a blessing. One less thing to worry about. We need to stop the bombing run against London. There's something else. I believe that Bletchley will be a logical target for the robots when they use those mechanical minds of theirs and get round to analysing why this place is holding out. Nowhere Boy told me he struck a blank with the Aliens. The good thing is they will tread carefully around us too, so at least we haven't got another enemy to add to the list. You've got a point though Sentinel. I hadn't considered your metal morphing powers. There's so much going on... so tired... You're right. I will try and stop those bombers. We have several Justiciars, but their training is still ongoing. I don't want any more...' there was a pause. 'I don't want to send any more kids out to be butchered, but I suppose we don't have a choice. We're under siege, and the enemy isn't just relentless, it's coming from different directions. No one said this would be easy though. Just glad you're good to get back into the fight. Did you... accomplish the mission? Did you bring allies?'

Frostbite bowed his head, but rested a hand on the horn of Dragons. Would its magic work in this world? Could it open a gateway to wherever the Dragons were? Did the Dragons still live? Was it all for nothing?

The pair sat to wait.

=========

They didn't have to wait too long, and truth told, both needed the breather...

Cool night air with the tang of sea salt washed over them, cooling red bot bruising and tender spots where the hammering had been more insistent and constant.

The roar of distant engines, a whine of pulse drives belonging to a V-Ship, rang out across the valleys, and the pair looked up to see the glint of the moons light. Dawn would break soon, and with it the promise of another day of blood, fury and death.

The V-Ship circled, lowered, and landed, the bay doors opening and Spartan standing on the ramp to greet the pair. "Hurry up! The others have already engaged the enemy!"

OOC Any plans pre fight? I plan to plunge you into the midst of the battle, but will run you two separate from the Lionheart/Bulletman team (that thread is crowded enough)

Frostbite nodded mechanically at Spartan, mumbling the order to get under way, he needed to be dropped at Birmingham and then the V ship should stay with Sentinel, in case he needed additional support as he took on the Bombers fast approaching London.

OOC:
No nothing special, lets get to it. Battle, such as it is, is probably just what Frostbite needs to help clear his head anyway.

Spartan nodded, seeing Frostbites expression. "I know you've only been gone hours, but you've both been missed. the Nazis haven't been idle." He filled them in en route to the Bridge with details of the huge machines that soared through the air, batting away the cream of the RAF as if they were gnats! Only the fact that the vessels, so vast and powerful, were intended to conquer countries and destroy armies seemed to be in their favour. When the Vanguard were individuals with the power of armies, it was something no computer mind or robot horde could prepare for.

News of the rest of the world was less encouraging. The leviathans had appeared near major cities, both friend and foe. New York was in a panic. Previously so far from the war, this drove home their need to mobilise, and the word was that the city was under siege by "Mechanical monstrosities the likes of which no science fiction author would dare dream up!". The radio broadcasts had been ignored as hoaxes at first, until word of mouth began to spread, and hastily scrambled fighters took to the air!

Spartan leaned back in the chair as the scenery sped by underneath the V-Ship. "Like it or not, this nation - the United Kingdom - is now the best suited to save the world. The US have two superhumans, the Nazis have an army of dozens, but their plans of conquest left them vulnerable. Our best projections show Berlin has already fallen, as it was in a state before this calamity occurred. It's hard to feel any sympathy for them though."

A Peeler called out "At best speed we're 15 minutes away."

Spartan explained "We're keeping our speed below mach 1 to preserve fuel. Our shields and weapons suck so much of the stuff up, plus the surgical equipment being used on Boadicea on the medical deck requires a significant portion of the ships resources."

"Bomber command on the line sir" offered a Peeler. "They state the Nazi bombing raid has flown unopposed over southern England and is closing in on London, but that the Justiciars have been scrambled to intercept."

Spartan pulled a face. "Raw recruits empowered by General Wynn. As much a danger to each other as the enemy." He considered for a moment. "Up the speed. Mach 2."

=========

The ship slowed, and the sheer size of the vessel in the distance dominated the view screen...

It was a giant, even at this range. Bigger by far than any man made vessel in the history of mankind, and one of three over the British Isles. Spartan turned to Frostbite. "Good luck sir. We'll be back to lend a hand once the bombers have been stopped." Spartan turned to Silver Sentinel. "Hope you have something in your bag of tricks good enough to stop a bombing raid!"

=========

Frostbite flew from the cargo bay, heading for the distant enemy vessel.

He was a mile or so away, well out of range of the constantly firing guns. He saw the bright flash of something drop from the sky, pause, then flash into the deck of the vessel. Before his eyes the thing shuddered, flashed blue, stopped, started to drift towards the ground, then shimmered blue and the guns opened up again at the V-Ship darting in to attack. The vessel was definitely kinked in the middle now though, and flames spat from several rents in the huge landing deck atop the thing. It looked like the worlds biggest aircraft carrier, save it'd been stretched in all directions and was flying!

As he flew closer it became clear that a small group of individuals had attacked the thing and were in turn now being attacked as dozens of metallic spheres erupted from the deck to fly at them!

Frostbite was only half a minute away from engaging, but would have to fly the gauntlet of flak that kept the Spitfires out of range. It was so fierce and unrelenting, there could be no human hand at the trigger!

=========

Sentinel watched Frostbite go then settled into a chair on the bridge.

Spartan barked the order "Increase altitude and speed. Whatever it will give us. We'll deal with the power shortage later - if there IS a later..."

The ship soared high above the clouds and blasted through the sky! In minutes a Peeler reported a long range contact on the radar. "Three dozen planes, bombers, with two dozen fighters as escort. How do you want to do this sir?"

He looked at Spartan, who turned to Sentinel. "This is your show. We'll be on them in minutes. The ship can attack to a limited extent. What can you do?"

Shaken by the shear size of the craft, Frostbite was momentarily shaken. Its vast size was no doubt matched by firepower capabilities that would be hard to deal with. Calling on the dark power would get him there quickly. And clearly speed was of the essence.

OOC:
Ok call on the dark power to get me to teleport to the ship, where the others are. But will need more than just teleport powers, will need to increase my body density - so tough skin grade 2 and several magnitudes of strength when we get there - I'll hold off allocating points until I've teleported in and found out what the situation is. I'll arrive where I can see the others fighting.

"A plan? Yes that would be rather handy right now. Spartan do are sensors pick up any defensive capabilities on the bombers, my guess is they dont have much air to air weaponry hench the fighters.....hears hoping that frostbite brings us back a souenir from his trip, we could do with the extra fire power agaisnt the bombers".

"Right patch me in to the remaining spitfires"

"All yours sentinel"

"Okay chaps I want you to break off from the main ship, we have our best man taking that job on, you boys did a bloody good job but now we have another threat those bombers fast approaching. Take those things head on and we'll take out those fighters"

"This is squadron leader, identifie your self, over"

"We are the vanguards and Im the guy thats buying the beers, sentinel out"

OOC: Okay the plan is take out those fighters but lets see how the spitfires do first before committing the ship.

Frostbite
30/60htc
20/48htk
8 Hero points
Dark power XP 4/5
15 energy

After calling Dark power, XP is 5/5, Dark power level is 2 (and XP changes to 0/10)
Dark Power Growth 1

OOC I assume Frostbite will ask for 10 Dark power points and use hero points. This calling of the Dark power is successful (Frostys roll 18 vs 8 for the Dark power) and increases Dark power XP to 5, therefore bringing him to Level 2 dark power when next he uses it... Dark power growth is 1 point. Suggest you use some to heal yourself as well... Dark power roll 8,3,9,2,7,7,10,4,9,2=61 points. Spend 20 on Teleportation, then another 30 for grade 3, giving a range of 3000m per jump which would cost 15htc. That leaves 11 Dark power points.

With a thought Frostbite summons the Dark power from within and looks at the distant Robo Carrier. An instant later he hovers in the air above it, near his friends and hovering above the damaged - but still functional - Robo Carrier!

OOC Calling on the Dark power again... Growth is +1, going for 9 points this time... 15 rolled (+12ego) for Frostbite, 6 rolled for the Dark power. 9 dice x2 Dark power brings: 10,1,10,8,10,1,4,2,6=52 plus 4 points from extra D10, 56x2=112 Dark power points. Grade 2 Tough Skin costs 15, 2 Grades of strength costs 30 points. You have 78 Dark Power points remaining. Dark power growth is 2, Dark power experience is 1/10. If you're ok with those powers/points switch to the other thread with Lionheart/Bulletman and co to act against the Robo Carrier.

Silver Sentinel
30/110htc
20/88htk
1 Hero Point
Dark Power XP 1/5
15 Energy

"You have no idea how tricky it was to set up the radio relay station to make a simple call from this ship that the spitfires would receive" said Spartan, smiling. "Thank them." he added, gesturing to the Skrall technicians that scurried about. The diminutive lizard/cyborgs ran the ship efficiently and without complaint. "Scan shows... all Spitfires are breaking off. The call has gone out - the Vanguard will defend the realm."

Spartan leaned over to another console. "Perhaps just as well. According to this the southernmost radar stations have picked up another bunch of bombers heading across the sea. I will send word that the Spitfires be recalled and refuelled to head them off. For our part..." he turned to a Peeler. "ETA 1 minute. Long range scanners have them."

Another Peeler called out "Returning Spitfires en route to defend London indicate their ETA... 20 minutes."

Spartan turned "They can't be everywhere at once. This is our show. Your orders?" he asked of Sentinel.

At least they spared a few lives sentinel thought even if it was just those brave men in the spitfires.
He couldnt help thinking of all those frostbite and himself couldnt save, the despair.

"Ah" said the voice from within, a voice he hadnt heard from for quiet some time.
"That last series of thoughts were like a breath of fresh air, the little boost I needed. Remember Im always here, always watching. Cant you feel us growing, reaching out? Cant you sence your beloved metal, metal that you so desperately cling to, that binds you and makes you stronger?
(OOC: Cue metal morph up grade and slight healing if possible with my dark power point)

The dark prince was right, before sentinel could almost smell most metal close to him but now, now he could pin point it so accurately it was frightening. The curious young man closed his eyes and shut the surrounding noises off, he felt...no he could see all the cold metal of the ship in all directions like a sonareven with his eyes closed.

"Those bombers are coming in fast, sentinel its your show."

"Lower the back ramp spartan"

"Your not thinking about.."

"Just do it we should be above them about now. I'll take out the fighters just do what you can agaisnt those bombers, I'll be back shortly. Gods speed" as sentinel formed his helmet over his serious looking face he let himself fall backwards off the loading ramp and fired his thrusters shortly after. (OOC: Iron man eat your heart out)

Through the layers of wispy clouds sentinel could make out the mass of aircraft in a solid formation like well organized bees. 'This is gonna be one hell of a dog fight'. As perusal he didnt really have much of a plan apart from mass destruction, his plans normally formed them selfs once he could closer to battle and it worked so far anyway. 'If I could only pull the fighters away from the bombers it would make life easier for the others'.

OOC: Okay sentinel is going to 'try' and get as close to the fighters as possible, for a bigger catchment area, to melt their engines but I bet they spot him before he gets there as hes not stealthy and they probably have some kind of radar, maybe they would expect an attack from above or maybe sentinel is too small to be picked up by radar.

World War II - The Vanguard Issue #8 Edge of Oblivion... Empty Re: World War II - The Vanguard Issue #8 Edge of Oblivion...

Post  Admin Sun Mar 25 2012, 14:15

(Translated from German)

"Closing on Target. Altitude - safe from Flak fire. Speed - as was promised, faster than their fastest fighters! I do not know what the fuss was about with regards this 'Vanguard' - they have not shown up. " said the Captain to his co-pilot. The man in question laughed, checking readings. They were in the lead bomber of two dozen heading towards London. Their fighter escort buzzed about them like angry bees, but they'd flown far and fast from France with the new upgraded engines and had left Spitfires spluttering in their wake!

The biggest worry had been Anyman and his friends, the so called 'Vanguard'. The man was a menace, a murderer, the bane of Nazi Germany, and yet... and yet Heinz Fritznell, pilot of this bomber, couldn't help but be impressed. He was a patriot, and whilst Fritznell would do his own duty, he couldn't blame Anyman for doing his. The man was doubtless a hero to the British people, as were his colleagues. Lucky then, that they had not shown up. Despite reports stating that he could not fly, Fritznell was not fooled. They'd been briefed by the Lightning Storm, elite superhuman troops charged with one task - to kill Anyman and his friends. They stated that Anyman had defeated all comers and caused the calamity in Berlin, and that until he was dead there could never be total victory over the British!

"Keep your eyes open." Fritznell said to the co-pilot.

=========

Sentinel summoned the Dark power...

OOC I assume a safe level, around 6 points. Roll 13 for SS, 4 for Dark Power, no problems. 6D10=10,6,6,1,9,4 (36 points) which I presume goes towards healing him, say 50/50 split.

Silver Sentinel
48/110htc
38/88htk
1 Hero Point
Dark Power XP 2/5
Dark Power growth 1
15 Energy

As the V-Ship came about, Spartan gave the nod and the suit crawled across Sentinels skin, responding better than ever! It was that magical metal he wore, no tougher than steel but amazingly resistant to spells and magical attacks. When the cargo bay opened, Sentinel looked down - the ground was too far below to make out details, and the clouds mostly obscured the view. He shivered but in truth it would have to get a lot colder to cause him harm.

Spartan called out on the comms "We have them on scope. Good hunting. We'll keep the fighters busy."

Sentinel formed the last piece of the armour across his face and leapt from the ship...

=========

"ACHTUNG!" shouted Fritznell as he saw the glint of metal in the distance.

That looked like one of the ships the aliens had provided, and there was something flying from it - a missile?

"Fighters! Take out that missile!" he shouted over the comms.

The messerschmitts roared off in front of the bombers...

Fritznell watched as they closed the distance and opened fire. He frowned as the gleaming thing kept coming, then gasped in dismay as half a dozen fighters had their engines tore free from mountings and collapsed in the air, tumbling towards the ground far below!

"Mein gott!" he muttered.

The missile kept coming! "Take evasive action! Alert the Lightning Storm!" he shouted over the radio.

The missile got closer now, and he saw it was a man, not a missile! So how then... "THE VANGUARD! IT IS THEM!"

The metal subframe of one wing dissolved, sending the bomber into a spin downwards! Fritznell looked up to see another bomber open its doors and white clad Nazi superhumans - the Lightning Storm - spew out, flying through the air towards the Vanguardian!

That was the least of his worries though! He was about to die!

=========

Sentinel felt his power grab hungrily at metal as he flew at the fighters, and stopped every bullet!

More than that - he yanked engines from planes and flew past, unconcerned about the fighters! His power was working better than ever (OOC I updated the character sheet, will post it later) Getting closer to the bombers he saw them peel off from formation, spreading out. He caught one of their wings with his power and saw the bomber spiralling towards the ground miles below before reaching out again.

Then he saw the doors open on a bomber and four white clad figures flew out, coming at him!

OOC They are 200m away, four of them (3 men 1 woman) flying towards you. Another problem is that the bombers will be past you in seconds and leave you far, far behind, but there is a solution... you have grade 3 metal morphing. Next post, a pic of the 4 and combat...

OOC: Just a thought but if sentinel can attract sensable sized metal objects to himself doesnt that mean Ur could work the other way around and he can grapple himself like magnetism to lets say.....um a bomber flying past?

OOC exactly right - wondered if you'd pick that up. He can 'snag' something up to 100m (the edge of his range) away and get towed along.

World War II - The Vanguard Issue #8 Edge of Oblivion... Sentinels_Nazi_opponents

OOC We'll number them 1 to 4 with 1 being on the left of the picture...

Number 1

The Nazi sped like an arrow through the sky towards Silver Sentinel. He barked orders and flexed muscles, eager to test his might against the much vaunted Vanguard! He muttered in his native German tongue "Do not go down too quickly Englander..." then turned to shout to the others "FAN OUT! Spread out around him!"

Number 2

Passing the white clad man like he was stood still, the glowing yellow man zipped through the sky trailing bright yellow energy in a zig zag! he didn't seem able to stay still for any moment, constantly moving, zig zagging about and he passed Sentinel in a heatbeat, then started to zig zag about him at speed!

Number 3

The third of the group seemed to hold his breath and then blow - instantly growing to nigh on twenty feet high! His head resembled that of some horrendous giant frog! He was clumsy in the air, flying by means of a jet pack which sputtered and stalled with the added weight! Nonetheless he wobbled his way towards Silver Sentinel...

Number 4

The red woman kept pace with the white clad man then fanned out as ordered. Without a mouth, she had no visible means of breathing or speech, but seemed able to hear just fine. She circled as ordered and started to come about in a pincer move with the Frog thing coming the straight ahead, the white clad man to the opposite side of the red woman and the glowing energy guys zig zagging about Sentinels head!

Meanwhile the bombers continued along their path, flashing past Sentinel as he contemplated his next move!

OOC Initiative Sentinel 7 Nazis 2, 3 frames to Silver Sentinel. If he wants to 'hook' onto a bomber as it passes, that will take 2 frames. He might be able to swing at the zig zagging energy guy when he comes in range - the fellow is coming real close!

OOC: Precisely sentinels plan, he doesnt normally run from a fight but there will be time for that later for now those bombers are top priority, there are innocents in potential danger. Snag the bomber and if the fire fly gets too close swat him as targeting him might be a bit tricky, unless toad boy gets in close then sentinel wants to take a shot at his jet pack with his powers

OOC I missed your reply - no notification via email or showing up on here as red highlighted, so apologies for that :S

Sentinel watched the nazis fly through the air towards him, intent on circling him and taking him out! Instead he glanced at a passing bomber, concentrated, and felt the metal that made up the plane - engine, frame, extra equipment, even the pistols, ammunition, buttons and belt buckles. Latching onto the frame he grinned behind his helmet and was immediately whisked away behind the bomber!

Using his power he was able to effectively hop/attach from one bomber to another, so long as they were within 100m! Three of the Nazis were left trailing in the wake of the bombers! The fourth - the zig zagging man who glowed, called out in German to Sentinel. He couldn't understand the fellow but it was clear he wasn't there to chat to Silver Sentinel!

Sentinel took a swing at the fellow...

OOC WC2+DC6+Roll 12=22-17=5 accuracy. +5htc +15 strength=25 Htc damage. Reduced by dividers.

He clobbered the fellow as he flew by, and PINGED off him, only being held by his invisible tether by the slimmest thread! He was flung about whilst desperately trying to hang on! of the nazi there was no sign... for a moment. Then his glowing form streaked upwards from the mile below it had been deflected to and shot straight at Sentinel like an arrow!

OOC WC2+DC6+Roll 9=17 miss.

He shot past Sentinel and Steve looked up, seeing the glowing form streak upwards through the clouds towards space! Man, he was FAST!

The glowing form arced, slowing, then sped up! If he collided with Sentinel he would be PINGED through the sky at high velocity!

OOC WC2+DC6+Roll 24 (Doubled!)=32-17=15 x3 damage dividers reduced by -2 so Sentinel takes 45htc. Any response (parry or dodge - dodge would be pretty useless unless you get a great roll. Lionheart would have a good chance of dodging, Sentinel, less so...)? Depending on Sentinels response he is also bounced through the air (torn free of his tether unless he wants to rip the engine out of the plane he's tied to). Just let me know response and I'll add another post explaining what happens to Sentinel as he's bounced through the sky by this crazy, powerful, energy ping pong ball...

OOC: because this guy isnt hard to spot and sentinel saw him coming from a mile off what do u think is best rip the engine out and sheild himself (hopefully slow the evil human torch down) or rip off a wing from the bomber and batter up? Ether way I better try something because that was a mighty hit

OOC I guess from that, you're going for a parry - probably your best bet. Sentinel uses 2 frames (his remaining action in this round) to grab the engine from the plane he's pulled along by and drag it in front of the oncoming bad guy. Roll of 16 means he parried and blocks all of the damage he would otherwise have suffered, but the engine is completely destroyed!

Desperately Sentinel yanked the engine from its moorings and thrust it in front of him! The bomber he'd been attached to instantly started a spiral towards the earth, fire and smoking trailing behind as fuel lines ruptured and ignited! The glowing energy being PINGED! from it, causing the engine to explode and shower Sentinel in fragments that clattered against his armour but otherwise did no harm! The nazi spat off the engine in a random direction before gathering himself and zig zagging back to where Sentinel was (OOC next round). Without a plane to tow him along he found himself quickly left behind, floating in the air with the distant Nazis closing!

OOC initiative... 8 Sentinel, 10 Bad Guys. They move (1 frame) meaning Sentinel gets to act with all four frames. The planes are out of his range and almost over the centre of London now! Whatever payload they are about to drop, it will be soon!

OOC: Dam, that will teach to be selfish and save my own skin. What about the spitfires? Now the bombers escorts/fighters have been destroyed it would make life easier for them. How fast is our ship (what is it called by the way? Vanguard 1?) and how much fire power do they have? If they dont have enough to slow down the bombers or destroy them is the ship fast enough to fly past sentinel so he could use his powers to sling shot to the remaining bombers then hold of that pesky fire fly.

IC: "Need a lift" spartan crackled in his ear, "catch a ride"

Sentinel looked up to see vanguard 1 burst through the clouds steeply, heading in the direction of the remaining super bombers.

"Dont mind if I do" sentinel answered using his metal effecting abilities to 'hook' himself to the nearby craft like a magnet. Sentinel gave a wave to the flaming streak homing on him fast as he was whipped away high above the ground

The Spitfires were still too slow and too low to catch these enhanced Nazi air-planes. They didn't give up though - they continued to give chase, despairing as the enemy receded.

Meanwhile Sentinel and Spartan arranged for a fly past... and Sentinel snagged the V-Ship as it soared past! The rail guns mounted on the outside opened fire, filling the air with a sound not unlike thunder! "Let's see what we can do to help!" shouted Sentinel over the din as he glanced behind and saw the three Nazi superhumans recede once more. Only the ultra fast human energy pinball had a chance of keeping up!

The V-Ship rapidly caught up with the last of the bombers and started filling the air with round after round of magnetically propelled rounds, which weren't at their best in atmosphere, quickly falling away and missing their target. Until, that is, Sentinel applied his power and 'flung' them. Many still sprayed wide, but those that found their mark punched clean through their target, smashing the bombers into smithereens!

The V-Ship sped up, and Sentinel clung to its roof, glancing left and right, gesturing, and tearing the engines from each and every plane that came within range! The nazi bombers realised the danger and peeled off, splitting up!

Sentinel cursed and shouted over the roar of guns into the comm-link for Spartan to give chase to the largest group! The V-Ship banked and gunned its engines... Sentinel grabbed another ships engine, tearing it free of its frame, then used his power to 'hop' from plane to plane, smashing them with a thought!

Then he saw the glow of the zig zagging Nazi behind him and turned, grabbing onto the V-Ship again and landing on its deck. He had a choice - to continue stopping the bombers and risk being bombarded by the Nazi human pinball, or turn and face his foe, and possibly fail to stop one of the few remaining bombers from dropping its deadly payload on the City of London!

"This is Anyman," he pulses to all the Vanguard. "I have taken over a ship that was heading for Hollywood. I also control its robots. What do you want me to do with it? Also came up with an idea on how to save everyone and put things back in place. Dangerous idea. Tell you later about that."

OOC: I just want to assess the situation a minute. Who's on our v-ship, I know spartan is and how many peelers? Enough the fly the ship?
Also what powers do spartan and anyone else thats on board have.
Whos back at HQ just in case things get bad?
Finally how many bombers are there left, I would obviously like to take them all out but I bet they are scattered out quiet far.
