The New Vanguard! Frostbite Issue #6 - Toto...
FROSTBITE HP 144
Space was cold, vast and harsh.
Even for a superhuman, who could defy the laws of physics on so many levels, there were limits. Get to those limits, and you step beyond, into the unknown. Space could find those limits and push the superhuman body beyond them. Would death claim it, or would fate intervene?
Strange that the mind was so calm with thoughts like this at a time like this....
Encased in a massive ball of ice, his air supply limited to what he could store in his lungs, Frostbite figured that if he passed out, the ice ball might keep him in suspended animation. He was simply too far away to fly to one of those planets. Frostbot had done the math. It didn't add up.
He'd used a shrink ray (easiest way for a man from the 1940s to describe it) to shrink down in size to below subatomic level and wasn't quite sure what he'd find, but certainly to be cast adrift in outer space wasn't it. Perhaps, by some quirk of physics, he'd actually not shrunk at all but teleported into ... wherever this was. Frostbot had no knowledge of the constellations or the type of planets that were in this solar system, and the distant twin suns - one cool enough to look at - were certainly nothing he could have ever imagined.
So this was it. He would die here.
Alone. Failed. His friends... lost? Dead? The world... was Earth at the mercy of microscopic invaders? He couldn't just give up! He...
'Toto we're not in Kansas any more' he recalled the line Judy Garland had spoken. He almost chuckled. He'd gone to see that movie in '39 with Helen, his date for the evening, and his army buddies Roy and Phil, dates in tow. The guys had laughed off the notion of seeing some chicks movie, but it had been a blast, and they had come out quiet, muttering half hearted protestations whilst having been enchanted by a visit to a far off place. A place of magic and wonder, and ...
He passed out.
=========
Death was strangely light, and bright.
Frostbite opened an eye. Frostbot informed him 'Ah, I had begun to wonder if your vital signs would cease entirely. Judging by the increased stress levels in your body the last remains of the oxygen in your lungs will exhaust in moments. You...'
Frostbot paused, and Frostbite moved his eye... both eyes... to the side.
There was a light shining down on him. A light from... a large black metal spacecraft? It was long, tall, reasonably wide, perhaps a 100m by 40m by 40m, and had numerous protrusions and sensors jutting from it, or so he thought. There were also scars along its sides, scrapes, repaired areas, some ruined parts where repairs had not yet been carried out. Indeed, down one side was a huge scrape and a gaping hole. That spacecraft had seen some action!
Suddenly he felt a tug, and knew he was being drawn towards the craft!
=========
The metallic smell was unfamiliar, and the insides were... sort of alien. Tall wide corridors with pipes and cables running along the ceilings.
This docking bay he'd been 'tractored into' reminded him of a submarines innards, with most of the space taken up with crates, boxes, machines, junk...
As he lay in the remains of the melted ice (it was WARM on here!) he heeded Frostbots warning not to breathe in and tried his best to ignore his tortured lungs! He looked up to see a group of... things... 9' or slightly higher tall, built like tanks. There were a dozen of them. The guns they carried would be classed as Bazookas back in WWII.
'Do not engage in physical activity beyond gentle movement' Frostbot warned. 'To do so would expend the last of your air!'
Alone in a strange universe, dragged aboard a starship he couldn't breathe aboard, confronted by a dozen aliens who...
"WKHJGDMBALILKHE<ND<NKWSJHHGYYT£*&EDIUHOIUHEOJQNMBMBA"
He couldn't understand.
No one said being a hero would be easy!

OOC: You're not kidding...
Frostbite didn't know what to do first, he pointed to his mouth, nose and face and to the rapidly changing colour that lack of air was causing him. Truth be told, if he collapsed his lungs would inflate anyway, what choice did they have. So he ignored Frostbot and having tried to explain in a rudimentary way he couldn't be sure he could breathe, he attempted to take a lungful of air in.
OOC: Since I don't know what will happen next it seems pointless to write a load of possible suggestions to counter possible outcomes without knowing if breathing, collapsing and dying might inevitably come about. Be a short adventure though. Perhaps this is why you've sneaked in the possibility of a new 30's pulp adventure

Re: The New Vanguard! Frostbite Issue #6 - Toto...
The aliens stared blankly at Frostbite until one, a smaller creature than the others but still of the same species, walked forward with an object that looked similar to a gas mask.
He carefully adjusted settings on it even as Frostbite started to go blue and gag, and collapsed to the floor, twitching! He was drowning! He was...
COUGH!
The alien frowned, then made more adjustments, turning dials on the face mask which was far too big for Frostbite. Frostbot spoke up 'The alien needs to adjust the third dial down by approximately three turns, based on the oxygen and nitrogen content in your lungs.' Frostbite hesitantly raised a hand to the dial and made rotating motions. The smaller alien watched, then adjusted. A hiss came out...
And Frostbite could breathe.....!
He gasped frantically, filling his lungs and slowing eventually to a natural rhythm, adjusting the mask to fit, albeit it covered most of his head, not just his face! Then he looked up. The aliens were still looking at him, weapons pointed. Looking mean.
There was a language barrier. The smaller alien put on what Frostbite thought was a quizzical look and it spoke again. Frostbot considered 'If the alien were to point to objects and name them, the pair of you could exchange words. Floor, wall, weapon, leg, arm, computer and so on. I shall memorize all of those words and try to break down the language into a form you can understand. Know that I am not a translation computer however. You may end up asking to be shot instead of requesting dinner, for example.'

OOC: As someone who has come to running in later life, I can tell you I was wincing at the description of Frostbite struggling to breath ;-).
Frostbite gave a short sigh before pointing to himself and saying, in a still somewhat breathless tone,
"My name is Frostbite."[/col] and then pointing to himself once again before saying the word again. He then pointed around him,
"Space ship...yes. We would call this 'S P A C E S H I P..."[/col]
Inwardly Frostbite was thankful to whomever was responsible for giving him Frostbot in the first place. He wasn't sure if he was going to live out what passed for a day here, in what was clearly a potentially very hostile environment. But at least with Frostbot working away, however rudimentary a way, there might be a chance that Frostbite might feel he made some headway before being executed or evacuated into space again.
OOC: OK lets assume I carry on as instructed by my trusty computerised companion and see if we can't continue to make sense of what is going on here.

Re: The New Vanguard! Frostbite Issue #6 - Toto...
The 'small' alien (still towering over Frostbite mind) watched as Frostbite formed the words and made a passable attempt at copying it, though it sounded like a tiger gargling a rock.
One of the larger aliens got impatient and gave Frostbite a shove towards a door...
And jolted as he more or less toppled back, caught by surprise as Frostbites strength clearly was far greater than anything the alien had expected!
Instantly the other aliens whipped up their weapons and pointed them in Frostbites face! 11 barrels pointing at him, each bigger than his head! The 'small' alien spoke in it's alien tongue and pointed to Frostbite then made some motions with its hands all the while making its tiger gargling a rock noise. It placed a huge paw on Frostbites shoulder and tried to push him towards a bank of machinery resembling an old Earth computer with lights and dials. The guns shifted to point at him.
Frostbite could cooperate, or decide he'd had enough... but the odds didn't look good! The 'small' alien went to press an assortment of buttons from the machine and then pointed at Frostbite again, and the floor.
"Floor?" asked Frostbite. "SKRAaagle" came a voice from the machine.
The Aliens started and looked at each other, babbling away in the tiger gargling rock way. Frostbot explained 'the machine, their computer of sorts, may be able to translate your two languages. There may be some risk in interfacing with the alien computer system but I may be able to speed up the translation process and 'hard wire' certain phrases into your head. The rest you can pick up as you go. Assuming my neural programming survives the experience.'

Frostbot had an annoying smugness in the way he seemed to speak, but then again maybe it was simply that Frostbite felt every bit dumber when the sentient programme onboard made him realise that he was a soldier, from a small town in America born out of this time and far from this place. He didn't much relish the idea of having anything let alone his neural programming, fried. But Frostbite was cold, and perhaps if he made himself colder still he might mitigate any overheating as such. Maybe he was over thinking this...but it probably wouldn't hurt.
Internally he gave Frostbot the go ahead, hoping that this painful exchange could be sped up. Frostbite was sure whether he was about to cause a major diplomatic incident or about to be welcomed as a long lost brother, or something worse. Before he could hope to get a grip on this situation he needed to get to grips with the language. So learn it, painful as it might be, was all he could do.
OOC: Ok lets go for this and lets make use of HP if and where necessary. I would really rather not fry my brain, so lets go for a good roll or effort and use my frost powers where I can and good dice rolls. Lets hope this soldiers brain is up to this massive language download?

Re: The New Vanguard! Frostbite Issue #6 - Toto...
OOC Essentially it's an attack against Frostys mind. The attack implants knowledge in his head but does damage as well. Trick is to absor the knowledge without blacking out...
Mental attack... Roll(2d10)+0: 2,3,+10 Total:15 vs TN11 + 8 (19). Attack failed
Frostbite placed his hand on the machine, bid Frostbot 'do it' and held on...
He felt a surge of energy... and not much else. The Aliens conferred in their tongue, still incomprehensible. Frostbot explained 'Your mind will naturally resist a forceful attack such as taking place, much as your body would. Unlike your body however, it is not possible to totally lower your defences and in any case it is inadvisable. An overload could see your/our mind fried and render the point of learning the language somewhat moot.' Ah of course, the catch. There was always one. He could learn some of a language... or be brain dead. Great.
Frostbot asked 'Would you like to try again?'
OOC Assume yes. You can decide at any time in the process if you wish to allow the computer system filling your head to inflict a critical blow or devastating attack to increase the amount of knowledge that goes in. You take an equal amount of damage, and a high roll might kill you. Risky business. I will assume you don't go for the extreme measures right now. Trying again...
Roll(2d10)+0: 7,4,+10 Total:21 vs TN11+Int 8 (19). Success, +2 Effect. 12 EV vs RV8= 4RAPs of knowledge and 4 MIND DAMAGE. Do you want to absorb that? He has 8 mind to start with so 4/8 left if not absorbing...
Frostbite jolted this time, then stood back. He heard the jumble of alien voices, mostly angry sounding, and picked out... words! "...of time! This... <unintelligible> ...Rendezvous must be <unintelligible>... Kraxians are <unintelligible>"
It was working! So was the headache though...
OOC How much of this you can take/need to take will be up to you as Frostbite picks up more of the lingo...

Never one to shy away from a challenge, Frostbite did what he could to shake off the fuzzy pain the device gave him as it attempted to crudely implant a language, to save his friends. Once he was sure that he was ready, he indicated to Frostbot to try again and attempted one last go at gaining more than a smattering of the language.
OOC: Ok lets give this another go, and yes let continue to absorb the pain and damage until we've got this. No sense in not doing this as its going to be a major factor in getting anywhere fast in this leg of the adventure.
Once we've gained enough to go on, lets try and say hi and be nice to our rescuers, at least I can try and find out their demands and see what twisted situation you put me in next

Re: The New Vanguard! Frostbite Issue #6 - Toto...
Frostbite HP 134
OOC Mind damage absorbed. I assume you are ready to take a hit for the team and go for a critical blow (against your own mind!) in an attempt to get this done.It may be cheaper in the long run in terms of hero points, but it's also more dangerous.
Here goes, critical blow, 10Aps against Frostys Int 8/Mind 8.
Roll(2d10)+0: 3,9,+0 Total:12 +10 vs TN11+Int8+Modifier 4 (23). Failed
Frostbite braced himself, instructing the Aliens to 'up' the voltage... Nothing like frying your brain to get what you needed!
With a gulp he waited and... stiffened... the jolt didn't hurt but he could tell his mind was resisting, involuntarily! In a way that was reassuring, in another it was making the task harder!
OOC So we try again, same... And keep trying...
Roll(2d10)+0: 8,9,+0 Total:17 +10 vs TN11+Int8+Mod4 (23). +3 Effect (to 13) vs RV8 - Mod6 (2). 11RAPs. Right, I assume Frostbite wants to stay conscious so absorbs 4 points putting him on 1 Mind FROSTBITE MIND 1/8. FROSTBITE HP 124
The upside is that the job is done. You did it in one go rather than the bits and pieces method which is much harder...Nonetheless, Frostbite is STUNNED for one round.
Frostbite staggered, dropping to one knee with what seemed like the mother of all headaches! With a splitting pain behind his eyes he felt sick, and knew he was struggling to stay conscious!
"Is the ... thing... going to live?" he heard growl.
"It is stronger than it looks. The language transfer process is not perfect and killed the last <unintelligible> recipients. Remember the Quarxion prisoner?"
"HAHA! Yes, it's head exploded, and the other one bled from every orifice. Most entertaining. Tell it we want to know what it is and how it survived in space. Tell it not to try anything or we will eat it."
Frostbite looked up. He could understand them. Trouble was, they didn't seem like the nicest of ... people... to get on with.

"Ha, yes I imagine that would be a site to see." Frostbite said as he adjusted to the sounds coming out of his mouth. "But fortunately I am a great deal stronger." And with that he stood up, trying hard to stop himself from swaying, hoping that his survival of the ordeal itself was sufficient proof of his words, even if he felt he'd fall over in a breeze.
"Now then as a offering of goodwill, I am gifted with certain powers that mean the vacuum of space isn't as deadly to me as might be you." He said the last word pointing at the smaller alien. "But it is just as well that you discovered me, as I am in need of information. I am looking for companions of mine, strong, powerful, radiant like the sun and so on. Have you seen any like me possessing abilities, like this? And if so where?"
Frostbite wasn't sure if taking the high ground was going to go down well. If he had to fight for a place in the ships hierarchy to get attention so be it, but he kind of hoped it'd not come to that before having a chance to rest. He attempted to catch his breath, as he practiced his words in a older long winded fashion, by answering their questions and asking his own.

Re: The New Vanguard! Frostbite Issue #6 - Toto...
The aliens seemed bemused at the newcomer casually ignoring their guns!
They glanced at each other, then muttered "You speak our <unintelligible>?"
Another spoke up "More? Like you? Where?"
Ah. Clearly they'd not come across others like him. Frostbot suggested "The method with which you arrived in this universe may have been somewhat... chaotic and random. There is no way to tell just how far away you were transported when compared to your companions. All you can do is perhaps access what passes for a news network, or at least figure out what these people and their ship are in the grand scheme of things. Are they important, or simply drifters who chanced upon your cold preserved form?"
The smaller alien came up. "You owe us a service." It stated. "We save your <unintelligible>, our code says you must do us service then you are free!"
"No! Not the code! You fool! Why have you quoted that?" barked one of the bigger aliens. They seemed to start arguing amongst themselves and the smaller alien came over to lean in. "Now that I have invoked the code, they cannot sell you or use you to fight in the warpits of Tranaath. The code dictates those who owe us a favour have chance to repay it, but if they do not, must readily submit to slavery or be incinerated. You are strong, stranger, but I do not think your skin can withstand multiple shots from our <unintelligible>"

Clearly there was still work to be done, and for the time being it seemed beneficial to Frostbite to play along as best as he could. He had no objection to returning the favour as long as it was within his own moral compass.
"Fine. I'll follow, until such time as my debt is repaid. But don't think of crossing me, your weapons do not bother one who has endured the cold of space." Frostbite wasn't one to brag, but he felt it was in keeping to throw his weight around so that the aliens had cause to give him a wider birthe that they might otherwise be inclined to do.
Firing across to Frostbot, Frostbite advised keeping alert for opportunities to find out more news, news feeds and or access computer terminals. Finding out as much as was conceivable possible, seemed like a good way to use his time for the time being. It was clearly a big 'universe' finding his friends was going to require help beyond that which he possessed. So he needed to play for time, gain valuable intel and find out what his next move should be.

Re: The New Vanguard! Frostbite Issue #6 - Toto...
More or less prodded and pushed through the large ship (about the size of an aircraft carrier, though it was rather cramped for the aliens who had to dodge under pipes and low ceilings) towards what turned out to be the bridge...
A mess of pipes, screens, cables and a large viewscreen decorated the messy bridge. It was rather industrial seeming, dingy and functional rather than aesthetic. Frostbot commented 'The language is one thing, the programming language quite another. It seems that this whole ship is the product of welding and bolting together a number of different ships and systems together. The... 'marriage' of components is not entirely successful. For instance the life support systems of 74% of the ship will fail in less than one earth hour, if I am not mistaken. That could be an opportunity for you...'
Frostbite watched as the screen flickered into life and showed near space. The local planets and moons in the system showed as distant spheres of light. Just then the bridge lit a shade of dark purple and an alarm blared! The screen shifted to show half a dozen incoming dots of light... getting bigger by the second!
The aliens seemed to panic somewhat and started arguing, some took to their stations on the bridge, others just wailed or stood stock still staring at the screen!

Frostbite had a feeling that they'd be calling him in on that favour sooner than later. But still he had to ask, "OK who or what are they?" He said, wondering if this is where he'd end up making good on the offer he'd made to be kept alive.
OOC:So we don't drop into one question and one answer replies, can I also ask, some follow up questions: what dealings have they had with this clear enemy? What weaknesses and strengths might they possess. Is there a chance this is an advanced scouting party and there might be others behind? What defences do we have onboard how good are they against these enemies etc. Basically trying to build a limited picture as to what is going and how to see a way forward. Anything else I should know?

Re: The New Vanguard! Frostbite Issue #6 - Toto...
The small alien turned to Frostbite...
"They are... ah.. the authorities in this system. We may have had... dealings with them before. Some of which were less than favourable."
"CHARGING UP THE MAIN DRIVE!" shouted an Alien across the bridge. "They will intercept before we are jump ready!"
"Ah. <unintelligible>" muttered the small alien. "If they incarcerate us, you will be seized as contraband. You see, any unidentified object in space is picked up by the deep space sensors and this lot... The Korathi, consider everything in 'their' space to be 'theirs'. We beg to differ. On our world we have a saying. Finders <unintelligible>, Losers <unintelligible>"
Frostbite considered. So this gang of space... rogues.. Pirates, slavers, traders, thieves and anything else they could turn a profit from, were not welcome in this part of space. The relevant authorities didn't like them much, outnumbered them, probably held a grudge...
"THEY ARE CHARGING WEAPONS!" bellowed an Alien.
... and were making ready to atomize the ship!
"Our weapons are still... <unintelligible>" said the small alien after looking at a screen. He gave it a whack. "Stupid computer!"

Frostbite had to ask, "So will the shoot first and ask questions later?" He had a feeling he knew the answer would be yes. The question being what did he do. He could delay them by fighting for the cops. However in truth he knew that these scoundrels, for all their generosity to him, would only carry on being a menace elsewhere. He held no love for them but there was still a matter of a debt to be settled. Moreover he had the still pressing problem of being in some kind of universe within the universe he knew, and having no idea where his friends in the vastness of it all might be. Not even such much as a hint of where to look first of all. However if these authorities were in the business of picking up people...might they have heard from them.
"You get your drive online, don't worry about weapons, I'll draw their fire and you make good your escape. That way we can consider our debt paid. Agreed."
Frostbite held out a hand, before requesting breathing apparatus, he didn't fear the cold but would be useless without some form of environmental survival gear.
OOC: Assuming contraband is of far more worth than this ragtag motley crew, I am going to offer up myself to try and get them off the hook. Once I've got breathing gear, I'll head out to space and try and see if I can fly in such a way as to decoy the ships. Failing that, I'll fly into their path and try and make myself irresistible and failing that make myself a nusance firing on them, flying into their ships by dispersal and what not.

Re: The New Vanguard! Frostbite Issue #6 - Toto...
Frostbite spoke his part and the small alien paused before nodding and grabbing for face mask and cannister. "Not completely <unintelligible> but enough for your <unintelligible> lungs for several quantons" it said
'Quantons are a measure of time, clearly. I shall ascertain how long when compared to our human measurements.' explained Frostbot. 'You *could* risk your life for these beings in the manner you plan to. Or... you could place your hand on one of their computers and let me see if I can found out what the problem is.. .and fix it.'
Frostbite looked at the screen. He saw the dots forming into shapes, and from them, dots of light separated and started towards the ship he was on. Shortly they would form into torpedoes of some kind, and if they struck?
By protecting these... Pirates... or delaying these newcomers in any way, he was taking sides, and the beings on those ships would identify him as an enemy... But lowlife types were by their nature procurer's... items, services, information... perhaps about his missing friends? It all rested on whether Frostbot could fix the computers and get this bucket moving... or whether he could fend off half a dozen spaceships whilst this ragtag crew tried to figure out why their ship was broken!

Frostbite shrugged, whilst grabbing the apparatus from the alien he moved over to the panel indicated by Frostbot. Placing his hand on it a momentary glow moved from him to the panel as he awaited developments. 'Might was well get what I can and not limit my options before the dye is cast.' Frostbite thought to himself.
OOC:Sorry under the weather at the moment, so not thinking as straight as I might otherwise do, in any case lets see what we can find out and see if I can't make a mess of this. Trying to do the right thing is really hard when you've no idea who you should side with and against. Let alone which way is up, here. Anyway if Frostbot can do something all good and well, if not lets go with my original plan. It can't be any worse as its all improvisation anyway ;-)

Re: The New Vanguard! Frostbite Issue #6 - Toto...
Frostbot slipped fro its human host into the machine. instantly a screen nearby commented 'This will be... challenging. Not only do several of the computer systems not fully understand some others, they also don't 'like them', as strange as that sounds. Bizarre. I may need time...'
The small alien activated the breathing apparatus as Frostbite slipped it on and adjusted it. It was far too big but he sealed the gaps with ice that would hold for a while in outer space.
"You must buy us time! The engines will take time to spool up! The navigation system needs... persuading to work with the engine. The weapons..." the alien looked exasperated. "In the <unintelligible> we will try to negotiate."
Frostbite waited for the airlock to cycle. Even that coughed and spluttered, and an alarm blared to signal loss of pressure. If he'd been an ordinary human it would have killed him! As it was he was spat into open space, tumbling and spinning before willing himself to fly forwards and then up. The ship behind him was massive! He was a speck against it, but it looked like a mish mash of cobbled together parts and even other smaller spacecraft, crudely joined and creaking as it seemed at any moment it would break up into separate parts!
Shaking his head he turned to the problem at hand... and immediately was aware of a point of light getting larger! An incoming torpedo, aimed at the ship - and he was between them!

Unsure of how his powers would work in space, he felt it better to go for what he felt most confident about. Although in truth confidence was on a list of least available resources, or so it felt at that moment.
Still, stealing himself he launched forward aiming to snag the missile as it sped through the airless vacuum toward the hulking mass. Surely an easier target could not easily be found save perhaps the side of a planet?
OOC: Ok I get that the vacuum of space means the missile isn't going to get worried about cold, but sub sub zero cold? If I can get hold of it, I will try the obvious thing of shoving my hands onto its panel and using whatever I can to conduct cold through the metal, alloy or other substances to within itself. Freezing whatever passes within. If that doesn't do something, then I'll go for my more bulked up version and try and smash a way into it, or throw it off. Need to find a way to do this quickly as jumping from missile to missile is going to be impractical. Let alone costly if I end up dishing HP each time.

Re: The New Vanguard! Frostbite Issue #6 - Toto...
OOC The missile is coming at the spaceship at an amazing rate, faster than Frostbite actually flies. His only shot is to intercept it or try a distance blast.
So, your options:
Fly as fast as you can then physically attack it, maybe as you say to affect its innards or coat it in so much ice the propulsion is snuffed out or it weighs so much that it veers off course. So that would involve pushing your flight (to go faster) to get in range then striking a very fast moving object with ice production or energy blast to try and destroy it.
OR... get in the path of the thing to try and stop it (Energy blast or Ice Production) which will be easier BUT failure means the missile will most likely affect the ship if it explodes, whereas the first (harder) option might mean you get a second (even harder!) shot at it.
So, hard or very hard but with a second chance (albeit very VERY hard!!!)

OOC:Ok let's go for option 1 and leave 2 for reserve, if 1 does fail then go for option 2 but use HP as needed and pray like mad that Frostbot can get that hunk of junk moving.

Re: The New Vanguard! Frostbite Issue #6 - Toto...
Frostbite pushed his flight as much as he dared! He needed a burst of speed to intercept that missile and needed to hit it hard with all he had in order to throw it off course!
Here goes nothing!
OOC Adrenaline surge on Flight. You only need a roll of 5 or more but will chuck in a HP Die as well (cost 6HP)
FROSTBITE HP 118
Roll(3d10)+0: 8,5,4,+0 Total:13 + Adrenaline Surge 15 (28) vs TN 11 + Flight 9 (20). +4 Effect. 19EV vs Flight 9=+10 RAPs. Flight boosts to 15 APs, maximum speed for Frosty.
Speeding through space Frostbite knew immediately that he would not get to the incoming torpedo in time! What was considered fast in atmosphere (and he was travelling at escape velocity...) was sluggish in space! That meant he had to fire on the torpedo, and would have one shot!
OOC Using HP to hit the torpedo... This is going to be hard! 30HP spend and even then... 6 Dice...
FROSTBITE HP 98
Roll(6d10)+0: 8,1,6,3,10,5,+0 Total:18 No Double! This could be disastrous!
18 + Energy Blast (14) (32) vs TN11 + Torpedo Speed 20 (31). HIT! Just... EV +1 to 15 vs Torpedo body 7. 9 damage.
BOOOOOOOOOOOM!!!!
The explosion didn't look big but as the torpedo rocketed past Frostbite in (relatively) close space terms he felt the shock wave spin him backwards, using his Flight to steady himself. He'd done it. He'd flown to his limits, taken his best shot at his most extreme range and taken out the...
Oh no.
He glanced over his shoulder. He counted four more incoming torpedoes!
OOC it never rains but...

Frostbite was at a loss as to what to do, except they were coming toward him, so he could at least focus on one thing - firing at them to set them off course.
OOC: Ok so don't know what is best here, multi attack or individual quick bursts. I'll go with what seems best to be able to take them down and blow HP as needed to get at them if needed.

Re: The New Vanguard! Frostbite Issue #6 - Toto...
Just then as Frostbite considered his next action, the spaceship he'd just left started to fire it's weapons...
Except the weapons seemed weak and firing in a strange way... He could have sworn the guns were 'stuttering' in some way... in fact...
.- -... --- .- .-. -..
OOC Feel free to use the internet to figure out what this means... Frosty will know this sort of thing from his adventures and his past life...
He glanced at the torpedoes, inbound... what was he going to do? Only seconds to decide!!!
