OOC Spartan is in charge of the ship. Boadicea is on board in the infirmary, having had cyborg parts fitted to her. There are around a dozen Peelers (trained agents for DICE) and about twenty RAF/Army personnel seconded to DICE for the duration of the war, all signed up to the Official Secrets act or equivalent and Peelers in training. There are around 100 Skrall technicians on board, cybernetically linked to one another and the ship itself. If the Ships computers detect a system down or defect of some kind, they set to fixing it.

Spartan is a 'PSI Corps lite' - superhuman, though just barely. An accomplished hand to hand fighter, pilot, strategist and leader, he's not big in the power stakes.

HQ has its own problems - the place is overrun with Animal/Human hybrids, General Wynn has had a heart attack, and Frostbite, Lionheart, Gravity Girl, Bulletman, NoMan and Sunburst have their hands full there.

There are half a dozen bombers left, the biggest group of which is three. The single three have scattered, each to deliver their deadly payload over London. The group of three is headed towards Buckingham Palace.

"Anyman thats great news, god knows we could do with a moral boost right now but unless you can instantly do that teleport thingy you guys talk about Londons pretty muched screwed"

"Six bombers left sentinel, good news three bombers are still clumped, bad news they are heading towards your buckingham place.

'Shadow prince.....i know your there, help me again in our most desperate hour of need. I need you to get me to those three bombers now, instantly'

"Spartan, get to the other three lone Nazi bombers NOW". Then a blue flash the metal clad man was gone

"God save the king" spartan said quietly to the space were his fellow vanguard stood mere seconds before. "Engines to full power dam it, we have a job to do"

Once again Steve put his life in the 'hands' of the shadow inside of him blindly but what choice did he have? Could he trust the dark prince truely, yes he and his kind had great power but what was its big picture? Steve never did trust things he couldnt see with his own eyes.

Spartan acknowledged Sentinels order "Understood. On our way. Good luck Sentinel."

He turned to the Peelers on the ship "Flank speed, target bearing 271, tracking. Rail guns stand by."

The V-Ship. cumbersome and clumsy in atmosphere, banked and pulsed its engines, taking off after the bomber it had targeted. The vessel streaked over the streets of London, rattling windows and kicking dust up in its wake as it thundered through the sky.

"Closing." announced a Peeler. "Range in..."

Spartan shook his head "We need to take the damn thing out, not shower London with stray rail gun shells. They are designed to work in vacuum. Accuracy is limited. Helm? Distance to target?"

Spartan looked at the table, with its screen covering the surface and showing an overhead map of London, illuminated dots showing the positions of the targets. They were closing fast. Problem was, would they catch all three in time before they dropped their payload? He looked at a digital readout that'd been altered to show English and shouted "More speed dammit!

=========

Meanwhile Silver Sentinel concentrated on summoning the power from within...

"I need speed" he muttered, flying at his own top speed and coming nowhere near the 4-500mph he would need to catch the Bombers as they sped off across London towards their target.

The Dark Power answered.

OOC Sentinel 12 Ego + Roll 10=22. Dark Power 7 points + 1 Dark Power growth + Roll 9=17. Roll passed, 7d10=8,4,3,2,10,9,6 (42 dark power points). Options - two grades of Flight bumps you up to around 750mph. If you fly flat out for a round you might be in range of the last Bomber of the three you are following. Might. Teleportation has you able to jump up to 800m in an action, which is the equivalent of Mach 2. You will catch them in that case but it will cost you 40htc and leave you staggered on just 8htc, but with 7Dark Power points left to heal you up to 15htc, enough to shrug off the staggered but you'll be extremely vulnerable if you are struck. It's your call.

OOC: If teleportation is a sure thing its got to be the only option for theres lives at steak and 'might' will not do and whatever is left over to stabilize sentinel would be very handy.

IC: Before Steve could work out where he was to he suffered from the biggest head rush ever and if felt like he was falling but which way was up

Moving great distances instantly comes at a price, allow me

Sentinels mind begain to clarify, he was falling. Quickly firing his thrusters he stabilized only to hear the done of the three bombers all a round him. Ripping there engines out as fast as possible he didnt waste any time and sped of after the other three although he knew it would take a miracle to get to the other three Nazi flying machines in time.

'But thank you shadow once again you saved thousands'

Choosing teleportation, Silver Sentinel vanished, then reappeared. He hopped again, and the second time appeared in front of the three Bombers! His head spun, he felt dizzy... disorientated... using the Dark Power to heal himself, albeit a small amount, he saw the oncoming bombers open fire!

The bullets sped through the air, screaming towards their target! And stopped.

Hundreds of rounds stopped and fell harmlessly with a thought from Sentinel! Another thought grabbed an engine from the first plane, grabbed a second as it came into range, then the last one found its engines torn free of the wings! All three started spiralling towards the ground, and with a thought he guided the remaining metal in the things towards the Thames, where all splashed down without further loss of human life!

He took a deep breath! At last he'd caught a...

THWOOM!

Across the city an explosion rang out! Sentinel saw a silver dot - the V-Ship - catch the second of the bombers it was chasing!

Then his heart seemed to stop as the remaining bomber dropped its deadly payload! Bomb after bomb that exploded, showering fiery chemicals down on the streets below!

"NO!" he muttered. "NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!"

==========

"Bring her about." said Spartan. "Lock on, full sp... oh no... GET OVER THERE! DO IT! DO IT NOW!"

Spartan moved to the helm as he watched the devastation wrought on London via the huge screen on the bridge! Fireballs rolled into the sky, dozens of them! Buildings caught fire and the bomber continued spewing foot long bombs that sprayed explosive liquid fire all about! People screamed and ran, some weren't so lucky...

"Dammit! MOVE! GO! GO! GO!" shouted Spartan.

=========

Sentinel saw the distant bomber...

It's path was taking it towards 10 Downing Street!

OOC this is going to be tight... Need a number from you if you want to call on the Dark power. An alternative would be to fly as fast as you can, or to drop to street level and pull yourself from building to building with your power... That will be slower. The attack will be over in less time than that takes... If you are unlucky with the Dark power check... you wipe out all of London. No one said being a hero would be easy...

OOC: How close is it? Dont suppose you can tell me really and I only have 1 hero points left. I think sentinel has to try control the dark power he cant just watch the bombers dropping there pay load.

I was just thinking yesterday hind slight is a wonderful thing, I should of attempted to blast the Nazi human torch to slow him down then lept from plane to plane to take them all out or something then sentinel might have been dead but London would have been safe.

OOC there's no 'right' or 'wrong' way - and in many cases its simply a no win situation, because life is like that Shocked It's probably frustrating for you guys as players being unable to completely save the day but I prefer to run things like that rather than having things rail roaded and parcelled up neatly, ready to be completed and move on. So, all you can do is your best, which is what you're doing Smile The main goal for me in your characters WWII adventures was to train them in the use of the Dark Power and try their best to change the outcome of the war. If you had Dark Power level 5-10, it's possible you could end the War with a wave of the hand. Until then, all you can do is fight fires and save what lives you can. Wars are kinda like that Sad

Right, back on topic - the Bomber is 1/2 a mile away. Sentinels 30mph (or whatever it is) flying speed can't hope to keep up with the 150mph bombing run speed let alone the 400mph cruising speed of these things. You are due a mountain of Hero Points at the end of this issue. The 'ping pong' energy Nazi is zipping about in the sky. He'll spot you eventually, but to him you simply vanished! Remember your metal power. It has a range of 100m. This energy guy might be able to ping about really quick, but being super strong, and therefore able to burst from a costume made of metal, isn't probably his thing. You could also carry ball bearings, form them into bullets, thin metal walls, even make them come alive in a way and distract his foe. take a look at the character sheet and come up with some odd/new/inventive way of using your powers. Chances are it *might* work Smile

Sentinel realised he hadnt much time, the bomber looked about half a mile away. Sensing the crude metal shapes all around him scattered around London, from the thick sewer pipes beneath the cobbles to the lead lined gutterings. He had no time, without thinking he grappled like a magnet to the sewer lines pinging down the old foggy streets getting faster and faster, the huge bomber was getting closer. He was traveling at great speeds now maybe five times faster than his normal flight speed all from sensing a metal source least than 100m away then using his amazing ability to sling shot him self forward. Sentinel knew he could get any faster so launched himself into the anything but fresh london air ripping a couple of lead caps off a nearby roof.

Whistling through the air the vanguard waited until the very moment he started to slow down then hammer threw one of the lead caps like a missile with his super human strength followed by the second one moments later. This was he last chance, there was no more metal sources he could grapple after this point. Steve closed his eyes tight for he didnt need them to find his targets, he launched off one cap then the other.

OOC: How close is sentinel now? If he is still out of range for the 100m metal morphing attack he'll use his plasma blast (assuming it has more range)
If he is out of range I'll go with this worse case scenario...........

IC: There was a series of heavy clunking noises sentinel snapped his eyes open only to see his worse fears, the bomb bay doors were opening.

'damn'. He was still out of range to rip that god forsaken machine out of the sky, just shy.

His plasma blast wasnt strong enough to stop the bomber or slow it down. The first bomb rolled into its cradle ready for its drop.

Sentinels speed was returning to normal what was he going to do? This was the end.

The catchs were released and the massive bomb dropped....

"THE BOMBS" he exclamed. The bomber couldnt be destroyed by his blast but the bombs could.
Sentinel fired everything he had to the mega tonne bomb

OOC: Hero points please

IC: The heavy weight that was the bomb glowed for a second before exploding causing a chain reaction with the others in the hanger taking out everything on board before the Nazi plane itself exploded sending sentinel reeling through the air

OOC Apologies for the delay. I have had a nasty week, what with night shifts and looking after the kids during the day (they are off school). Quite literally the only time I've gotten near a computer is at 2-3am, and by that time my eyes are dangling from springs. Got one more night shift to grind through (23.00 tonight for 12 hours) then reasonable hours.

Right, you might not like this much (I like it not at all) but I *think* I worked out how to convert m/frame into mph. Simply multiply by 1.5. If a frame is 1.5 seconds long (give or take - that's a guess) and using your metal power to pull you along moves you 100m/action (50m/frame) you are looking at 75mph. Your flight? This is the bit you won't like. You fly at 23mph. It's more like floating really. Piss poor, mind my french, but Dave E and I are in agreement about the street level nature of the game needing an update.

So your normal powers won't cut it, unfortunately.

More bad news - your plasma blast has a range of 20m, 40m at extreme range. More street level.

Sentinel will have to go for Dark power and speed if he wants to catch the bomber. Dark Power 8 points + Growth = 10 + Roll 11 = 21. Sentinel Ego 12 + Roll 13=25. Roll passed. Dark power points 7,2,10,3,4,5,3,1=36. Not enough for high enough Teleportation, so Grade 3 flight will have to do... Used the 6 remaining Dark Power points to heal htc.

Using the Dark Power Sentinel enhanced his flying speed! The wind howled as it ripped past him, and with every heartbeat that passed he accelerated! Even as he did so he saw the bomb bay doors open, and cannisters spill down from above towards the unsuspecting people below! The air raid sirens rang out, and the Spitfires in the distance did their best to close the range now that the bombers had slowed to increase their accuracy!

Faster! FASTER!

With a growl, gritted teeth and clenched fists the Sentinel of Steel ripped through the sky! CRACK!.... BOOOOM!!! The air folded behind him, spooling outwards in a ring! Below, people cried out, covering their ears and windows rattled, dogs yelped! The metallic figure sped across the skies over London, even as he felt the speed wear off!

And below, fire billowed up where the cannisters burst, spewing white hot death and mayhem on Londons streets!

"Noooo!" cried Sentinel, and reached out with a hand, straining his metal control to something beyond his limits!

OOC Ego check. To pull this off you need 30 or more, so I'll assume you use a hero point. Roll 11 + Ego 12 + Roll 8. You get 31. No hero points left...

Sentinel reached out with his power, straining its range beyond anything he thought possible! Grabbing hold of multiple metal objects as far as a mile away he wrenched on them as hard as he could! He catapulted forward, even as his dark power wore off! Spinning in the air, he soared on his back and thrust his hands up as he flew underneath the bomber... and repulsed the cannisters, sending them back into the plane! It exploded in a fiery cloud, and debris rained down through the sky!

Sentinel didn't see it though - the exertion had caused him to black out, and London spiralled towards him as he crashed into a roof, sending tiles showering into the air, skipped and tumbled head over heels, and smacked - hard - into a wall, his limp form falling several stories to flatten a car on the street below! People cried out, moving back, then forward to see what had tumbled from the sky, but all was dark for the young warrior...

=========

"...hear me?" said a familiar voice. The ringing in his head translated into bells as he opened his eyes.

Fire bells. With a groan Sentinel eased himself up. "Take it easy. You took quite a hit." said Spartan. His face was covered in soot, and his costume torn and blackened in places. Behind Spartan, the Peelers and Skrall technicians helped ordinary firemen and civilians fight the blazing infernos that were buildings where the fiery napalm had struck. "You saved number 10 - and the Prime Minister. Number 11 took quite a hit though."

Sentinel looked about. Downing street, home of the Prime Minister of Great Britain, Winston Churchill. Firemen raced this way and that as sirens clanged out, and police sought to contain the crowds. Somewhere a building fell inwards, a great crash of bricks and wood sending dust high into the air. Sentinels ribs hurt, and his leg shot a lance of pain through his body. He'd struck the building at ... what... 900mph? Frankly, he was amazed he wasn't dead! His armour was a mess, hanging off in pieces, smashed and buckled in others. With a thought it reformed into the perfect second skin again, but his body would need time to heal. He looked about. "The bombers?"

"You did it." Spartan said, nodding, and clapping Sentinel on the shoulder. "There were casualties, and the fires are still spreading, but the bombers were stopped. We need to get you to a hospital though..."

Sentinel looked past him, and Spartan followed his gaze, his hand dropping to the Lunarium Gun that rested in the holster.

There, striding through the wreckage of bricks and burning cars, the glowing Nazi that had attacked Sentinel...

World War II - The Vanguard Issue #8 Edge of Oblivion... - Page 2 Zigzag

The soldiers levelled guns at him and fired round after round at the enemy! Useless. The bullets pinged off in every direction, and a fireman cried out as he was struck in the back! Spartan levelled the gun and shot the fellow in the head, once, twice... The rounds did not ping off, and seemed to make him pause in his step, but otherwise did nothing! Spartan spoke into his earpiece "This is Spartan! Get down here! The Nazis are..."

"...Skrrz... under attack! Crackle skrrzzz... Nazis boarding us!" came the reply! Both Spartan and Sentinel looked into the air to see the distant V-Ship, stood guard over London, as it was battered by superhuman hands and blasts that tipped it from side to side! Spartan looked at Sentinel. "I have to get up there to do... something! Our people are dying!"

Sentinel groaned as he pushed himself to his feet. His leg felt broken, though his armour stiffened it and allowed him to get about. His ribs were smashed along one side, and it felt like he'd fracture his shoulder.

He'd had better days...

Now this Nazi intended to kill Winston Churchill, and only Silver Sentinel stood in his way!

OOC he is one point away from going down, 10 points from dying (htk) or being k'od (htc), with a broken leg, ribs and fractured shoulder. He saved Winston Churchill but the Nazis haven't given up. Initiative 5 Sentinel 7 Bad Guy (we'll call him Zigzag). Zigzag stands 30m away (long range for energy blast) and walks 6m towards Sentinel. He can see the Englishman is injured and battered, but also knows not to underestimate him. You have 4 frames, then the bad guys remaining three. Up at the V-Ship the Nazis are killing the crew....

OOC: Ouch your right he has seen better days.

I knew sentinels speed sucked but damn, next level up my upgrading his speed. I know hes a bit of a tank but even a ww2 tank moves faster than that.

IC: Sentinels leg was getting unbearable now but he had to push the pain aside for a few minutes more. He could sense dozens of heavy metal deposites all around....it was his time to shine.

BLLLLLAAAAMMMM

In a instant two beaten up cars that were covered in broken bricks crushed zigzag from both sides and quickly started to liquidfie as sentinel tryed to contain the firery menace.

OOC: I have a plan...i know doesnt happen very often. Beat zigzag with cars, if he survives that which Im betting he will, try to contain him which im also betting he'll be fine with as I hoping he'll try to burn his way out. Bombbard him with masses of metal, hopefully causing more damage (save the fire engine unless I really need it, London will need it more) Then as zigzag is covered in white hot metal super cool him with nearby water ether from a water pipe of one of the firemens hoses.

World War II - The Vanguard Issue #8 Edge of Oblivion... - Page 2 Downing_Street_Map

OOC The yellow star is 10 Downing Street.
Blue Dot is Vanguard (Spartan and Silver Sentinel)
Red Dot is Nazi known as ZigZag.

Not shown - various police and soldiers, burning cars, panicking press, Fire Crew. Not shown (off map) the V-Shop is under attack by the other Nazis.

Technically Sentinel controls metal molecules, but doesn't heat or cool them. He can sever or strengthen the bonds between metal, control the movement of the stuff from one point to another, reform it, shape it into basic forms.

Sentinel, despite the pain, remained calm behind his steel skin. With a wave of his hand two cars flew through the air, forming as they moved into a liquid like net, dropping over the villain! Instantly the metal pinged away like water splattering in all directions! It stopped the Nazi in his tracks though and he looked about as more cars flew through the air, along with the metal that had been repulsed by the Nazis energy field! He gave a nervous laugh "Look at you Englishman! You can barely..." His words were cut off as more metal collapsed over him like a shower of steel!

This time less metal pinged from him and the mans glow was greatly diminished as he cried out in anger. "you... you shall pay for that!" he bellowed, brushing liquid metal off his energy form then staggering forward, shaking off the remaining metal as best he could. The soldiers opened fire with their guns again. This time the bullets pinged into him, and he staggered back under the withering hail of fire!

He took a step back, then another. This time his energy form was even dimmer, and he stuttered "Vas ist...?" and looked up. "I shall be back to kill you, human!"

He leapt, taking to the sky... then sputtered, wobbled, and slammed straight into the Fire Engine side, feet jutting out! Angry, he glowed again and the Fire Engine - quite literally - burst out in a shower of metal and water! Breathing hard, kneeling in the wreckage, the Nazi shouted "You vill die! You vill all die!"

Spartan pulled his gun around, pointing at the Villain, then looked up. "I have to get up there! Do ... something! Can you handle this guy?" Without waiting for an answer he ignited the jetpack on his back and took to the sky, streaking through the air towards the distant V-Ship! Sentinel turned to the Nazi, barely glowing now but clenching his fists and gathering his efforts for one last attack! This was it! Do or die!

OOC Initiative... 10 Heroes 4 Bad guys. You have 3 frames, bad guy is 20m away. The place is strewn with wreckage and fire is licking about the buildings on Downing Street now. Without that Fire Engine there's a very real chance of the fire consuming the PM's residence!

The flaming humanoid was furious, no one had ever bested him before, he was so angry infact he hadnt noticed the still burning wreckage of the fire engine twitching on the sodden ground until it was to late. Something caught Zigzags eye as took a double take of a large piece of chassis begining to rise into the air. He was surrounded on all sides by the shards of the red truck. Many of the police and solders that stopped assisting the fire fighters that were do what they could agaisnt the overwhelming fire and watched in awe at this flaming man were sickened by the sight of him getting impaled by multiple beams and wreckage from all directions but sentinel watched unblinking.

He quickly snapped out of his exhausted trans like state. Realizing the horror of the scale of the fire that had been blazing away all along sentinel formed the remaining masses of steel from the nearby area to scoop up the heavy pools of water from the gallons that was split, making a crude container and controlling it to hover over number 10 then dumping its contents.

And not a moment to soon as the flames started licking at the window pains. The second the wave of water meet the fire it was replaced with steam.

Soon after a second fire engine arrived on scene to finish tackling the rest of the smaller fires that remained.

Sentinel smashed the remains of the Fire Engine down on his foe, then lifted them, dropping them again and again! Somewhere in the midst of that wreckage was a scream of pain, then a bright flash was let out! After that, only the sounds of the flames burning buildings could be heard, as well as the ring of distant bells.

"Is it dead?" asked one Fireman, fearful. "Bleedin' eck mate, you smashed 'im good un proper! Which one are you then? Anyman or that blue one? Ey, what's that bird like, Gravity whatsername?"

Sentinel quelled his momentary irritation. He'd changed his look a few times since the press photo for the Daily Mirror that Forbes had sent. He created a crude scoop and starting scoop up water, heck, soil from gardens, anything to douse the flames! He'd been hard at it when another Fire Engine turned up.

"Excuse me sir!" asked a Policeman, dashing up to Sentinel. "But your mate, 'im that flew off... He's gettin' a right kickin' up there!"

Sentinel followed the Policemans gaze and saw with horror that he was right! The white clad man of the four he'd seen was pummelling Spartan in the sky, the huge frog creature was straddling the V-Ship, tearing chunks off it, and the woman was helping him, blasting away and sending a red beam through the ship in places! Smoke and fire billowed from it!

They were around half a mile up! Sentinel knew he would have to fly faster than he'd ever done to save Spartan and the V-Ship, but could he take on three nazis and live in his current state?

OOC he is a mess, and a stiff breeze will knock him out...

OOC: What kind of state us boadica in now and has anyone called off the spitfires? Random question but is there any AA denfences, I know they arent terriably accurate but what if sentinel ripped the guns from its mounts or just its ammo then flew closer to the remaining three super nazis?

Some healing is in order, big time

OOC Boadicea is in no fit state to go into action, being the process of having prosthetic limbs fitted. The spitfires are still en route - the bombers/V-ship are so much faster than them that they were minutes ahead. You can make the call (and your rank as a Vanguardian overrules everyone at times like this) on the AA guns, but chances are you'd nail the stricken V-Ship too. The Gunners will be somewhat twitchy with fires going up and word spreading that London is under attack!

You can call on more dark power to heal if required. I'll assume you want to. Let's go with 7 points (+2 for Dark power Growth). SS Roll 9 + Ego 12 (21) vs Roll 7 + Ego 9 (16). Roll passed. Dark Power 7,3,4,2,6,6,3 (31 points). You want to use all of that to heal or boost flight speed?

OOC: Tough one, yes I need the bonus to speed but would good would sentinel be once he is up there and in no fit state to fight? Sod it gamble and he will sacrifice himself to save the others, 50/50 split with the left over point to heal.

IC: The young vanguard was still in no fit state to fight and he had to get to the v ship. He could feel his body fill with rage, when would this endless up hill struggle be over, he knew he was better than rage and he had to be careful as his mind quickly flashed back to the first time he truly embraced the dark shadows power and let rage consume him. Then he could feel some thing else wash over him, like a white light, as his leg gentally when back into place and knitted its self. The dark power had done so much for him.

"Time to break up this dance" said sentinel as he bound onto the air on a course straight for the v ship, feeling empowered his speed was much more than before. He could see the super nazis much clearer now, the giant frog ripping panels of the vanguard shit like he was ripping open a cardboard box, and so he would be his first target. Lining up his plasma blast (OOC: is that better than the metal morph to blow up the jetpack?) in advance he aimed for the frogs jetpack, if he could ignite that if might cause some damage but more importantly cause the over size reptile to plummet.

OOC 15 points to boost speed to grade 2. That will only last for 1 round (it's a boost, not an upgrade) but increases your speed a bit nonetheless (Flight speed grades are pitiful in this game. More like floating along and being passed by cyclists...). 16 points to increase htc and htk by 8 points apiece to 18/18. It's still not good, so mind your step...

Bloodied, bruised and feeling like something was broken inside, Sentinel tried his best to knit his body together with the dark power and took to the air. The speed boost didn't last long, and he ground his teeth in frustration as his progress seemed painfully slow as he soared through the air above London. From here he saw fires being fought, and some that blazed out of control. The chemicals that the Nazis had dropped on Englands capital city were of a type not seen before and even dousing them with water seemed to quell them only momentarily! Those caught in the fiery embrace of Nazis deadly attack!

The pain relieved somewhat with a thought and application of the Dark Power but Sentinel flew on anyway. The half mile reduced, but it would be another minute and a half before he got there!

He saw the jet pack ripped from Spartan, who gamely jammed his pistol into the Nazis face, then fired, again and again and again... to no avail.

Sentinel saw a spread of red mist as Spartan was backhanded high into the air, tumbling and spinning before he started to fall. Even if he survived the beating he'd taken, the fall from half a mile up would smash him to smithereens...

The V-Ship cracked, fire spitting out the side as the Frog thing grabbed a handful of pipes and coolant radiators to spew gas and fire out! The Frog cried out, then fell back, using its jetpack to right itself whilst it admired its handiwork. All the while the V-Ship hammered round after round into it with the inefficient and inaccurate railguns, and something must have struck home because the Frog creature covered its face and turned - mistake!

The next salvo smashed into its jetpack! All of a sudden the Frog creature was falling from half a mile up, and the other glowing red Nazi swooped around to slow the Frog creatures fall as best she could...

Sentinel looked back to the V-Ship and came to one inescapable conclusion - the V-Ship was heading for a crash landing on the streets of London!

OOC Things go from crazy to desperate. Spartan is falling without a jetpack from half a mile up. The V-Ship is crippled and crashing into London. The white clad Nazi is heading towards the Houses of Parliament, flying. The Frog Nazi and Red Laser Nazi woman are dropping towards the streets of London, out of the fight for the time being. Fires are breaking out all over the capital and the emergency services are having all sorts of problems containing them... You are still over a minute away at your current flight speed, and won't catch Spartan before he falls. Dark Power will help but... without Hero Points chances are you will destroy London. Another choice is using metallic objects nearer street level to pull yourself along and have a better chance of catching Spartan or the V-Ship.

Seeing spartan fall sentinel there was no way he could get to him in time.....but the nearby market stalls would.

Once again using his metal manipulation powers he desperately gobbled to gether a plan. He try to anticipate spartans fall and used the stalls canvas's with the steel rods still inside, his idea sounded crazy at best and it was sometime he read in aaladin. The canvas's would slow his decent and he would bring him gentally to the ground.

"ere wot are u doin to me market?" shouted one local as he struggled to set up stall.

Sentinel didnt have time to engage to conversation

'god I hope this works' (OOC: Does it? If so....)

"Thank you sentinel, that that was more than close"

"Please my good friend call me Steve. Now we have lifes time, can you walk?" but before spartan could answer a black wolseley wasp with sirens pulled up.

"Who do you think you are disturbing peoples.... Oh I didnt realize it was you super types"

"We need your car old boy its a matter of life and death" sentinel shouted not even waiting for a reply he bundled spartan in and floored it towards the v ship.

Sentinel saw the helpless falling man, a dot against the grey and blue tumbling through the sky. It would be impossible to save him. There was no chance of keeping him alive.

In other words, a normal everyday occurrence for the Vanguard.

He reached out, grabbing onto lead pipes on a building, then pulling hard, catapulting into the air, grabbing onto a car, a lamp post, a bench by the side of the road... The streets of London seemed to fade out of view of Silver Sentinel as he saw... no felt the metal and pulled himself through the air, catapulting across the skyline of London.

"Come on!" he shouted against the howl of the wind, diving between the canyons of the streets. "COOOOMMMMMME ONNNNNNNNNN!" he bellowed, and lunged, hard as he saw the tumbling form disappear behind the skyline of buildings. Lunging over the roof of a building he saw the market in the distance and cried out with the effort of moving a stand, tarpaulin and all, underneath Spartan!

OOC Roll 20 (doubled)...

The limp form fell... and Sentinel caught him! He flew across to where the broken form lay, and his heart sank...

Lowering Spartan down and ignoring the protests of the stall owner, Sentinel looked across his body. He'd been battered by superhuman fists that could crush vault doors like newspaper...

Coughing blood, Spartan sagged back. "Leave... me... save... others!" he said raising a bloody hand to the sky where the V-Ship tumbled towards the ground! Sentinel turned to see the craft spiralling towards the streets of London. It would wreak massive devastation when it struck!

OOC The car idea won't get you there in time (the streets of London are clogged and cars aren't exactly quick in 1940...). Spartan is going to die unless he gets help. The Nazis are looking to destroy the seat of government... time to make the hard choice... The Dark Power can help you, but Sentinel is nowhere near the level of power of Frostbite or Anyman... It's your call...

OOC: Do I really have to save the houses of parliament? The dark shadow informed me in the not to distant future from 1940 fuel prices will rocket.

A couple of questions before I answer fully, how far away is the v ship, is it in the same direction as parliament and if not whats closest? As ive never been to London can you tell me how close London bridge is to the houses of parliament and what is the range and speed of my metal objects I can launch with the metal morph power. Last one, Im assuming parliament would have the best air defence in the area and wheres dads army when you need them?

I think thats enough questions for a minute

Tell me about it. The wife mentioned her car was on 1/4 full so I topped it up for her tonight. That's £50 then @ £1.45.9/litre and the other day I topped the motorbike up at *gulp* £1.52.9 a litre. Ridiculous. And my wallet needed a stiff drink and lie down with a flannel on its head afterwards.

A couple of questions before I answer fully, how far away is the v ship It will land in a suburban area of London. Around Peckham, south of the river, is it in the same direction as parliament and if not whats closest? House of Parliament are closer to Downing street, around 0.5 mile As ive never been to London can you tell me how close London bridge is to the houses of parliament 2 miles away, ishand what is the range and speed of my metal objects I can launch with the metal morph power You can catapult something at a speed of around 30mph but it will tail off depending on weight. You could, for example, fling a car, but don't count on it going further than 10m out of your powers range (100m). An object within range can be moved about at 20m/frame up to 100m away . Last one, Im assuming parliament would have the best air defence in the area They were told to hold fire because the V-Ship is a friendly and the Nazi supers are too small to target and wheres dads army when you need them? Captain Mannering might be useful in turning this drama into a crisis.

I think thats enough questions for a minute

My answers are in Blue...

OOC: Dam I was thinking about ripping some rivets of the london bridge and firing them at those Nazi goons with the metal morph like a 50 cal super machine gun.
Sentinel has to at least try to save the v ship, I know its further away but its a heavily built up area.....plus there wouldnt be any only fools and horses in the future.
I've been driving for 10 years now and fuel has doubled.

OOC been driving 23 years this year and I recall fill the tank up on my poxy little Citroen AX for £19 or thereabouts then squeezing 500 miles out of it. It did 100 miles on reserve once, but I ran out on the way to the petrol station so that serves me right... There's plenty of other bridges in London for you to wreck, though the problem is the velocity of a bullet is somewhere around the speed of sound when it leaves a gun. You don't throw them with anything like that potency, and the Nazis are probably nigh on bulletproof anyway. Dark Power or fly to crash site and help who you can are probably your best options. Taking on the white clad (human male) Nazi before he can trash the houses of parliament might be an idea, as would using the dark power to call for help from Frostbite who has just saved the king. You can, basically, communicate with Frostbite, General Wynn, Anyman, Nowhere Boy and Sky Eagle anywhere in the known - or unknown - universe mind to mind, at any time. It's a fine balancing act, being a street level hero and swapping between one that could paste Superman with one arm behind his back, and it may not last forever, so probably best using it as much as possible - without blowing London up, of course.

OOC: AX!!! What a beast, sadly I work for citroen.

IC: "I hope this thing is on" sentinel said out loud as he scrambled over roof tops while watching the smoking twisted shell of the v ship as it made its way rapidly to wards the built up area ahead.

'Calling all vanguard, the houses of parliament will soon be under attack. I'll do what I can but Im afraid I may not make it in time. V ship is going down, on intercept now.

OOC: Sentinel will fly or whatever it takes to get to the v ship by the most direct route even if he has to crash through walls, would it be dangerous to increase his speed a little with dark power? Is the ship to heavy to stop with my metal manipulation powers because the plan is to get under it superman style backed up by super strength. How far would it be away now

OOC it's too far ahead and flying too fast for you to catch without using the Dark Power but that's your call (I'll just need the number of points you're trying for and will make the roll). With regards Citroen, I owned an AX, BX and ZX. BX was a death trap but it taught me how to drive without steering, foot brake, suspension or a clutch when the whole lot used to regularly go kaput. The ZX was a decent car. I used to tinker with the fuel/boost to make it go faster. Recently had a Peugeot 3008 as courtesy car for a month. Horrendous. Slow, 30mpg at best and laden with useless gadgest *shudder*. Not a big fan of French cars since they lost their mojo (last seen in the 90s!).

The weight of the V-Ship is beyond your capacity to slow as Sentinel stands at the moment (it would just drag you with it) but your plan is sound - if you can get yourself strong enough to lift it, and fast enough to get under it!
