With that he indicated that she should hand him her shoes, which he then snapped the heals off of, so she could walk around more easily with shoes that would be more sensible. Then moving to the wall he gave her a boast up to where Mei Lin was, before joining her and jumping cat like over the wall.

ok as soon as we are on the wall I am checking the ground between the wall and the house to find a usable line that avoids being seen, where possible. And either thinking about an entrance by which we can get in, or better still climbing on the outside to an upper area, where we might be able to sneak in. Ivy up the sides, drain pipe that sort of thing, so we can get in from above, where I hope the security will be less focused, than on the ground floor.

I'm really hoping Miss Johnson isn't a hero wannabe who is going to be a millstone around our necks, but someone with hidden talents, otherwise she is going to cause us so much hassle, it would almost be worth leaving her to get on with this mission. Almost!

With a few "ooh!" and "Hey!" hissed in the darkness, along with a "What the...? Those shoes were...watch your hands mister! Eeeep!" Mary was boosted up, then down the other side as Mei Lin instantly put an arm around her and hand clamped on her mouth, then leapt off the wall!

Jade Hood hopped up to the top of the wall to see Mei Lin in a crouch and Mary spitting out a mouthful of dirt in a flower bed!

Rolling his eyes he looked about.

The guards narrowed their eyes... Then they saw the near naked drunk singing and laughing... "We should release the dog!" hissed one guard, as his other hand went for the gun. "Wait! It might be a member. You know how they get."

They walked over as Stone Fist continued to sing to the bushes, the dog being told several times to quiet down and the guards stopped some 3m short. Stone Fist caught furtive movement of hands about to slip into jackets, but held off for the second.

"Who are you?" one guard drawled. Definitely not from round here!

Jade Hood held Marys hand as she was dragged along through the garden still in shock over what happened to the shoes

Mei Lin waited for them under a window and the trio saw the guards closing in on Stone Fist some 30m away from their position. Mei Lin and Jade Hood raised their heads slowly to peer into the window... JH firmly pushed Marys head down as she tried to do the same.

They saw a drawing room of some kind, with half a dozen older men dotted about reading books or newspapers. It was richly furnished, the walls covered with books and music played on an expensive looking Gramaphone. Then Jade Hoods eyes widened as a near naked, nubile young woman tottered in with a tray of drinks for those assembled! The cloth strips that covered her modesty were fashioned in the style of some slave of old!

Mei Lin said nothing, but when Mary popped her head up again her eyes widened and Jade Hood had to cover her mouth. Again.

Mei Lin ducked down, looked about, then pointed to a trellis covered with Ivy that went up the outside of the building to higher floors. Various windows had lights shining from them, but others didn't.

Just then the crunch of feet on gravel suggested someone was coming closer - and about to round the corner and see the unlikely trio!

Jade Hood indicated the Mei Lin should be ready with her blow dart, should they need it. Meanwhile Jade Hood helped Miss Johnson toward the trellis, stressing once again the need for silence. Deep within he recalled his techniques for bringing calm and focusing his frustrations into the matter at hand rather than letting loose at the hapless museum employee.

Ok if Mei Lin, takes on the guards, I'll stick around in case she needs help, but otherwise will get Miss J, up the trellis to a safer place. I'll leap down if need be, but otherwise want to try and get her to a balcony or some such above us, where she can be safer. Hopefully our body weight won't bring the whole trellis down on us.

"Who are you?" one guard drawled. Definitely not from round here!

"I am the Pirate King," Stone Fist sang, moving towards the men. "I am the model of a very modern Major General," he continued, mashing what little he knew of Gilbert and Sullivan.

"Have you seen my little chickadee," he asked, coming closer. "We were having a bit of fun and she decided to play Tag ... or was it Hide and Seek? I forget. She's around here somewheres."

ooc: Going to see if they will escort me in or get violent. If violent, then he will get violent back at them.

"Sir? Are you a member of the club?" asked one guard, keeping a tight hold on the dog whilst the other merely stated "Wie lautet das Passwort?"

Stone Fist hadn't a clue what the man just said, but he was shocked that he'd moved from an American accent into a flawless German accent. What on earth was this club about?

Something else bothered him.

OOC Roll 9+3 + Perception.

It was the way they moved. Their clothes hid what he figured must be lithe, muscular physiques. These guys didn't spend a lot of time in fancy restaurants, wining, dining and living the good life. He kind of got the idea that they studied - or knew something of - the techniques his friend used. Jade Hood wasn't as strong as he was, but with his speed and skill, equally effective. The hackles rose on the back of Stone Fists neck.

"Wie lautet das Passwort?" said the second guard, more insistent.

Jade Hood helped Mary clamber up the trellis. She huffed and puffed, but tried her best to remain quiet! As he helped - and watched his hands - Jade Hood turned and watched Mei Lin. She was crouched in shadows - classic Stalking Tiger - and poised with the blowpipe angled up towards the underside of the chin/throat.

A guard walked around the corner and stopped. He wasn't as surprised as Jade Hood expected him to be - well, until Mei Lin shot at him!

OOC He's not 'surprised' but she gets a free attack anyway. Range is around 10 feet so no penalty and she uses 3 effort to aim. Roll 4+8, 8, 8, 4. Doubles abound! Obviously she takes the 8,8. 6,6... and so it goes on... 7,5. Roll of 38 (!) plus her Combat Skill (12) + Martial Arts (5). Bad guy gets 10,2 plus Combat Skill (9). That's a difference of 34 points. Off the top of my head that's 12 (!) accuracy. The blow dart itself wouldn't normally do much damage (1) but the sedative it carries attacks the Body every round until the target is K'Od or the attack fails. However, in this case, damage is 5,6+1+12 vs 8,4+3 for the bad guy. 9 points of damage! Bad guy staggers, he's on 3 Health points. The sedative also attacks his body. 9,2+Sedative (4) vs 6,2+ Body (3). That's 4 difference. Timbbbbberrrrrr!

Before the man could even shout, or act, the dart is in his throat - directly into the main artery - and he claws at it, choking! When he pulls it out, he stares at then falls!

Jade Hood catches him, then lowers him down and moves him to the shadows. Mei Lin speaks before he can ask "A concoction of vemons. The enzymes will clot the blood near instantly. He will have a headache like the devil is playing drums in his brain when he wakes up though." she says, grinning behind the full face mask, and softening her harsh hunters expression.

Jade Hood was glad she was on his side!

"The guards will discover this man. I shall drag him to the wall and cover him with bushes, then make my way back." she said.

Jade Hood moved to climb up the trellis and started upwards.

OOC Roll of 9,3. No roll needed for JH really, just making sure a disaster didn't bring the trellis down. Even Mary is making the climb.

"Now what?" Mary hissed, looking down and shutting her eyes. The pair were adjacent to a ledge and window where the lights were off. They could enter that room, though it was sure to be locked given the nature of the place - or continue up the trellis to another floor.

Jade Hood was unsure, given the nature of the security here, they were facing something far more complex than they might have imagined. He turned to Mary, "Wait here on the balcony, keep down and keep out of sight whilst I go up further to see if I can find a way in."

With that Jade Hood, having made sure Mary was safe from discovery, went on up the trellis, eager to see if the security could be foiled further up. If he could find a way in, he might be able to sneak down inside, and open the window to the balcony from within.

"What?" hissed Mary, looking about. "Hold on.. wait! I... you're leaving me here?" she spluttered, holding onto the vines.

Jade Hood shot up the outside of the building like a spider, finding hand holds and hopping up onto the balcony of a window on the next floor. The window was ajar.

There were several voices speaking from within the darkened room, with only a candle shedding minimal light. They were hushed, and Jade Hood couldn't understand the language, but thought it might be German.

Below, Mei Lin sped back across to the building and started scaling up. Jade Hood looked across the gardens to see Stone Fist dancing about, partially clothed, dancing, and facing off against two goons with a guard dog, which was being held back. He thought he - might - be able to help his friend with throwing stars from this height, but it would need a good shot. He glanced at the open window. Or would he risk a look inside the room?

Reluctant to leave his friend to the mercy of the guards, he only wished he had some of that potent drug Mei Lin had used on her darts. Whilst being aware of his surroundings, the voices from within, Mary below and Mei Lin's ascent up the lattice, Jade Hood also brought his sharp mind to bear as he focused and then threw two stars at the guards below.

OOC:Ok lets sink some effort points into accuracy and damage to help Stone Fist get these guys off and away. I am sure if I can take them down, he can sort out the dog. As soon as the stars are away I'll take a moment to look inside the darkened room. I want to make sure I get some idea of what is going on as well as making sure I am not discovered.

OOC This will be a tricky shot. Range is 4 (100 feet), it's dark (+4 to defence of target) BUT the target is unaware of the attack (+2 to attack). An effort point on each (attack/defence) comes up with... 10,4,10 (Double 10!) plus 9,8. Total of 37 rolled! Plus CS11+Martial Arts 5+Surprise Attack 2= 55! The target has a defence of 11+CS9+8 from modifiers. Total is 28. 27 difference, or 9 Accuracy! Damage is 5,8,2, 13 rolled plus Strength 3 and Throwing Star 3 for a total of 19, plus Accuracy 9 for 28. Guy has 13 resistance, can't add Body because its a lethal attack! He takes 15 damage! He's on -3 Health. He'll live, but that will make a mark...

Stone Fist heard a strange 'whine' and looked past the guards... suddenly one cried out, scrabbling at the star embedded in his back! The other guard, with the Dog whirls!

Stone Fist takes the opportunity to pummel the guard!

OOC Roll of 16+CS9+Brawling 3+2 from blindside attack, total 30. Guard has 12+CS9, total 21 defence. Hit with 3 accuracy. Damage is 7+Strength 5 +Accuracy 3 + Knuckle duster 1, total 16. Bad guy gets roll of 4, plus body 3, total 7. He takes 9 damage...

With a CRACK! Stone Fist sends the guard reeling! The man staggers, then releases the dog on Stone Fist!

OOC Roll 10+CS6+Natural Ferocity 3 total 19 for dog. Roll 8 + CS9 for Stone Fists Defence. He's hit with 1 accuracy. Dog has Str 2 + Teeth 2 + 12, total 16. Stone Fist has Body 4 + Tough Skin 3 + roll of 6, total 13. He takes 3 damage from a mauling by the dog!

Jade Hood sees his friend engaged in battle with the Dog and the Guard and can't throw another star. Satisfied having pulled off a spectacular shot though, he turns his attention to the window.

Stone Fist pummels the guard and turns his attention to the dog...

OOC on the guard... Using 2 effort to hit, 2 for damage. 5,4, 3,1. Ugh. 9 rolled+CS9+brawling 3. Guard gets Double 8 (16)+11. Stone Fist misses, and is on 1/5 effort. (Running this whilst David M is away with computer bother). The dog and the guard attack him. Dog rolls 19+CS6+Ferocity 3 (28 total). Stone Fist gets 16+CS9, 25 total. He's hit again for 1 accuracy. 14 rolled + 5 for Damage vs 15 rolled plus 7 for resistance.

Stone Fist swings, but curses as the guard moves under the punch! The dog leaps at him, clamps jaws about his arm, but is tossed aside, the teeth barely leaving a mark! The guard attacks ...

OOC 14 rolled + CS9 + Brawling 3 (26 total). 13 rolled + CS9 for Stone Fist. Hit for 2 accuracy. 7 Rolled plus 3 Strength and 2 accuracy. 7 rolled for Stone Fist, plus 7 Resistance, no damage again!

Stone Fist grins as a punch lands in his face!

The guard frowns... then goes for his gun!

Jade Hood moved up to the side of the window...

He popped his head around the corner. There were half a dozen men in there, all well dressed, with money from the looks. Most were in the late thirties to fifties, but all were in terrific shape! They stood about in a casual group discussing things in their native german language. The room appeared to be a drawing room of sorts. Somewhere that a gentleman might while away an hour reading the paper. Clearly, this was some important midnight meeting, held by candlelight as it was with several shifty looking fellows!

Jade Hood narrowed his eyes. There wasn't an ounce of fat on any of these men. All looked in fine health, and only the lines on the faces of the older men betrayed any sign of ageing. There were grey streaks in the hair, but that was about it. What exactly was going on here?

OOC Burst in, or go check on Stone Fist and Mary? Mei Lin is somewhere below too. If a gun goes off, the place will light up like a christmas tree and things will get... complicated... Jade Hood is on 3/5 Energy, Stone Fist on 1/5 energy and has taken 3 damage.

As reluctant as he was to leave the window, Stone Fist was clearly coming off worse than Jade Hood had imagined. Seeking the best way down, he quickly hurried over to help his friend.

Don't know if there is a simple way to get down - shame haven't got glide ability like Batman, or a zip line. Anyway I'll aim to go bolster my friends efforts before the games up and we're all discovered.

As soon as its feesable I want to try and hit that second guard put him off shooting. I'll use effort points on accuracy, this time, as necessary to stop him firing if I don't get to him in time as I move toward them.

Let's try something new again to test the system. Go for the guard's gun hand, grab and squeeze. See if I can make him pass out from the pain of his bones grinding and keep him from pulling and using his gun.

OOC Stone Fist vs Goon + Dog. Initiative time... 15 for SF (plus CS9) 11 for goon+dog (so dog goes last, goon second, stone fist first)

Stone Fist reached out a hand to clamp across the goons hand, then to squeeze...

OOC Roll 8 +CS9+Brawling 3. Total 20. Goon gets 13+CS9 to avoid... and does so. He fires at Stone Fist! Roll 17+CS9+Weaponry 3=29 attack. Stone Fist tries to avoid with 14 (Double!) plus 10 + CS9.

Stone Fist lunged for the other man - who moved quickly aside! The other fellow pulled a handgun, thrust it at Stone Fist! He couldn't miss!

BANG! Impossibly Stone Fist moved to the side and the bullet kicked up a puff of dirt! Stone Fist didn't have time to curse though! The Dog came at him!

OOC Roll 15+ CS6+Ferocity 3 for the dog. Roll 17+CS9 for Stone Fist. Once more Stone Fist avoids the dogs attentions!

Stone Fist ducked aside as the dog leapt for his throat - and over him!

Behind the goon the lights started coming on in the house - not just those which had been off on the ground floor, but just about every other light on the upper floors too! It illuminated the garden, showing the near naked figure 'dancing' with the guard and the dog! It also showed Mei Lin sprinting back to the wall, and shouts rang out! The gig was up!

OOC Whatever was worth finding in here, you won't find unless you mow through plenty of guards, and possibly the police. You are but a reasonably moderate run and jump away from the street, over the wall and away, but your friends are still on the building side. Your call. Continue fighting, and face an increasing number of guards, or flee?

Hearing the gunshot go off, Jade Hood grit his teeth then started climbing down the vines! The light went on in the room above him and he hugged the wall as several of the men came out to look and see what was going on! By now lights were popping on all over the great house and the lawns/gardens were fairly well illuminated... Jade Hood made good use of the distraction to make his way down to Mary, then clamp a hand over her mouth and struggle down with her in his grasp. "That wasn't me!" she hissed.

Mei Lin was waiting in the shadows of the wall. "We don't have long. Your friend fights with the power of a raging rhinoceros, but he moves with the subtlety of a cow herd!" she muttered.

OOC Do you wish to stick to the walls - and the shadows - to get across the garden and to the wall surrounding it by using Stone Fists 'diversion' or do you intend to help him?

Going to buy time for the others to either get away or inside as everyone watches me. So Stone Fist stays and fights the guard and the dog but will run away and leap over the wall once more folks show up with the intention of fighting or shooting him. So go for the guard with the gun and try for a knock out blow.

OOC: Ugh glad I decided to check if there were updates, note emails again telling me the thread had been updated and nothing in my spam box either!

Jade Hood felt the game was up, any chance they had of sneaking inside, would only land them in deeper water, with the element of surprise gone. Using the wall, he indicated to Mei Lin that she must get Mary out of the grounds whilst Jade went to help Stone Fist. He knew he could still leap away, but a single stray bullet could be all it took. More guards would be coming he had to make sure his friend and partner knew his back was covered.

ok so whilst the ladies get away, please let them get away! I'll go help Stone Fist. I'll try and remain out of sight, the less they see of me, the more they'll think it was all Stone Fist alone.

Stone Fist ground his teeth. Glancing over to the bushes he saw where he'd stashed his clothes. Ah well, no time for those now! He saw past the Guards shoulder and noted there were other guards - half a dozen at first glance - pouring out of the building!

He also saw Mei Lin and Mary use the confusion to speed towards the wall, where the ninja unfurled her grapple and tossed it over with one smooth move. Less smooth was Marys squeal and wiggle when Mei Lin hoisted her over her shoulder like a sack of potatoes - and attracted two guards attention!

These were no ordinary goons. They were faster, smarter, more perceptive and great fighters. If there were elite soldier regiments in the army, these guys would be in it! No chatting, just hard, cold action!

So Stone Fist responded with his own!

Third die came up with a 6, so keep the original roll of 10 and 9. 27 total less 15 rolled + 3 Body (18 total). 9 damage to the bad guy. He's out!

The guard flew through the air to crash in bushes some 5m away! He wiggled for a moment, then slumped, out for the count!

Stone Fist turned and saw the dog about to leap at him... then a blur passed between him and the dog!

OOC Roll 14 (Double 7!) plus 11 plus CS11, Martial Arts 5 for Jade Hood, total 41 (!). The dogs defence is reduced by 1 for the blindside attack. Roll of 11 + CS6 -1 = 16 total. Ouch. 9 Accuracy! Damage is Strength 3 + 9 Accuracy + 6 rolled, total 18. Roll of 4 + Body 3 for the dog. 11 damage. Pow!

"YELP!" went the dog as it was knocked through the air and tumbled to the floor. It would live, but it wouldn't feel up to much for a while! Jade Hood landed in a crouch and saw two guards heading for where Mei Lin struggled with Mary. The pair could escape, but if they went to help Mary and Mei they would definitely have to battle two guards! Mei Lin could take care of herself, but Mary wasn't trained for this sort of thing!

More guards started to sprint from the house, making a dozen in total. This place had its own private army! And they had pistols... knives... samurai swords!

"We must help the ladies, Mei Lin will never get Mary away in time!"

But Jade knew that Stone Fist was an honourable man and would most likely, wish to help. Jade didn't, therefore wait for an answer before starting at a run to head off the men and give Mei Lin and Mary time to get away. He was hopeful that if things went from bad to worse, Stone Fist could still make one of his almighty leaps and have them both away. If only they could hold the men off long enough to get away. They could regroup and lick their wounds later.

OOC:
Ok put an effort point into improving speed or whatever to get to the men, before they get to the girls and then hit them with again effort points on accuracy. Want to stop them, then get away, rather than waste any more time for the defence to get us. All it would take is one well placed bullet and my crime fighting career might well be over.

Jade Hood poured on the speed, hoping to get there before the bad guys did! He sped across the grass lawns and even Stone Fist, leaping through the darkness clad only in his underpants, was impressed when JAde Hood arrived in front of him!

The goons were running up, guns drawn. This would be a brutal fight!

One of the guards opened fire... there was a flash, a cry, and Mei Lin went down!

Another aimed at Jade Hood, then fired! The bullet headed for him! (See mechanics section)

The last shot at the 'crazy' naked man - these guys weren't messing about! Again, the shot seemed on the money! (See mechanics section)

One goon fires at Mei Lin as she tries to get Mary over the wall, another at Jade Hood, another at Stone Fist

23 rolled (after double) + CS9 + Weaponry 3 -1 (range) and -2 (Darkness)= 32. Mei Lin uses an effort point to avoid (putting her on 1/5). 4,1,9. 9+4 used plus CS 12, total 25. She's shot! Accuracy is 3 plus 5 damage and roll 17. Body does not reduce wounds from gunfire... Mei Lins Resistance roll is 13. She takes 12 damage, and goes down!

On Jade Hood, 9 rolled + CS9 + Weaponry 3 -1 (range) and -2 (Darkness)=18. JH defends with 5 rolled plus CS11. That would be a hit with 1 accuracy... I'll dodge thanks and take my chances with trying to get them back next round.

Jade Hood desperately wanted to help Mei Lin, having Mary with them had dangerously compromised their abilities and now scuppered the whole mission. Now with Mei Lin down, how would they get out of this deadly situation. No doubt if they were captured, they'd be tortured and killed. Jade Hood wasn't about to let that happen, if he could help it.

Stone Fist won't dodge and then find out he is not bulletproof.

Going to attack the next guard, grabbing him and using him as a human club against the other guards.

Stone Fist swings, but the guard bats aside his blow with contempt! In the distance Stone Fist can see the other guards running towards them! Now engaged in melee, the guards the pair face cannot use their guns with any accuracy, but one fires at Jade Hood... who dances aside!

Stone Fist swings at a guard... Roll 11 + CS9 + Brawling 3 (total 23) vs 11 rolled plus CS9 (total 20). Hit 1 accuracy. Damage is 9 rolled + 1 accuracy + 5 strength + 1 hard skin = 16 vs 14 (double!) plus 12 + body 3 (29 total). No damage!

Initiative 13 for guards (+CS9)=22. Rolled 23+CS11 for Jade Hood (34) and 3+ CS9 for Stone Fist (12). Jade Hood goes first. You have one round then the newcomers will be within firing range. Mei Lin is down, Mary is struggling to climb the rope to get over the wall. You face 3 guards. It's not looking good! Jade Hood attacks, then the 3 guards get stuck in.

Hesitant for but a moment, Jade knew Stone Fist was more resilient than he, he could stand off and that would give him the chance he needed to get Mei Lin and Mary free. Nodding, he wasted no time with ideal words. He didn't want these guards to know any more about them than that which they could glean. So he rushed over, putting a supreme effort into scooping the fallen warrior up before jumping for the rope to get away.

Oh boy this is gone from bad to awful, guards we can't beat and get beaten by! Jeepers!

Anyway I will use an effort point as necessary to do some top human athletics and try and get out of their in one piece with Mei Lin!

Once over the other side of the wall, I intend to try and keep a eye on things so I can be sure Stone Fist gets away. But far enough away that when he is free, I will go in a different route to somewhere, like a hospital where we can get Mei Lin the attention she needs.
