OOC Lionheart is up then Miss Victory...
OOC: The split is fine so long as we can make sure we maintain the focus on the president. I hope this won't mean we all get beaten here...man that would complicate things.
Lionheart was momentarily stunned as two of the Earth's mightiest heroes were affectively trounced by this being. He and Miss Victory, if they had any leverage to gain here, had to work together.
Since physical attacks were likely to be matched blow for blow, Lionheart leapt figuratively at the man with his mind. Unleashing his mind blast to what he hoped would be a devastating effect to give Miss V a chance to round one in on him.
OOC: Devastating attack with Mindblast, and seeing if we can pour it all on. Dave if you come up with a better plan, I'm happy to revise this with your post, depends on what you think would otherwise work team wise.

ooc: Team attack to give us a better chance to hit! Only idea that comes to mind. Actually, I wanted all 4 of us to team attack but since the legends are down it's just the two of us.
Miss Victory, preparing for a team attack, puts 19 points into Mental Blast and the remaining 4 into Dex.
"You can't stop us all, villain," she yells out.

Re: The Ultrahumans! Issue #2 Starring Miss Victory and Lionheart! "World under siege!"
OOC Highly unlikely to hit with Dev Attack on Mind Blast but you do have Accuracy (4D) to throw into it leaving 1D for defence. Superspeed boosted to 18, Telepathy at 16 to maintain contact. Here we go.
Dev Attack Mind Blast 15 + 4D Accuracy + Roll(6d12)+0: 8,4,4,3,7,7,+0 Total:14 DOUBLE (good start) plus Roll(2d12)+0: 3,9,+0 Total:26 (41) vs
OV11 + Range 2 - team attack 2 + Dev Attack 8 + Roll(2d12)+0: 9,5,+0 Total:14 (33) Well, whaddya know...
+4 (to 19EV) vs RV20 - 12 Dev Attack (RV8)=11 RAPs
Omega Man is on Mind 9/20
"unnnngh." grunts the ultra powerful bad guy.
He turns to see where the attack originated from and scowls. "I don't know you. HER I know, and you won't beat me this time woman! I'll put you in the hospital... or the morgue... like the rest of your second string band!"
Miss Victory knows she has to get some luck in this attack. The man is faster than anyone she'd ever faced and his reactions defied description, even making her - or Lionheart - seem sluggish.
OOC Mental Blast 23 + Accuracy 4D (0D defence) + Roll(6d12)+0: 1,11,7,11,10,6,+0 Total:22 DOUBLE plus Roll(2d12)+0: 5,9,+0 Total:36 (59) vs
OV27 + Range 2 + 1D Acro (2D M Arts) + Roll(3d12)+0: 7,5,10,+0 Total:17 (46)
+5 (to 28) vs RV28=No damage
"huh. That it? That all you got?" laughs Omega Man. "You... mentalist... I think you deserve my attention next."
The arrogance of the man was staggering but justified. He was on a level far higher than most opponents Lionheart had ever faced. For Miss Victory, her initial foray into the world of the Ultrahumans had been a trial by fire of the most challenging kind. First outside the prison, then that gruelling slog through it only to fail with the prison occupants spilling out into the world... Her power wasn't in doubt. Neither was that of the people they faced. The brutal stand toe to toe hammering of the White House battle then THIS man turning up again...
OOC make or break time.
Omega Man WILL win initiative. Lionheart has a chance (slim) of beating him to the punch if he throws all his power reserve into his superspeed but that will sever the mental link with the President.
David M, if you like at the end of this (current) round you can swap points round as an automatic action before initiative takes place. At the moment with 14 Dex Miss V is a sitting Duck (and 7 Body).
Dave E Lionheart has 18 Superspeed (18 Dex) and 39 Initiative with 16 Telepathy keeping the Prez in touch. Omega Man has 64 initiative and if Lionheart throws everything into superspeed he has 61 initiative, then a D12 is rolled for each. I suspect if Omega Man goes first the pair of you will go down, or at least get a battering. LH has 86HP to soak damage up, Miss V has 3.
Your call gents then initiative...

OOC: The impossible dilemma if I let go of Madam President we lose our link and her. If I keep the link but don't pour in the points we could lose anyway, so big deal. It's one of those damned either way scenarios, I see. Sorry Dave, I tried hard to stay with the president, but if I don't win this, we're both going for a big sleep, maybe permanently...so I see no other feasible choice. I will state my actions, but again since we are being a team if you suggest something that is too good to ignore then we might well go with that.
Lionheart's mind didn't need to be crunching different scenarios, data and circumstantial evidence to see six ways to Sunday, they were flat beat if he didn't pour all he had into beating this brash loudmouth. More than that a loudmouth, with a tyrannical ego but powers to match. What good did it serve if he held back but it all cost them anyway. With a silent thought to the Ultahumans, he released Madam President and put his efforts into his speed, so that he could again try to catch Omega flat-footed long enough to Mind Blast him again. Knowing full well he caught him last time didn't mean he could repeat it, but he was more than a match for Lionheart physically, and even with his best, he wasn't sure that they were going to get out of this in one piece.
"Here goes everything," he thought to himself.
OOC: OK so pour into speed to get the upper hand (possibly) and Mindblast as before. Unless going with Martial Arts and speed is more effective.

Re: The Ultrahumans! Issue #2 Starring Miss Victory and Lionheart! "World under siege!"
OOC: Only thing I can think of, if the rules allow, is for Miss Victory purposely stepping in front of the attack on Lionheart and taking it for him. She would raise her Body to her max of 23 to absorb the blow, the remainder into Dex. That way Lionheart can brain blast him next round. Miss Victory just gave out her most devastating attack with Double 11s and failed to scratch the guy. So Lionheart is the only one able to take him down. This is the only team action I can think of that has a chance and might still allow the link with the President.
You might want to put some of your few HP into the attack too.

Re: The Ultrahumans! Issue #2 Starring Miss Victory and Lionheart! "World under siege!"
OOC Initiative ...
Switching to super speed Lionheart felt almost a physical wrench as he knew he would lose contact with the President... and so he turned his attention to the ultra powerful villain in orange jumpsuit in front of him, needing to end this quick with a decisive mind blast!
Swooping up to within physical striking distance to give him the best chance of success, Lionheart hoped his mind powered 'Lion' would roar very loudly indeed...
OOC Devastating Attack Mind Blast 15 + Accuracy 4D (1D Acrobatics) + Roll(6d12)+0: 8,9,9,11,9,4,+0 Total:18 DOUBLE plus Roll(2d12)+0: 9,4,+0 Total:31 (46) vs
Omega Man spends 13HP (7HP REMAINING) on two dice to avoid the Mind Blast
OV11 + 2D from HP +Dev Attack 8 + Roll(4d12)+0: 11,12,2,12,+0 Total:24 DOUBLE plus Roll(2d12)+0: 6,10,+0 Total:40 (59) Missed (by a lot)
"Fool me once, fast man... well, I'll put it down to experience!" hissed Omega Man. "Fool me twice?"
"Not gonna happen!" as he delivers multiple jarring super fast/hard punches!
OOC CRIT BLOW AV27 + 3D M Arts + Roll(5d12)+0: 1,7,7,5,8,+0 Total:14 DOUBLE plus Roll(2d12)+0: 10,7,+0 Total:31 (58) vs
Lionheart OV26 + 1D Acro + Crit Blow 4 + Roll(3d12)+0: 4,10,1,+0 Total:14 (44)
+5 (to 35) vs RV22 - Crit Blow 6 (RV16)=19 RAPs.
To stay conscious Lionheart would have to spend a colossal 63HP (of his current 89HP) and it's simply not worth it. You can pay for a desperation recovery next round (15HP) but assuming you recover you will be stunned and unable to attack for the round you get up and the round after (because you would have been stunned had you absorbed the damage and shouldn't get an advantage by what is essentially gaming the system through a loophole. In fact I'm minded to think that ANYONE who gets up after being KO'd will be stunned for the round they get up and the round after. I know after being knocked out myself (years ago) I didn't know where I was for a few seconds after opening my eyes. Unless that's just me). So I would suggest Lionheart is DOWN and OUT and wake up groggy next round. Unless you are desperate to stay on 1HP and being stunned anyway...
THWACK!
Lionheart flies through the sky and SMACKS hard into the floor, tumbling and bouncing end over end before crashing into a parked car which crumples like it's made of tin foil.
"Just you and me now woman." hissed Omega Man. "What have you got?" he asks, rolling his neck and popping his knuckles.
OOC Miss Victory is up. Gulp.

19 pts into mental blast to make it 23, and pray accuracy helps a lot. the remaining 4 points into Dex, not that it will help much I don't think.
Miss Victory doesn't say anything but grimaces as she focuses her newly grown mental blast into a physical force to blast and hopefully knock the villain as far away as possible. [totally doubtful but what can you do, eh?]

OOC: OH that is so annoying but in the end what else could have happened had I have stayed with the president the link would be severed now anyway. I should have thrown in HP to the attack, I was out all day today so couldn't come back on Dave's suggestion till now. Oh well, to be honest, if these guys have any smarts, they should kill us and have done. Unless they have smarts we don't know and want to use us in some way. But this does seem like "game over!" That is unless Miss V can pull something out of the dice bag totally unexpected.

Re: The Ultrahumans! Issue #2 Starring Miss Victory and Lionheart! "World under siege!"
OOC Hero Points wouldn't have helped. You'd have had to spend 40HP for a single extra die (51HP total for two extra dice) and whilst that MIGHT have made a difference the cost/benefit doesn't add up. Hero Points into defence might have helped but to be fair I didn't see that suggestion!
I'm always willing to give the players the benefit of the doubt though so I will give you this chance to retrospectively spend Hero Points on your attack or defence for the last sequence (Lionheart missed, got walloped) as play by post needs difference rules to face to face games.
Your call but I'd advise against blowing so many HP on the attack. It's too expensive but the option if you want to take it is there.
The red cross is the starting point for costs on your attack.
The blue cross is the starting point for costs on your defence.

OOC: I should have said I don't like do-overs, esp as I can metagame and use things I wouldn't know. If I had some sort of always-on precog thing fine. But that isn't the case here, so I will take what the dice give me. Thanks, all the same Paul.

Re: The Ultrahumans! Issue #2 Starring Miss Victory and Lionheart! "World under siege!"
OOC Back to it. I'm putting it off for a bit to have a think but need to give the solicitors a message to tell them I'm pulling out of the sale.
Till then...
Miss Victory saw Captain Marvel staggering about drunkenly (OOC he's active next round with the stun wearing off) and both Superman and Lionheart out for the count.
Once more it was on her to finish off this ultra powerful enemy!
OOC No mention of Crit Blow or Devastating attack so...
Mental Blast 23 + 4D Accuracy + Roll(6d12)+0: 12,6,3,2,9,11,+0 Total:23 (46) vs
OV27 + Range 2 + Roll(2d12)+0: 5,12,+0 Total:17 (44)
Hit +2 (to 25) vs RV28=No damage.
Omega Man, despite his staggering - too hard to see - reflexes is struck with a blast on the chest from Miss Victory and... smiles. "You won't catch me by surprise this time woman!" he laughs. "Time to go to sleep."
OOC Initiative goes to Omega Man but you can switch your points around David M. Dex or (probably more advisable) Body for Miss V. Omega Man is going to attack both Captain Marvel and Miss Victory with a multi attack and put you both down.

Re: The Ultrahumans! Issue #2 Starring Miss Victory and Lionheart! "World under siege!"
OOC There was method in my madness about staying up till 0600 this morning. Going to work in an hour. Less sense in drinking myself into a stupor, mind! Back to looking for a house this weekend. The process has been stressful in a way I hadn't expected. I'd convinced myself that the house was 'fixable' if money was thrown at it but whilst works were going on (however long that took) I'd be paying a mortgage, paying rent, paying a house improvement loan on top of the normal child maintenance and bills. Sums didn't add up. Finally had to admit to myself that I was wrong to buy it, and that's a hard thing to do after I'd been waiting five years for this point (buying a house). Sorry for the delay guys, hopefully I can be back up to speed tonight/tomorrow. The house hunting thing has taken a back seat until Sunday. Not even going to look.
Back to the game...
Omega Man is going to multi attack on two with a critical blow...
AV27 + 3D M Arts (0D Acrobatics) + Roll(5d12)+0: 3,8,3,9,11,+0 Total:6 DOUBLE plus Roll(2d12)+0: 12,8,+0 Total:26 (53) vs
Highest OV (Cap Marvel) 19 + Multi 2 + Crit Blow 4 +2D Acrobatics (Miss V, attack 2D) + Roll(4d12)+0: 9,7,9,7,+0 Total:18 DOUBLE plus Roll(2d12)+0: 10,8,+0 Total:36 (61)
Attack Missed.
A blur of motion, falling away desperately and with their own astonishing reflexes saving them, Captain Marvel and Miss Victory avoided the unbelievable blurring attack with their own amazing reflexes and more than a little luck!
OOC Lionheart recovers by spending 15HP for a desperation recover but is STUNNED this round and cannot attack.
Body 13 + Roll(2d12)+0: 3,9,+0 Total:12 (25) vs
OV0 + Roll(2d12)+0: 6,8,+0 Total:14 (14)
+5 (to 18) vs RV0=18 RAPs. Lionheart is on FULL BODY (13) and STUNNED this round. He is on 71HP
Captain Marvel whirled to Miss Victory. "Get Lionheart and Superman out of here! I'll slow this idiot down! I hope..."
Omega Man laughed. "Bring what you have. It will not be enough."
Captain Marvel scowled but leapt to the attack anyway!
It was clear that heroes like Captain Marvel and Superman had always relied on their lightning reflexes and beyond human speed in fights. Omega Man's ability included all that speed (and more!) and training or natural skill that made him harder to hit and a Master Martial Artist!
OOC Crit Blow AV19 + 1D HP (30HP remaining for Cap Marvel) +Roll(3d12)+0: 7,12,2,+0 Total:19 (38) vs
OV27 + Crit Blow 4 + Roll(2d12)+0: 7,2,+0 Total:9 (40) Attack Missed
"Too slow old man!" hissed Omega Man. He glanced at Miss Victory whilst he was avoiding the blurring fists of Captain Marvel. "I haven't forgotten about you woman!" he barked.
OOC Miss Victory is up next. Note if you wanted to do a team attack on Omega Man with Captain Marvel I will rejig the attack above (and count a team attack in Miss V's own attack).
Back to the game...

Note if you wanted to do a team attack on Omega Man with Captain Marvel I will rejig the attack above (and count a team attack in Miss V's own attack).

ooc: Team attacks may be the best way to try and bring the guy down. Would team attack bonus offset the crit attack minus? If so, Miss V would go for that. Mental Blast to 23 and the rest to Dex. Yay accuracy. Or would martial arts with Str 23 and the rest Dex be a better chance at hitting? Whichever Miss V thinks would give her the best chance of doing damage to him [int roll?] that's what she will do in a team attack.

OOC Rejigged team attack for Captain Marvel...
Crit Blow AV19 + 1D HP (30HP remaining for Cap Marvel) +Roll(3d12)+0: 7,12,2,+0 Total:19 (38) vs
OV27 + Crit Blow 4 - Team attack 2 + Roll(2d12)+0: 7,2,+0 Total:9 (38) Attack Hit...
EV29 vs RV28 - 6 Crit Blow (RV22)=7 RAPs.
Omega Man is on Body 21/28
Miss Victory uses the opportunity to blast at the same time at the villain, hoping to catch him at the same time as Captain Marvel does!
OOC To have any chance of damaging him you need to roll a lot more than O Man... or a Crit Blow. I would say go for Crit Blow (even though that makes things hard). Far more accurate with Mental Blast than she is with Martial Artist...
Crit Blow Team Attack AV23 + 4D Accuracy + Roll(6d12)+0: 10,8,3,8,7,4,+0 Total:16 DOUBLE plus Roll(2d12)+0:

Omega Man is on Body 18/28
"Do you think that... OOOFFF!" says Omega Man as Captain Marvel delivers a jarring strike to his jaw! "Nice punch old man but... unh! WOMAN!" he roars. "I remember your trickery and you shall PAY for the slight you inflicted on me with those buffoons who call themselves Ultrahumans!"
OOC initiative...
Lionheart looks up. His face is rapidly healing, the bruises discolouring before vanishing in heartbeats. He was up again, but knew that he faced someone faster, stronger and tougher than he was. Since arriving in America this was not unusual but for a single opponent to flatten Superman, Captain Marvel and batter Lionheart himself with Miss Victory apparently being toyed with? A single opponent?
He saw Miss Victory and Captain Marvel combined to shake the villain. He could act now, or could hope that Omega Man didn't take out the already dazed Captain Marvel and valiant Miss Victory to strike at the same time as they did.
Maybe not the best idea.

Since trying to snatch victory from the jaws of defeat was all they were scrabbling around to do, Lionheart didn't see any point in trying to push his luck. He knew that he was outmatched in speed and reactions, but not in mind. Calling on those powers now, he sought to blast again in the one place Omega man seemed to be weakest.
OOC: Devastating attack with Mindblast. Let's hope I give Miss V and Shazam the opening they need. This is really down to the wire, I thought we were lights out around back or so. I completely forgot about my regen abilities. So seldom get laid out so squarely as the narrative said, since coming to the status it's like pulling on my big boy pants and going up from the little league.

Omega Man must spend 6HP to absorb 3 damage and is STUNNED and on Mind 1/20! Omega Man is on 14HP
Lionheart raised himself from the floor and unleashed his most powerful mental attack at the villain!
A flare of energy in the shape of a lion seemed to leap at the powerful metahuman and he thrashed about trying to avoid it before reeling back and staggering around! "What have... you DARE?!?!" he roared, trying to clear his head!
Omega Man takes to the air, straight up!
There is a crack and a BOOOM! as he ignores the sound barrier and environmental effects and shoots upwards becoming a dot in the sky!
OOC Space is 'only' 60 miles up and Omega Man flies at 18APs so is currently in orbit, some 473 miles up in the void of space!
He cannot attack (dice action) this round or use any skills to attack/defend or anything else so running is his only option. However he will recover rapidly so...?
Captain Marvel frowns. "I can EASILY catch him up but I can't seem to lay a hand on him! Do we try to take up the trail of the President or finish HIM off? If we can."

OOC: Phew! What a relief at least for now.
Lionheart began to heal and with that began to feel stronger again. He'd certainly taken a pounding.
"If we don't finish him off he'll be back. But can you get to Him? He might be in space, I can follow, but I'd appreciate the assist if I fail. I think we should press the attack."

Re: The Ultrahumans! Issue #2 Starring Miss Victory and Lionheart! "World under siege!"
"I can survive about 16 minutes in space," Miss Victory tells Captain Marvel. "If you fly us up there and we combine attacks maybe we can take him down or at least bring him down back to Earth so Lionheart can finish him!"
ooc: Can't remember if she knows Lionheart can fly and survive in space or not. Not sure if she has seen all his powers or not. I know he is strong and has a forcefield and some mental powers and now I know he has regeneration. But as to the rest ... not sure and its late and I'm tired. Off to bed.
Either way, the two of us can go up to engage him while Lionheart follows the next round.

Re: The Ultrahumans! Issue #2 Starring Miss Victory and Lionheart! "World under siege!"
Captain Marvel nods. "Pardon hands ma'am." as he slips a hand around the mighty maidens' waist!
"Hold on!" he says to Lionheart with a hand out. The British hero takes it and the trio head up into the sky... a few hundred yards up the speed increases and a BOOOM! announces the advent of hypersonic speed as they crack upwards towards space at a terrific pace!
The sky darkens and blue gives way to black as the trio burst from the atmosphere and Lionheart confirms with his telescopic vision "There!" inside the minds of the other two as he points out the fleeing and stunned villain. Miss Victory marvelled at the scale of the power she was not only up against but allied with. Superman might have been dropped but Captain Marvel was no pushover and Lionheart seemed to have a vast array of physical and mental powers he could call on!
Freed from the confines of atmosphere the trio sped up to the Captain's top speed, about 2000 miles per second! Easily enough to catch up with the villain who glanced behind...
Lionheart saw him gape and knew he would make his own effort to escape... or worse. If he were to get to the Ultrahumans now captured space station, there would be little chance of catching him - Lionheart himself had barely escaped!
OOC initiative...
Uh oh.
Despite being stunned and unable to use dice actions Omega Man can use his power reserve on his flight, boosting it from 18 to 28!
All of a sudden the villain speeds away, and Lionheart can only watch him receding!
"This is as fast as I can fly!" exclaims Captain Marvel. The other two hear it somehow despite being in the vacuum of space, doubtless because of the Captain's magical nature!
Lionheart sees the shrinking dot that is Omega Man and wonders even if his own speed can match the villain!
OOC A look at the character sheet should confirm yes or no on that. Flight is 14, power reserve is 15 so...
Lionheart says 'Hold on!' inside the minds of the heroes and 'takes over'.
The moon flashes past and the deep cold black void of space looms about them, nigh on a quarter million miles from the Earth! The Ultrahumans satellite, high above America, is left behind and the dot that is Omega Man zooms into view!
OOC there are problems with fighting in space, lack of gravity for one! Omega Man cannot fight this round (fine next round) so Lionheart, CM, Miss V are up...

OOC: Phew thought he would escape us. Tricky little devil...
Lionheart didn't need to be told twice when he saw an opening on the surprised Omega Man, he took it. Once again falling back to what he hoped would be decisive, mindful of Miss Victories, limited capacity to endure the vacuum.
OOC: Mindblast all in, in terms of Dev Attack to overwhelm and incapacity this fella, and get him back to earth post-haste, before we loose any more ground on recovering the President.

Team Attack Him! Dogpile on the bad guy! Hit him from every direction we can at the same time," Miss Victory yells out, preparing her Mental Blast at full with remaining points into Dex, crit hit since this is a team attack. Not confident I could hit him with Devastating Attack unless stunned gives him more minuses - if it does, change to Devastating Attack, if not, stick with Crit.

Re: The Ultrahumans! Issue #2 Starring Miss Victory and Lionheart! "World under siege!"
Lionheart 'heard' Miss Victory in his mind and waited for the other two to strike at the same time - two physical (Miss V's brain blast has a physical effect, Captain Marvel has his fists) and one mental attack!
OOC All attacks happen at the same time but I'll resolve in Dex order so LH, CM, Miss V.
LH
Dev Attack Mind Blast 15 + 4D Accuracy + Roll(6d12)+0: 9,9,5,7,6,4,+0 Total:18 DOUBLE plus Roll(2d12)+0:

Hit +5 (to 20EV) vs RV20 - Dev Attack 12 (RV8)=12 RAPs.
Already on his 'last legs' with a fried brain Omega Man doesn't have enough Mind left or HP stashed (he'd need 78HP to stay on his feet) to absorb the damage. Omega Man is DOWN and OUT!
Captain Marvel THWACKS the man on his chin and Miss Victory holds back - no use in pummelling someone already down. Despite his powerful punch CM sees his best efforts barely register on the powerful megavillain who starts tumbling away into space!
Lionheart scoops him up telekinetically and takes the trio back to the Earth at high speed. They slowed when entering the atmosphere and their speed seemed glacial in comparison as they touched down a minute or so later with respect to atmospheric conditions and sonic boom effects.
"He's down. Finally." said Captain Marvel. "The problem is with someone like that, how do we keep him down? Or restrain him? He's faster than the Flash, Stronger than me or Superman, as capable a fighter as Wonder Woman and tougher than any villain I ever faced."
Miss Victory looked at the older man. Despite his power there was a childlike innocence and naivety about him. It seemed he was oblivious to the fact that the Ultrahumans would normally be more than a match for the likes of Omega Man. Unfortunately these were NOT normal times with the biggest hitters trying to help Silver Sentinel and the others literally fighting fires - and mega powerful bad guys - across the entirety of the United States. Doubtless New York, Los Angeles, Las Vegas and other places would be 'under siege' right now.
As they considered their next move a 'wooosh' of wind indicated someone incoming but Lionheart didn't detect any danger. Miss V and Cap Marvel stood ready nonetheless as a black man in tight fitting dark red costume and domino mask sped up.
"Ohthankgoodnessthere'ssomeoneelsehelpingouthere!" he said at super speed, though Lionheart could understand him without issue.
The man took a deep breath, glanced at Omega Man then slowed his words "I'm Fastback, one of the Washington Super Stars. Local heroes. Are you guys part of the Ultrahumans? We got a situation! Reports of orange suited guys like THAT guy are coming in with them attacking prisons and police stations! The National Guard has been mobilised but we're talking HEAVY hitters! We need help! We're not mega powerful but we're doing our best! I was sent to find help as all the communications seem to be down!" He looked about. "Damn.
