Conway scowled and turned to the scientist. "Dis true? All this that he says?"

Schmidt looked nervously about then hissed "yes! Please... I'm taking a terrible risk! My family! You must save them!"

A couple of truckers from another table glanced over then got back to shovelling greasy food into their mouths.

"Harrumph. Well, I can keep an eye on ya... but dis sounds kinda above my pay grade." says the Detective. "And let me tell you pal..." he says to Captain Conduit. "Your 'other clothes' might be fancy pyjamas but don't forget what happened to that other guy who thought fancy threads and good intentions could take on the mob. We ain't just got one mob in this town and..." he looked up at the two truckers, one of whom seemed to be listening in. "Yeah? You got somethin ta say?"

One trucker got up and Conway grinned, pulling aside his coat to reveal his badge... and his gun. The trucker scowled and threw down his napkin before his buddy joined him, stuffing a piece of bread in his mouth as he left.

"Ears everywhere we go. Nowhere is safe these days." muttered Conway. He stood. "Alright. I'll take him. You need to..."

BANG!

There was a loud crash from the back of the diner!

"Time to go to work," Lightning Bullet murmured as he shrunk down to his 3' size. Opening the door away from the vehicles pulling in, he scooted out of the car, flew low to the corner of the diner and then took to the air, flying high and then diving down towards the gathering vehicles.

"Let's see what's in the truck first," he monologued to himself, flying to the rear of the truck and getting ready to flash anyone inside the back part.

ooc: Wasn't sure when you said "truck" if you meant pick-up truck, canvas-topped truck like in the military or some kind of delivery truck like a milk truck. I made the assumption of a canvas topped truck. But this many vehicles, Flash Attack is his goto.

All of the patrons in the diner had turned to the sound of the bang, including the chef who was berating a waitress for not showing enough cleavage and therefore not getting a bigger tip!

"What the hell..." growled the Chef. He scooped up a carving knife from behind the counter and marched towards a door that led into the back of the diner and the kitchen.

Conway glanced at Captain Conduit "Don't like the sound o that, kid. Make sure this guy stays put an' I'll check it..."

RATATATATATATA

Bullets sprayed through the diner from the kitchen area as the Chef squealed, ducking to the floor and the waitress screamed as the tray she was holding was smashed from her hands!

"NOBODY MOVE!" roared a voice from the kitchen area as footsteps and sounds of chefs being clouted with gun butts rang out!

AT THE SAME TIME...

"Uh hello? I'm looking for directions and ..." said the family man stepping into the diner and he stopped in his tracks. "Cough." he spluttered quietly and looked at the spreading red stain on his shirt...

Lightning Bullet changed into his small form and swooped out of the window, up, up, and looking down.

The truck was one of the box type with a pair of doors at the back. Someone from a car moved round to bang on the side and the doors opened... with armed suited goons getting out!

There were... more than a few... a dozen? More? More still got out of the cars and Lightning Bullet prepared his flash power to blind them all and then go from there...

Until he heard a whistling sound, from afar but getting louder. It sounded cartoon-ish, like a bomb dropping...

OOC Captain Conduit is in the diner with Schmidt and Conway. He's still in disguise but not in costume. There are about a dozen patrons plus waiting staff and the chef (who hit the deck).

The hapless family guy wanting directions entered the diner and was shot from a stray bullet in the chest. It doesn't look good for him.

Lightning Bullet can see a small army of men spilling out. They are using tommy guns and pistols from the looks of it, though some also back baseball bats and long ex military knives much like machetes. They are pouring towards the front of the diner.

The whistling sound that Lightning Bullet can hear is getting louder and a glance about shows two red dots coming in from the sky!!!

As for the diner's electrics, Captain Conduit reckons he can blow the fuses (and the lights, jukebox, fridge/freezer etc) with just a spark to any nearby socket, like the one the Kettle is plugged into. Health and safety conscious this place is not!

Captain Conduit first causes a distraction by diving for the nearest outlet and overloading it. He then gives an order to Schmidt and Conway, "Evacuate!" before rushing toward the kitchen doors to try to shut them and put a table in their path if possible. He hopes his makeup will be enough of a disguise and the power outage will be enough of a distraction to prevent him from meeting the same end as the poor guy at the front entrance.

Bullets zing everywhere, the diner front churned up and sliced into fragments as the goons let rip and blasted at the diminutive tormentor! Bricks powdered, glass shattered, wood exploded, the world fell silent against the destructive roar of ten machine guns letting loose and tearing the building to shred as Lightning Bullet danced and flitted between the blaze of furious munitions that fell short of striking him, sometimes by a little and most often by a lot!

Smoke and smells fill the air and the goons track the tiny hero ready to unload another volley!

Captain Conduit dived for a power socket and bellowed his order to Conway and Schmidt...

With a zap from his hand the electrics of the diner didn't just trip... they EXPLODED!

The jukebox, the oven, fridge, freezer even the hoover in the corner and the radio... anything plugged in suddenly went BANG and everyone dived for cover...

Just as the front of the diner exploded inwards with fury and venom as hundreds of rounds from tommy guns smashed the place to smithereens!

Captain Conduit was on the floor as glass sprayed inwards and wooden tables were chopped into matchsticks and glanced about. The patrons of the diner were on the floor and head down for dear life, including the cop and the Scientist!

If Captain Conduit got up he'd be in the line of fire... he was tough but was he bulletproof?

The back wall was chopped into lumps and the place was beyond fixing as water sprayed from slashed pipes and there was a hiss of gas...

OOC No sound now from the back where there had been shots before and it sounds like someone outside is ready to let rip again...

"uhhh..." said the family man, slumped on the floor and face down.

Captain Conduit winced.

It was amazing there was only one casualty - so far...

ooc: Cheeze Und Krackers! That's a lot of goons! Since ten of them can still see, stick around and blast them with Flash again. Can't wait for when we get XP so I can get accuracy with my Lightning Touch. That would make attacking five of them at a time [which if I read the rules right for shrinking and movement and multi-attack is the current max I can attack so much easier.

Like a bomb going off at ground zero something dropped from the sky and completely flattened a car! Not just that, the lot was caved in like a crater and machine gun toting goons flew in all directions!

As the smoke started to clear there was another WHUMP! this time on the grassy area as an identically dressed man albeit with slightly different (still athletic) build rose from the dust and strode from cloud that had risen up...

"EEEEEEEEEEEEE!!" the scream from the woman in the car who'd recovered her senses enough to let out a shrill piercing scream was matched a moment later by two previously sleeping children who wailed and cried at the same time. The car was parked in front of the diner and already riddled with bullets... now there were armed goons on one side and two costumed newcomers on the other and with the car in the middle!

With bullets still zipping about and punching holes in tables and throwing plate fragments all over, CC moved over to the downed guy and hissed back at Conway and Schmidt.

"I... I know CPR..." wailed Schmidt, hands over his head and curled up in a ball.

"Kid, you're gonna get your ass shot off out there!" hissed Conway. "Were you followed? This stinks like a ... like a setup..." he said, voice trailing off. A setup, like his conversation might have been tapped or reported at least and HE might have been followed...

"Dirty cops... I HATE dirty cops..." growled the former US Marine sergeant.

"Put pressure on the wound kid." he growled at Captain Conduit.

"EVERYONE IN THE DINER STAY DOWN! THIS IS THE POLICE! YOU GOONS BETTER DROP YA WEAPONS AND HAND YOURSELVES..." shouted the Detective...

More gunfire rang out and started carving up the tables and chairs!

Captain Conduit moved over to the bystander. He was in a bad way and there was no doubt he'd bleed out on the floor if left here. He had to be taken to a hospital, now! However with all those bullets flying around and...

The place looking like a war zone with craters, smoke and smashed cars everywhere! Screaming innocent bystanders in the car out the front of the diner - a woman and her children! Goons in the back of the restaurant still firing blindly and sporadically from the back room into the dining area!

More exclamation marks than you can shake a stick at!!!

He zooms up to about 20' away from the Commie Hero [or are both of them near each other? Both if they are in range but 20' from the closest one]

"I'll hold the wounds and keep the blood in, Conway, but if you can call in an ambulance this guy needs to get to a hospital stat! And I see the cavalry's arrived, maybe, unless Schmidt's former employers are dressing their supers up in the Russian flag." Captain Conduit may not be on the scene to get some press, but at least he can ensure that one family considers a certain mysterious professor-looking person a hero. And today, he's going to take it. "Talk me through this CPR stuff Schmidt. We're going to save a life!"

If using electricity to restart his heart or cauterizing a wound will help, Fred Aster does so. Everyone else in the diner is probably too busy to notice little zaps of electricity coming from the helpful science-guy's hands.

The simple act of applying pressure to the wounds seemed to be helping but the man would need surgery.

Cauterising the wound might be an option but there was no way to tell if the bullet was still inside without a clear space to work in, and with bullets still zinging about...

Conway slid to the side of the kneel Captain Conduit/Disguised Professor type and hissed "You blew da phones up when you zapped everythin' kid! I suggest you get out there an' help out against those new capes dat turned up otherwise ... " He glanced back at Schmidt "I guess they's after dat Scientist type hidin under the table, and dat if they get him it won't be a good ting!"

"Dammit." hissed the former soldier. "Thought I'd left this kinda thing behind in the Phillipines in 44..." he yanks his tie off and wraps it around the leg of the stricken man, tying off where one of the bullets had gone in. The chest was another matter but here Conway muttered "Seen people live with worse. Gotta get this guy to a hospital, pronto!"

LIGHTNING BULLET IS ON BODY 5/6!

Despite having struck his foe with a lightning fast hand that cut cut through brick, the Russian is somewhat surprised that it was so hard to strike his foe and when he did, the effect wasn't that of his target being sliced in half!

The other man on the floor called up, and Lightning Bullet saw the ground around him had cracked and splintered, as if he weighed a great weight, many tons!

OOC Inside the diner Captain Conduit can see battle has been joined and acts next. Though he is twenty to thirty feet away he can attack the two newcomers. There are also armed goons watching all this go on, goons in the back of the diner and in the middle, the patrons and staff of the diner as well as this unfortunate who is bleeding out! Outside the diner in a car peppered by bullets in the wife and children of the man who lies dying on the diner floor.

Most of the cars the gunman are near are empty...but he bets their gas tanks aren't. In order to take out a whole bunch of gunmen at once, he aims for a gas tank away from any innocent civilians, like the dying guy's family, and fires a lighting bolt at a gas guzzler's tank, so it'll explode. He then ducks back behind cover, hoping no one saw what happened. Their attention should be on the gaudy red-spandex-wearing commies anyway.

OOC So we have...

RED DOTS... Captain Conduit in the diner, Lightning Bullet out
YELLOW DOTS... The two super commies
BLUE DOTS... armed goons, a mix of blinded and still shooting

Car 1 - no one in it
Car 2 - woman and two kids in it
Car 3 - no one in that
Car B, C, D no one in them

An exploding car like 1 could possibly affect up to 5 goons and 1 Super Commie
B or C could possibly affect up to 4 goons
Car 3 (Fred Asters car) could take out up to 6 goons

The further away, the trickier the shot. Gas tanks tend to be at the back of a vehicle and so you are looking at a called shot (trick shot) which is +4 OV. It would be more but the nature of electricity will actually help in this respect. If it were say, energy blast, I wouldn't say it was possible to hit the gas tank without moving side on. So yeah, it's tricky but doable if you get a decent roll.

With his power to blast electrical energy Captain Conduit hopes his 'impossible shot' might actually come off.

To hit the car wouldn't be an issue usually. To hit something at the back of the car in order to ignite the fuel therein? Hmmm. He was relying on his power arcing through the vehicle and touching the gas inside the tank. Tricky.

Still, he wouldn't know if it worked till he tried, and so with stray bullets zinging around, Fred took aim...

Fred's shot goes high and wide, flashing through the air!

This gets the attention of one of the Russian supers who utters something and started to float over towards the diner. He couldn't possibly know who in the diner fired the shot but knows someone fired something that most definitely wasn't a bullet!

The Russian with the hammer symbol on his chest hovers in front of the diner window. Those inside, whilst ducking at the bullets zinging about, see bullets flatten against the red clad man's body!

"YOU IN THERE! WHOEVER YOU ARE!" he shouted in accented English. "GIVE YOURSELF UP. WE ARE HERE FOR ZE SCIENTIST!" he bellowed, with arms crossed and clearly not perturbed by bullets flattening against his skin!

OOC 'Hammer' has moved and is using Density Increase but otherwise not making a dice action, expecting the fact he is a) flying and b) bulletproof to intimidate his targets into surrendering!

That means Lightning Bullet is up!

Lightning Bullet needs as many of these guys blinded as possible, especially the Commies! So he tries to flash one or both of them and any of the crooks who might be in the area still not flashed.

ooc: Since the one Commie moved up to the door of the diner, may only be able to attack one of them and goons.

Captain Conduit is dressed like a scientist. Will this guy believe Fred is the one that he's after?
