Wonder Man rolled his eyes and turned to look at the compound. "How about this. Me and Snaga attack the place, smash as much of it up as we can then break off, get them chasing us. Then you get in there, disconnect that gate, smash it, whatever."
Robbie frowned. "That thing that powers the gate. Can it be some kind of reactor? Fusion reactor?"
"A what what?" asked Swordsmith.
"You know what radium poisoning is or radiation poisoning," Prof. Wynde asks, all he remembers really is the Curies died of it and he thinks that was in the 20s or earlier. "Well a fusion reactor uses radiation to generate electrical power. Gobs and Gobs of electrical power, more than the biggest hydroelectric plant that you can think of. And it's tiny in comparison. And if it runs wild by accident or on purpose or its casing gets cracked, it will release a cloud of radiation that will poison the entire area, and I mean maybe all of Scotland for decades if not centuries! And depending on which way the winds are blowing when it does, either parts of Ireland or Scandinavia. And it may also explode. I'm not a nuclear physicist so I'm not totally clear on all the details if it goes bad. We want to make sure not to fight too close to it."
"As I told you in the briefing, Ghost Knight, these are time traveling aliens from another world, called the Advent. In our time," pointing to Major Oak and himself, "England and America are some of the very few advanced nations not directly under their control. They somehow have come to the past to change that by helping Hitler win the war. That's why they look so weird to you. And all those people are under some kind of mind control device. If we could break the mind control device, if we knew where it was, then we could get those innocent folks out of here and really go to town against the Advent."
"Wonderman, if you and Snaga attack alone, we don't have any real muscle left to fight our way through. That's why I don't want to split us up. If we had a full complement of Lore Knights, then I would be more than willing to try to double offensive. But I think we are going to need all our powers and skills to finish this. Dragging away some of them is a good idea but we just don't have enough people to do that. However .... I think I have an idea, listen ...."
"Major Oak, you can summon animals right? And can teleport? This entire base is inside your range, yes? Or Faerie, you can keep in contact with him? Here's my idea, you summon every rat and mouse and other rodent from miles around. There are always mice and rats around. You get them to start chewing on all the wires OUTSIDE AND NEAR that building. Summon any other animals that would also chew or claw their way through powerlines. Chew through the insulation and short out all the powerlines you can. That will take down a great deal of their electronics and the base's main generator and with the rodents attacking all the powerlines, spread over the area, it will cause all the confusion Wonderman had mentioned without giving us away. Though in honesty, the moment we show up, they will know within seconds."
"I'm guessing you have to stay outside where you can see them or need to concentrate, not just give them orders and then forget them? When they arrive here and have been chewing for a bit, enough to almost chew through the smaller wires, that's when the rest of us will go inside. Faerie can keep in contact with you mentally and when they have chewed through almost everything they can or are mostly dead, that's when you teleport in and join us or Faerie can come get you."

"Distraction... confusion... they'll know something is going on but will be preoccupied with rats everywhere. How many can you summon? Ten? Twenty?" asks Ghost Knight.
Major Oak frowned. "Let's see."
OOC Had to rejig the character for Major Oak. It turns out you need Speak to Animal rather than Animal Control on it's own which is odd but got rid of Growth, increased Will (and Density Increase) and added Speak with Animals.
Animal Summoning 10 - summon a horde of Rats.

He held a hand up, concentrating and within minutes there were sounds of screeching and squeaking... Boudicea yelped, Faerie shrunk and flew into the air. Even Snaga pulled a face and summoned his axe... Hundreds of rats poured from the undergrowth to gather around Major Oak. "Ok..." he whispered. "Here's the problem. I can only control so many of them at a time." he said. "If I get closer and summon them there it will be better as my control will run out from here before they get to the base."
He opened his eyes and looked about. "I think that bush thing counts as a tree, albeit a small one. I may be spotted if I teleport there." he said of a bush near the compound fence. "But it's worth a try."
Then he vanished!
The rats instantly started to disperse...
"What the...?" spluttered Ghost Knight as rats washed over his feet. "What does the boy think he's doing?" Everyone looked to see where Major Oak was but in the darkness it was impossible from this distance. The lights of the compound were dim but that helped hide him.
Prof Wynde noted that the rats now appeared to be running down the hill towards the bush Major Oak had pointed out.
"Now we wait." said Wonder Man.
Minutes passed.
Boudicea looked out into the darkness. "How will we know if he's successful?"
BLAAAAAAA BLAAAAAAA BLAAAAAAA!!!
A distant alarm rang out and Snaga grinned. "I think you have your answer!" They saw distant sparks as a power line was severed and a building exterior went dark. Then more sparks as the wires were severed one by one!
"Time to go!" said Boudicea, summoning her amour and weapon.
Faerie called up her teleportation ability...

All of a sudden the group were crouched in the shadows of the gate room, hiding behind crates and some machines. The alarm was blaring and troops were running everywhere. A light overhead sparked and died but the aliens at the gate including that hovering sphere, weren't budging. The armoured ADVENT troops ran in squads of six towards the lifts and stairs. The lifts appeared to be non functional which bought more time.
There were 2 Mutons, a Snake Woman, a Thin Man, A faceless and that ominous looking floating sphere in front of the gate. They appeared to be conversing with each other and looking about. This warehouse/gate room was a lot emptier than it had been. They clearly had been busy loading boxes and equipment into transports ready to ship elsewhere seeing as the complex had been compromised.
"Can we take them?" asked Ghost Knight.
"Watch us!" hissed Snaga, eager to get into the fight!
"Call it." said Wonder Man to Prof Wynde.

With the alarm blaring the defenders were on high alert and so were not surprised when the Lore Knights burst from cover! Had they attacked from cover they might have gained surprise, but Prof Wynde saw the Ghost Knight was eager to flex his muscles!

OOC It looks bleak! But .. Snaga has Regen 10. You can control Swordsmith this round as he's the only one left who can act. The ladies are stunned and easy prey for the other aliens, mind... This battle could have gone very very differently if someone had gotten a shot off at the Gatekeeper first.

That sphere is metal right? Could Swordsmith use his powers on the exterior metal and change it into hmmm a large metal plate or a shield? Without its metal outer coating, it might fall apart.

The Creature that had been inside it was a mess of tentacles and flesh... and it splattered across the floor into a collapsed pile of flesh and sludge!

There's an awful smell in the air and Swordsmith wonders if his powers will work on the other Aliens' weapons... which are all now trained on him!

Hmmm .... the fighting is too mixed up to try an AOE attack. Let's try Magic Blasting the Thin Man and the Snake Woman, crit blow. Attacking two foes has a lesser penalty then attacking 3, right? If the penalty is the same to attack 3, then attack a third one too, otherwise just those two.

Sorry no, no time gate. Trying to block the entrance where the guards are coming from so that they can't come in.
Do you mean we are past the huge vault door and are facing the source of magic? If so, then have Faerie work on neutralizing the magic on the thing instead of going for Major Oak while Prof. Wynd sends a continual hurricane of wind out against the guards trying to rush in.

Faerie and Prof Wynde detect the gate itself as magic.
Sure enough under the wiring and devices that surround the stone arch that the gate is comprised of, there is ancient worn and carved stone with strange symbols which though worn were clearly of a magical or occult nature. The machinery the arch was wrapped around in was clearly added on and Prof Wynde was no expert in the marriage of science and sorcery but it seemed like the machines provided power on a huge scale which the gate somehow converted into sorcery which created the time gate's ability to transport things through time, some 80 years or so!
In theory Prof Wynde and Robbie (Major Oak) could use this to get to their own time!
Wonder Man and Snaga moved to a doorway and peeked in. "Stairwell. Leads up. I guess it's the only way in or out if the lift stays jammed." called Wonder Man. "Keep an eye on those guys." he said, referring to the Aliens. "If one gets up and we're not watching, they may cause trouble!"
The newly awakened Earl groans. "I feel weak as a kitten. Clearly I need to learn something about being 'invincible' because I charged in like a rookie!" Faerie placed a hand on his shoulder and smiled. "You'll learn sir. We're all still new to this."
"Please, call me Reggie." replied the Earl with a smile.
Wonder Man turned away and kept an eye on the stairwell.
Boudicea came up to Prof Wynde. "We need to destroy this arch thing. The problem is, will disconnecting or damaging any of this extra stuff might... be bad. We just don't know."
"Hey Prof! We got company! I can hear footsteps at the top of the stairwell!" shouted Wonder Man.

"Faerie, lets you and I try to negate the magic in the center of this thing," Prof Wynde decides. "The rest of you, destroy that stairwell. Bring down the ceiling in the stairwell or jam it with machinery. Just plug it up. we can have Faerie teleport us out once we are done here."

OOC I can't see you having much success with Neutralize but lets see. Yours is 10, higher than Faeries' but to time travel like these guys do is using at least 32APs of Time Travel. In game terms this thing has 20 Time Travel then gets boosted by all the gizmos with that crazy powerful power supply by another 13APs.

"Imagine facing half a dozen... a dozen... of these guys." said Snaga. That silenced the group.
Wonder Man got back to pushing the huge machine and soon it was set up in front of the gate.
"What do we do about those in the armoured suits that have ordinary citizens in them?" asked faerie.

"NOTHING," Prof. Wynde shouts over his wind, "not right now. Shutting down this portal is most important. Maybe that will break them free from their spell."

Wonder Man called over the howl of wind to Prof Wynde "I'm ready here to yank the power from this thing and I think it will get messy!" said the hero.
"In fact... I've a feeling it will explode immediately!" he added. "That means one of us must stay whilst the rest of you teleport away!"
"No!" shouted Snaga. "We all go or none go!" he roared.
"He's right!" said Boudicea.
"As soon as this cable is yanked the reactor will spew energy and this whole place will be bathed in power that will smash this place to pieces!" said Wonder Man. "Unless anyone else is able to resist it, I am the best suited to survive!"
Ghost Knight stepped forward. "I am leader of the Lore Knights! I order you to find another way!"
Wonder Man rolled his eyes and looked to Prof Wynde. "We don't have long Prof, what say you? I think I can survive this ... but I can't say the same for all of you!"
