Putty! Issue #1 - "I have no mouth and I must scream..."
Issue #1 "I have no mouth and I must scream"
The Nazi soldiers sprinted by, their dark grey uniforms contrasting with the clean concrete walls and floor of the city they'd built over the ruins of London, conquered over 70 years ago. Hidden in the shadows of an alley, the gelatinous form of the young man who had seen his parents killed whilst he himself had been changed into... He paused, looking at his body. Rain spattered off the smooth shiny film of his skin.
Whatever he was, he wasn't like them.
He watched more of the hated Nazi soldiers run past. The wind was wild now, and a number of them clung onto helmets and lost much of their discipline as the wind ripped at them. Rain drove into their faces, and shortly after, ice the size of golf balls started coming down in the form of hailstones.
Looking in a puddle, the creature touched an amorphous hand to a face blank save for a pair of green glowing eyes. The eyes stared back, tortured, pained, grieving.
Angry.
A moment later, a rent appeared in the face and he cried out, rage giving a voice that could be heard echoing around the streets nearby.
At the end of the alley three Nazi soldiers, passing, paused. Glancing at one another they readied weapons and started to advance into the shadows to investigate the anguished cry!
OOC They are coming towards you, weapons drawn, looking to investigate the noise they heard. On the plus side, you have a mouth, and can scream With a little more practise, you can even talk too I'll give an example of posting format we use:
Putty
Dialogue, description of actions, thoughts, words, conversations
OOC any questions or queries
Actions: What you intend to do with your frames if in combat, or what you'd like to do otherwise
OOC take a look in the other current issue thread to get an idea of how we do stuff - it's just what we're used to and so far, works

The ... man? ... boy? ... creature? whurfled and moaned. He kept an eye on the advancing soldiers as he looked around for some place to hide. He moved down a bit down the alleyway and then stopped in shock as his befuddled mind realized that he had moved away from the corner yet had kept an eye on the soldiers as he did. An "eyestalk" for lack of better words had grown out of his face and stretched back to the corner. He also realized that he was being struck by golfball-size hail and it didn't even hurt! They just ... "plooshed" into his skin and then bounced out.
actions: moved 2-3 meters down the alleyway and hold but leaving eyestalk to watch the soldiers advance.

Putty
Amazed at the eyeball that seemingly 'kept an eye' on things as he himself moved away from the corner, deeper into shadows. The buildings about him were connected at a higher level to make less of a footprint, but were essentially all part of the same building.
When they neared the crossroads of the alleyway they readied weapons, and moved in a standard cover formation, half crouch and ready to open fire on anything that moved! "Who's there?" one shouted, as they came ever near the corner...
OOC they are only 2-3m from rounding the corner

The ... being wants them to go away. He hates them. He fears them.
"Glowwererrebbbllblel awaveebby!" he roars, trying to say "Go Away!", but his mouth isn't working right. He instictively flails away with his hands, trying to knock them away from him, trying to make them hurt and go away.
actions: Stretch and punch

Putty
The soldiers cry out in surprise!
OOC Initiative... 1d10=5 Putty, 1d10=4 Nazis. 1 Frame before the Nazis get their 2 frames... I'll assume you punch with your frame...? 1d20+2+8=18 Hit (just!), 2d6+18=27 Htc.
Before they can react a pseudopod flies out from Puttys' form to deliver a jarring punch that sends a Nazi shock troop flying through the air to lie crumpled in a heap! It's gone (retracted) before the Nazis can really register what struck them!
Blinking in disbelief and seeing one of their number down, one moves over to his comrade and starts babbling on the radio whilst the other moves around the corner and gasps in disbelief!
OOC one is down and out. The other have moved and is speaking on the radio. The other has moved around the corner (1fr) but needs an action to use his weapon. He grabs up his pistol (1fr) from his belt holster instead... From his knowledge Putty knows the pistol is some kind of taser. Putty has 3 frames. One Shock Trooper is out of sight around the corner, the other stood 3m in front of him, gaping at the sight before him.

Re: Putty! Issue #1 - "I have no mouth and I must scream..."
The man soon to call himself Putty was very surprised to see how powerful he had become. After a split second pause, he launched another attack, striking at the soldier cloest to him with his extendible arms. Then he moved to where he could see the third soldier in order to stretch out his arms and attack him as well.
"Arrrghhooolooo!"
actions: Strike closest - not sure if this is one frame or two since using both Strength and Stretching to attack. If two, move to see the third soldier. If one, move to see third solider and then stretch and punch again.

Wahooo Dave great to have you onboard so excited that Paul's effort to recruit worked. Putty, looks a lot like clayface from the Batman cartoon. Nice one. Be interesting to see how this develops ;-).

Re: Putty! Issue #1 - "I have no mouth and I must scream..."
ooc: Thanks. Great to be back.
Yeah, he looks a lot like Clayface but he started out as more of a homage to the original Plastic Man. As time goes on, he will look less like Clayface and take on a more human appearance. There was a one-shot Charlton Comics morphing/stretching character called the Blob, or something like that, who has a more human build that Putty is going to evolve looking more like over time. But right now, a bluish Clayface he is.
And why he is called Putty, I wrote a bit in the Out of Character section explaining that.

Putty
OOC stretching allows you to melee attack at range, so it shouldn't cost a frame to stretch otherwise you may as well run up to the opponent and whack 'em. Therefore...1d20+2+8=21 Hit, 2d6+18=24 Htc, 1d20+2+8=23 Hit, 2d6+18=21 Htc
Putty stretched another arm out, slamming into a soldier. Stepping into the alleyway, he saw the soldier he'd just punched sliding down a wall, completely out of it! The last was jabbering away into his throat microphone and barely saw the punch coming...
POW!
He spun on the spot and slumped to the floor, unconscious!
Putty looked in wonder at his body... it was like he'd become some kind of living weapon to use against the Nazis! Three fearsome shock troops lay on the floor where before they were about to rip into him with bullets... that sparked another question in the beings mind. Could he even be hurt?
The wind and rain continued to drive down and he turned to where the sound of vehicles and men running were heading. Looking between buildings he saw one of the Nazi base/outpost towers that were scattered through the city. It seemed to be at the centre of the storm and surrounded by a tornado! Suddenly there was a blinding flash, and lightning forked from the sky to strike the base from several angles, though rather than destroy it, the place seemed undamaged! What was going on, and why were the Nazis so determined to get to the base to stop it? He wondered... hazy memory recalling news reports of a rebel underground movement, of insurgents rising up against the Nazis, though often crushed by the Gestapo...
Any enemy of the Nazis was surely one to ally with - despite his power, Putty was in no doubt the massed might of the Nazis would overpower him if they were given the chance. Saying that, with his fantastic powers and incredible form, was there perhaps some other way to get closer to the base without being recognised? He could, seemingly, stretch and mould his body shape to his own desires... Did that extend to mimicking the form of... he turned, looking about... Nazi soldiers?

Smooshing his hands together, the {man? boy?} remembered a sensation similar to this. A toy from long ago. It came in an egg. It bounced, it stretched, it molded just like he was doing. It was called .... ??? ... "Something" Putty. He couldn't remember its full name anymore. He couldn't remember anything clearly of his past. But he decided that Putty was as good a name as any.
He walked over to the downed soldiers and picked their pockets, grabbing their money and their identification. As he looked at one of the soldiers, he felt his face shift and move. Then it froze. He reached up and felt his face. It had changed. Taken a more normal look, it felt like to him. Grabbing one of the shiny helmets off the unconscious soldiers, he used it as a mirror, looking as best he could into its dark reflection. It seemed his face had shifted to look like the face of the man at his feet. He walked over to the second soldier. He concentrated on the face before him and again felt his face move and reshape. Using the helmet, he saw he now looked like the man before him. He went to the third man, the one who had been talking into a throat mike and again he felt his face move. This time though he concentrated on the whole man, not just his face.
With that concentration, his entire body began shifting. Within seconds, his body had shifted to look like the man on the ground before him, including uniform and gear!
"Wha..? Va ...? What is this," a voice coming out of his throat finally articulated. His vocal cords had shifted as well making it easy to speak again. "I can talk! I can talk!!"
Remembering the weird weather and the exploding light, and man/boy called Putty went through the identification papers of the man before him, reading his name and rank. He then grabbed up a rifle and went trotting in the direction of all the other strangeness.

OOC you found the graphic I put up for the D20 I was going to announce the dice rolling function at some point, but got sidetracked in my quest to get pictures of all the sides, and, well, invisible castle is just as easy to roll on...
Putty
The 'german soldier' or Private Albert Schmidt of the Nazi Shocktroop 3rd Division, ran between buildings and through the streets. When he came across another squad, armed to the teeth and jogging towards the howling winds, he paused, before he realised they'd not given him a second glance!
Ordinary people on the street were ordered - in some cases with the butt of rifles - to get back indoors and stay there or they would be shot!
London was going to hell in a handbasket!
No more than the Nazis deserved!
Everywhere, in the background, sirens wailed across London. Workers stopped, looked out of windows and wondered, but not much more than that as harsh taskmasters stared them back to work. Soldiers and police in garrisons mobilised, if not to directly participate, then to keep the peace.
The closer Putty got to the storm, the harder it was to keep his feet! Easy for him that the common soldiers though! They fell back, clutching at helmets and weapons in the face of a violent storm. Soon, Putty was the only 'soldier' he could see around him able to press on into the wind. He soon stood in the shadow of a building overlooking a plaza where ruined vehicles and mechanized armoured suits lay in ruins, and the eye of the tornado was revealed.
The base stood in the eye of the tornado whilst lightning flashed all about!

Suddenly, the strange creature known as putty heard a distant voice in his mind!
"BROTHER!"
then
"BROTHERS!"
and "JOIN! JOIN HANDS! WE WILL OPEN A GATE TO OUR EXILED BRETHREN!"

Re: Putty! Issue #1 - "I have no mouth and I must scream..."
Putty moved forward against the storm.
"Gott in Himmel," he muttered to himself, "I must be insane!"
Using what shelter he could, he continued to move to the strange building and the tornado in front of him. As he got closer, the howling wind caused his face to melt back into its putty-like substance.
A blast of lightning struck near him, causing him to start and jerk back and lose his feet. He went tumbling back a dozen feet or so in the fierce wind. When he stood up, his human disguise was completly gone. Putty began to stretch his arms and legs and stretch forward to wrap them around pillars, posts and anything else that seemed solidly attached to the ground. Doing so, he pulled himself forward ... closer and closer .... and closer still, all the while looking up at the strange building that seemed to be in the center of the storm.
actions: stretch and move towards the base. Lose shapeshift.

Putty
From the rooftop of a large building, a Nazi metahuman, clutching the wall on the roof to remain standing against the fierce wind, shouted "There! Do you see that? What is it???"
Majestic leaned over, no fear showing in his face that he faced a 30 storey drop. He could fly, even in this wind, so why fear?
He narrowed his eyes, the pupils tightening as his telescopic vision revealed... well. He wasn't quite sure WHAT it was! "Good question." he turned. "Shrike! I have a job for you! See?" he pointed from the top of the roof. "Whatever that is, it's trying to get into the base. Kill it!"
=========
Putty moved, step by painful step. His ability to adhere to the surface of the road prevented him from being scooped up and tossed away, though it was hard to keep any semblance of shape in this high wind! The lightning was another matter - that would ruin his day (and the next one, probably...) were he to be hit!
As he neared the base, he saw the main doors were sealed, but there appeared to be a hole in the side.
"YOU FOOL!" he heard, inside his head "MORTAL, TARRY NOT! JOIN! OPEN THE GATE WHILST THERE ARE STILL MOMENTS LEFT TO DO SO!"
Was the voice meant for him? It was definitely louder than before!
The fact he could hear it over the howl of the wind suggested it was something akin to the voice he'd heard that had affectively saved his life when he'd gained his powers... and seen his parents... He paused, stifling a sob. It saved his life!
A shadow flashed over head, claws raking the air where he would've been walking only a split second before! He looked up, saw a spinning, tumbling shape in the sky... a female form, like a human sized bird of prey! He recognised her from the News/Propaganda as one of the many metahumans serving the Nazi cause!
Shrike!
The howling wind has slowed your own movement considerably, fort eh flying Nazi it was even harder, though she seemed to senses when to flap against the wind and when to go with it! Even so, for her to attack again would require a considerable effort of skill! Putty glanced back. The hole was only a dozen or so metres away. Could he make it before Shrike swooped again?

Putty didn't want to fight in this wind. He was afraid of being blown away and the Voice in his head ... He didn't know what gate it was talking about but figured it was somewhere inside and to get inside, he needed get into the hole. Hoping he could either beat Shrike inside or at least survive her next attack, he stretched, grabbing the edge of the hole and pulled himself, trying to get inside.
actions: stretch and pull/move to the hole and inside if possible.

Putty
The elasticised man heard, over the rush of wind, the scream of a full bloodied dive! Risking a glance up, he saw Shrike soar down, intent on slashing at him with those deadly steel claws!
He reached for hole, form being torn at by the wind. Without his incredible strength or ability to adhere to surfaces there would have been no way for him to get this far! Even so, he grasped the hole and shot in, and not a moment too soon as Shrike swiped air where he'd been, then struggled to control her own flight, all feathers and flailing!
