Stormwarden
{Guy St Ives]

Stormwarden decided to take advantage of the distraction and hit out again at the Black Knight.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------
ooc: Frame 1 martial arts

Frame 2-3 (I hope I have this right) - fly, swoop and dive attack - given the flight distance allowed per frame, I think that this should all be allowable and should, because it gets that double hand attack at the end. However, I am a little unsure of this this....)

In case thats ok, I have posted two 1d20 results:

=========================
STORMWARDEN FROSTBITE
(59Htk/53Htc) (35Htk/30Htc)
=========================

OOC Stormwardens Martial arts attack hits Chevalier Noir. Damage is... not great... 2d6=6Htk, 1d6+18=19Htc. Upshot is that Chevalier takes another 5Htc and has taken a total of 36Htc now. Whilst not groggy he's feeling decidedly bashed around!

==========

Chevalier Noir reels from another strike by Stormwarden. "Ees that...eet?" he gasps through his armour. "Dominator! Do some sing about zees imbecile!" he bellows, and turns to where Yeoman is stood. "Now, Eenglish peeg, we weel see ow you deal with my blade, non?"

Yeoman grins. "Bring it on Frenchy. I can smell your breath from here. That's what I'm more scared of!"

Dominator touches his ear "Matador! Get out here!" Then he turns to pick up a head sized rock and hurl it at Frostbite...

Chevalier Noir moves over to Yeoman, but is limping quite badly, huffing and puffing as he goes.

He swings twice at the newcomer, his blade crackling with energy.

==========

OOC Chevalier Noir needs 2 frames to move the 5m to where Yeoman is. Then he swings twice. Both are good hits...1d20+4+6=21 Hit, 1d20+4+6=30 Critical hit (10! Choose... 'Power Attack' reduce damage dividers by 2). Damage done is 2d6+5=13Htk/5=2Htk, 1d6+5=7Htc/4=1Htc, 2d6+5=14Htk/3=4Htk, 1d6+5=11Htc/2=5Htc. Yeoman takes a total of 6Htk and 6Htc.

Dominator picks up a chunk of rubble (1 frame) then hurls it at Frostbite, 8m away. 1d20+2+6-1 for fog=24 Hit. Damage is... none. Frostbite is intangible until he actually drops his power...

==========

Chevalier Noir shouts "Ha!" and "HEEEYAH!" as he scythes his blade at Yeoman. Who barely moves. Stormwarden winces as he sees the second strike slash across Yeomans' face!

And still he barely twitched. "That it? All that yappin, and that's it?" asks Yeoman.

Chevalier Noir looks at his sword then up again. "My energy... needs to recharge..." he mumbles.

Meanwhile Dominator grabs up a head sized chunk of concrete and hurls it with impressive accuracy at Frostbite. Yeoman looks up, shouts a warning "Watch out!" but it's not needed. Despite landing directly where Frostbites head is, it simply sails through him and out into the fog, to impact with great force against a wall somewhere in the darkness.

With a curse the big man moves to Stormwarden and takes a swing!

==========

OOC 1d20+2+6=17 Miss! Stormwarden narrowly misses being clobbered by Dominator. A bad round for the villains then. All their 4 frames used and barely a scratch on the good guys. Heroes turn!

==========

Stormwarden sways to the side, seeing the swing coming a mile off. He grins, crouches then springs into the air, disappearing into the fog.

"What?" shouts Dominator, looking up.

"You say some theeng?" added Chevalier Noir, who was holding up his shield against Yeoman. "I 'ave developed my weapons since last time, peeg. You will never..."

Yeoman looks up, grinning.

Chevalier Noir follows his gaze.

[size=20pt]Crump![/size]

Stormwarden slams into Chevalier Noir from above!

==========

OOC Strictly speaking Frostbite and Yeoman go slightly ahead of Stormwarden, but that'd muck his action up and not affect theirs so much, so I'll let it slide Smile Your roll of 9, plus WC3, plus 6 (DC) and an extra +1 from the blindside ensures the hit. Damage is 1d6=3Htk, 2d6+6+5+18=34Htc/2=17Htc. The shield wasn't pointing up, so doesn't soak up any damage! Chevalier Noir, having taken 53Htc (out of a possible 55) is now stunned. He cannot move, suffers -5 to hit and has only 2 frames. Given that Stormwarden was actually diving straight at the floor where Chev Noir was stood, I'm ruling that it will take 1 frame to recover from the dive. If it was a straight horizontal 'fly past' charge he might've gotten away without the recovery, but there's a good chance Chevalier Noir would've been able to use his shield against it. All four of Stormwardens frames are used this round.

The follow up wind whip attack by Frostbite inflicts 7Htc and spins Chevalier Noir on the spot, dropping him. He's out cold.

==========

Chevalier Noir staggers about as Stormwardens massive form crashes into him from above! His helmet looks lopsided, his knees are bent and unsteady, and he staggers about as if not sure where he is. Stormwarden crashes into the floor and rolls to his feet nearby, unharmed and with a grin on his face.

When the wind whip lashes the Frenchman it causes him to cry out, then drop to the floor in a heap.

"I'll go shall I?" quips Yeoman. "Thought I'd come along, lend a hand, looks like I'm here to watch. Shoulda brought popcorn..." he grins.

He's silenced as suddenly the wind whips right up, blowing in Yeomans, Dominators and Chevaliler Noirs faces! Not that the Frenchman feels it much.

"What the...?" shouts Yeoman, half covering his eyes, as wind whips up dust and grit all about. He leans slightly into the wind.

Dominator calls out "Ach! You vill pay for zat!"

Stormwarden can't understand what the fuss is about. The wind doesn't touch him at all (OOC Grade 3 Weather control vs Grade 1- no contest!) and his fog starts to move at first, then fills in immediately, despite the roaring wind! It's an eerie sight!

Yeoman shouts "Well, if no one is having a go at the big guy, I will!" and flies in the wind over to Dominator. "Hey ugly!" he bellows. "Cop for this!"

==========

OOC Yeoman uses 1 frame to fly to Dominator. Then takes three swings at the big man. His fist crackles with some kind of energy as he swings... 1d20+3-2+6=12 Miss, 1d20+3-2+6=10 Miss, 1d20+3-2+6=19 Hit! Damage from the one successful swing is 4d6=13Htc/2=6Htc, 3d6=15/2=7Htc. Added to damage taken previously Dominator has now taken 21Htc, 10Htk.Yeoman has used 21 of his 22 energy dice now. Frostbite uses his last attack to strike at Dominator, and does so, inflicting 3Htc after Dividers. Dominator has now taken 24Htc, 10Htk. He looks solid as a rock.

==========

"Gaaahhh!" snarls Yeoman as his swings go wild, his vision impaired by the swirling dust all about. When one does connect he grimaces. "Damn head's made of rock!"

The wind whip lashes out from Frostbite to rake across Dominators back.

The big man twitches, but doesn't cry out.

"Matador!" he bellows. "Give me help out here!"

On the roof of the old power station the machine guns go silent...

Somewhere out in the fog and darkness a high pitched whining is getting louder...

In the distance somewhere there is the whup whup whup of choppers, getting closer...

==========

OOC A much better round for the good guys. Chevalier Noir is out. Vitesse is out. A hero turns up and helps them out against the toughest nut to crack, Dominator. Frostbite is now tangible. Yeoman and Dominator are at -2 to hit and half move. Bad guys initiative is 1d10=7

Frostbite
[Joe Rigdon]

Initiative for the good guys=2 :-[

Ok so here is what Frostbite anticipates doing when its his turn...

As Yeoman quips about Popcorn, Frostbite grined back, holding his nerve as flying pieces of wall sink through his frame. Despite how

unnatural it felt, it was a relief to be still standing in this combat so far.

Actions
1st frame continue wind against Dominator...
2, 3 and 4th frame continue to lash out at him with the windwhip, unless I need to use these frames with his attack to parry or dodge? I

will take evasive manouevers over attacking since I don't see myself easily withstanding one of those rocks connecting with me.

[How embarrassing I just realised I've been rolling wrong, the old rules were 1d20 v DC and you had a table, I forgot you added WC and DC

and anything over 18 was a hit. Doh! Anyway this is amended now below.]

Roll 1: 30 If hit damage=8 HTC
Roll 2: 23 If hit damage=8 HTC
Roll 3: 22 If hit damage=6 HTC

Total 22HTC -2 Div

STORMWARDEN FROSTBITE
(59Htk/53Htc) (35Htk/30Htc)
=========================

OOC 3 Frames for the bad guys.

==========

With Frostbite and Stormwarden being so new to the hero game, their experiences had so far been limited. But if they'd not yet encountered the sublime, for sure now they were encountering the ridiculous...

Archive: Stormwarden/Frostbite Issue #1 - Page 4 1258028895049643200

"Ay Caramba!" shouted a flamboyant, foppish looking figure in the hole that Dominator had made in the power station wall. "What is this? Dominator! The pickup has been made! We should go!"

Dominator bellows over his shoulder "Ve hef two men down! Ve need to get zem out of here! And ze men on ze roof! Find out what happened to them!"

Dominator snarls at Yeoman, raises a massive fist then crashes it down on top of the smaller man.

==========

OOC 1d20+8=23 Hit, 1d20+8=20 Hit, 1d20+8=24 Hit, 2d6+26=36/4=9Htc, 2d6+26=32/4=8Htc, 2d6+26=31/4=7Htc. Forgot to add the -2 from wind but all hit anyway. Yeoman staggers under three terrific punches, standing firm and still being hammered into the floor like a tent peg! Yeoman takes a total of 24Htc.

==========

Dominator pounds relentlessly on Yeoman, who is too slow to move and covers his head up as the huge fist pounds down on his head and shoulders. After the third blow Yeoman is stood in a foot deep crater looking slightly dazed but still with plenty of fight left in him. He grins up at the big man.

"This is gonna be a looooonnnng day. Say. Have you met my mate? He don't say much, but goes by the name of Nowhere Man..." grins Yeoman as blood trickles from his nose.

Dominators eyes narrow. "Nowhe... oh no..." He looks about wildly.

Matador speeds up to Vitesse, around the area with the fierce wind, picks him up, grunting with the weight and complaining, and speeds back into the building around the area where the wind is blowing.

==========

OOC Matador moves, picks Vitesse up, moves again out of sight into the building. He's so fast and agile that the loose ground makes no difference to him. He simply flows, with grace and style. Ok, not style, exactly...

Frostbite will need to use an action to change the direction/focus of his intense wind. For what it actually looks like, think of those smoke machines on top of the pops that would completely obscure the entire screen with the artist trying to mime and coughing their head off Smile Therefore Frostbite has 1 more frame to use.

His strikes cause 22/3=7Htc against Dominator, taking his damage total to 31Htc, 10Htk.

==========

Dominator grunts with pain as the wind whip lashes out against him, then laughs "Is zis ze best you can do? You are in trouble!"

Then, a rasping voice from behind him growls "No. You're in trouble."

==========

OOC 1d20+2+6+2=29 Hit. Damage is extensive. 3d6=16Htc, 2d6=7Htk, 3d6=10Htc, 2d6=4Htk, 3d6=13Htc, 2d6=5Htk, 3d6=14Htc, 2d6=3Htk. Nowhere Man doesn't suffer from backfire (he has improved Intangibility so does more damage than standard, increasing the chance, but there was no roll below 31 - 25% chance of backfire.).By the end of his frames he is solid enough to be hit though. That said, he is still invisible... The attack to Dominator causes 53Htc, 19Htk. This places Dominator on 84Htc and 29Htk taken.

Yeoman swings at Dominator. All his attacks miss, one critically. If there had been no wind 3 of the 4 would have hit (16 and 17x2)! Critical was attack too slow. Dominator swings back! 1d20+2+6=25 Hit, 2d6+26=38/4=9Htc Hit again despite wind. Yeoman takes another 9Htc meaning he's now taken 33Htc.

==========

Dominator screams in pain, but he can't see his unknown assailant. Yeoman is too busy covering his eyes and bellows "SOMEONE TURN THE BLOODY WIND OFF!" before Dominator whacks him again. This time Yeoman falls backwards, landing on his butt and slilding 4m away. He's looking slightly dazed but more angry now.

==========

OOC Yeoman needs to spend 1 frame getting up next round. Stormwarden has 4 frames to act. Frostbite has 1 frame to act. Matador has 1 frame to act after the heroes.

Frostbite
[Joe Rigdon]

Final action
I will drop the wind, and reform it as I have an action to do so. In the meantime I will move [however many meters I need to within my allocation] to better cover the hole that Matador fled through so as to cover us if he should reappear.

Sj.

OOC PS I like the way things are flowing better from listing our actions in one go - who would have thought a fight could flow so quick. The real test will be when the others join us Wink

=========================

OOC more for my reference, at the end of the NEXT round Dominator regains his energy dice. So does Chev Noir except... uh, he won't be able to use them for a while...

Frostbite moves towards the hole in the wall, but is still some 3m away from being able to block it. 1 more frame move will see him in the hole or past it into the building. Ideally I'd have cooked up a map but my schedule has been rubbish this week so chances have been near enough nil Sad

That leaves Stormwarden 4 frames to act and Matador one frame after Stormwarden to act. Frostbite cancels his wind.

==========

Frostbite drops the gale and Yeoman calls out a "Thanks!" from wherever he's sprawled on the floor in the fog. Then the icy hero makes his way over rocks and rubble to the hole in the old power station wall.

There is definite activity now outside the thick bank of fog. Were it not for the fog the combatants might, even now, have found themselves under heavy gun fire, tear gas and other attacks!

Little did they all know that the battle was about to take another twist...

Stormwarden [Guy St Ives]

"I'm coming!" Stormwarden called out to Yeoman, realising that he couldn't stop the new figure moving away with Vitesse.

He launched a new series of attacks at the big man, hoping to add into the damage he'd done previously.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I've lost track of how far away Dominator was from Black Knight. I am assuming far enough to take one frame to reach though, so...

Frame 1 - Move to Dominator
Frame 2-4 - Martial Arts, but, if any incoming attack, use one frame to dodge

OOC Yeah, a map would've helped, admittedly! Doh. We're almost done here anyway, and I'm pleased with the way it's gone, overall. I'm sure we'll get a system sorted which makes combat faster.... see the OOC post for more details.

Stormwarden attacks with Martial Arts.2d6=3/5=1Htk, 1d6+18=21/5=4Htc, 2d6=8/5=1Htk, 1d6+18=24/5=4Htc, 2d6=3/5=1Htk, 1d6+18=23/5=4Htc Total damage is 3Htk, 12Htc. Dominator has now taken a total of 32Htk, 96Htc. He is staggered, with -2 to hit and half movement.

==========

Clud!

Dominator slips on his gloves, feeling the expensive supple leather form over his hands. He flexes once, twice, feeling the satisfying creak of a new costume waiting to be broken in.

Whud!

Waiting with the others. This felt all wrong, but couldn't be helped now. Besides, who was to know? And he would be a few million euro better off.

Bang!

Arguing with the others. They were getting greedy! The plan had been clean, simple. Drop the stolen goods off. The internet broadcast would overcomplicate things. He looked at who else had been chosen, along with him. They would have to run the gauntlet. The men with guns would have to run the greatest risk without...

The world focussed back into view, stopping spinning wildly as Dominator felt his head nearly come off his shoulders. Or so it felt. He was nigh on invulnerable from the outside. But Nowhere Man - ach, why him? He attacked from the inside!

He took a deep breath, hooking up a mouthful of blood and leaning forward, spitting it out. Then he faced Stormwarden and the others.

"Nice hits. But I'm not done yet!" he growled with a bloody grin.

Yeoman shook his head. "I don't believe it. How are you still standing up?"

Dominator looked to the Briton on the floor. "German engineering. Best in ze vorld." Then he grinned.

Even Yeoman shrugged then spoke up "Don't believe it. I had a Golf that was a proper *&^%box."

Suddenly Matador reappeared at the hole in the wall, and saw Dominator staggering. "Eets not possible! No one can do zis!" He looked at the heroes. "Alright. Now you see what I can do!"

Then he looks up, at the sound of air being slammed aside by a rapidly approaching object.

Stormwarden feels his fog part as something - at high speed - slices through it.

Archive: Stormwarden/Frostbite Issue #1 - Page 4 1258122597015513400

Something lands not more than 5 metres away from Dominator, behind him. The ground shakes and rubble drops from the walls of the old power station.

"Oh &*$%^*%^." said Yeoman, peering into the dense fog. "Adjutant."

Standing just over 6' tall with the build of a weightlifter, Adjutant doesn't seem such an imposing figure - at least physically. However, from reputation gathered over the last couple of years it's clear that whilst 'normal' superhumans, such as yourselves and those you battle this day, are far above a normal human in terms of power, so then this man is, in turn, far above you.

After he revealed his identity as Albert Watkins, more details came out. Watkins had been a scientist on the European space initiative (ESI) and one of the astronauts on a mission to run space based experiments. One such experiment involved collecting samples from a near invisible spacial anomaly that had passed through our solar system. It proved to be the ESI Napoleons' fateful final mission.

All contact was lost with the space craft and the ESI launched a rescue mission. As they went up, they passed the burning wreckage of the Napoleon on the way down. Determined to find the cause of the disaster, they pressed on to find the bodies of the crew - in space suits - floating near the anomaly. Two of the eight crew were still alive, though one died on the way back to Earth. Watkins was the survivor, and after 6 weeks recuperation, could reveal nothing on what had happened. His memory of events after takeoff were gone.

Eventually he was pensioned from the service and disappeared from public life.

When he revealed his identity to the world, he gave clues as to what had happened. His body had, like the others, been saturated with intense energy that destroyed the frail human form. Something in the cloud, perhaps the cloud itself, had remade him, as best it could remember, using only what it could salvage from his dying remains - his brain and spinal column.

The rest was completely alien.

As he lay dormant in space, Watkins learnt how to control his incredible new alien body, including giving it human like life signs. He had no wish to deceive the authorities, but simply had no memory of what had gone on, only that he had changed somehow.

And continued to change.

By the time he was pensioned off, he'd made a decision to use his new found abilities for the good of mankind. Those abilities included mental powers amongst which was a level of telekinesis never before seen on planet Earth, enough to boost his strength levels to incalculable levels and give a forcefield that provided a near impregnable level of protection, flight many times faster than the speed of sound, and a host of other abilities that seemed too numerous to catalogue. He became, in short, the heroes' hero.

In the year and half after that, it was acknowledged that Adjutant was one of only half a dozen or so known metahumans on planet Earth that fit into category five. In short, power of godlike levels.

It seemed the only limitations were those imposed by his still human mind.

With the power came a certain detachment, and when Megaton, the villain, impersonated him, Adjutant did what he thought was right and revealed his identity, giving the public back their confidence in their foremost protector and champion and showing he trusted them enough to reveal who he was. It was, at once, a master stroke, and a disaster. Not for him - he was one of the 10 most powerful superhumans on planet Earth, but for his family, friends...

Despite this, Adjutant (he'd given up his civilian id, and his family/friends mourned for Albert Watkins as he'd more or less said that whatever he was now, he was no longer Watkins) pressed on, hoping his example would inspire others.

It did, but also plunged Britain into chaos as their superheroic protectors became outlaws overnight simply by not revealing their identities.

So why hasn't Adjutant tracked down and captured all the rogue superheroes? For all his abilities, Adjutant has a number of all too human flaws. He's too trusting, too noble, and perhaps too naive, believing that others would eventually do the right thing. But things have gone from bad to worse, and time, it seems, is running out both for the superhuman community of Britain and the country itself.

Frostbite didn't know what to say to the impressive hero who'd just shown up. Given his previous form one had to wonder what he was here for and why now, with so many incidents going on.

"Err Glad you showed up, Adjutant, we could probably do with an experienced hand here."

OOC 3 Frames to you guys (Stormwarden/Frostbite/Nowhere Man/Yeoman)

==========

Seemingly from thin air, Nowhere Man reappears and breaks off contact with Dominator. His arm had been thrust inside the big mans' chest!

"Adjutant. How nice of you to join the party." growled the gravel voiced vigilante.

Yeoman scrambled to his feet. "Our fight isn't with you Adjutant. We're on the same side!"

Adjutant looked first at Yeoman, then at the pair of you, then at Nowhere Man. "You do know" he said in a calm voice "What a mess London is in with you people making such a ruckus here? It's bedlam out there. And before you think of trying anything, the UKChampions will be here very soon."

He narrowed his eyes at Nowhere Man. "And you need to know..." he went on "Yeoman, and you others." He seemed to know who the Eurotrash people were. "That this man is wanted for murder." he added, pointing at Nowhere Man.

==========

OOC Nowhere Man becomes intangible (1 action) again. He's visible now, having dropped his invisibility. He holds his odd frame till after the villains have acted. Yeoman gets up (1 frame) moves to Dominator (1 frame) and punches the big man in the back, hoping to - finally - drop him. 1d20+2+6+1=24 Hit, 2d6+16=22/5=4Htc Dominator has now taken 100Htc, 32Htk and is still staggered. Yeoman has 1 frame remaining, Nowhere Man has two.

==========

"Ouch!" cries Yeoman. Though nigh on invulnerable himself to a large degree, Dominator was the 'unyielding object' and as solid as a mountain. He'd taken enough hits to fell an army battalion, and despite being dazed, still stood.

"Ve... need... to get out of... here..." he slurred to Matador.

"What? What about him?" the spaniard replied, pointing to the fallen Chevalier Noir.

"Forget him!" cried the German. It was clear he'd had enough.

Yeoman, meanwhile, had heard the accusation levelled at Nowhere Man, and turned to face the dark clad hero...

==========

OOC 3 Frames each to Stormwarden and Frostbite. My next post will now be Saturday night. Off to the classic car show at the NEC to drool over some yank muscle cars... If you're lucky I'll post the odd picture of a car the size of a boat with an engine so big that trees die when it starts up. That's yanks for ya Smile

Frostbite [Joe Rigdon]
=================

Somewhat taken aback both by the sudden appearance of Adjutant and his accusation about the Nowhere man, let alone what else was going on in London, Frostbite felt momentarily at a loss. But then instincts kicked in, until he had new facts to deal with he was going to continue with his primary role, and seeing Yeoman step forward to hit out at Dominator, Frostbite sought to back him up.

Actions

Windwhip three times at Dominator

Roll 1:28* Damage 14 HTC
Roll 2:29* Damage 11 HTC
Roll 3:23* Damage 12 HTC

Total damage: 37 HTC - 2 dividers

*OOC
This role looks really high but according to the new to hit rules you add DC and WC class together which in my case is +10 in most cases to the d20 role the links show that the d20 rolls were high in all cases as well.

And apparently you've got to get over 18 to hit. Which is great because unless there are strike modifiers or circumstantial modifiers you know when you've hit and need not wait for Paul to tell us. So not need for a complex to hit table..., its only as I've been playing under these new rules that I've taken greater notice of the difference between the old and new games. Anyway I'd thought I'd just point this out because I notice Kendal was only putting down his d20 rolls and not adding wc and dc class together and therefore my rolls look extraordinary as a result. If I get a critical miss or hit I will mention it in the roll, but invisible castle shows what was rolled anyway.

STORMWARDEN FROSTBITE
(59Htk/53Htc) (35Htk/30Htc)
=========================

Dominator looked genuinely fearful about Adjutants arrival - not from fear of the man himself, but of something else. He absolutely, definitely, wanted out of there.

And instead turned into Frostbites' wind lash.

"Accch!" he cried. He bellowed something in German - he was determined to get out of there, somehow. Frostbite, determined, showed little mercy, pummelling the big man with accuracy and power.

Even so, Dominator was still, nigh on, invulnerable.

He reeled from the blows but refused to go down!

==========

OOC Dominator has now taken a colossal 112Htc, even with his dividers. He's still on 32Htk. He is also stunned. 2 frames per round -5 to hit. He's ready to go. Stormwarden, are you ready to apply the closing shot to Dominators jaw...? Smile 3 Frames to Stormwarden, then the bad guys actions, and Adjutant...

Stormwarden [Guy St Ives]

Moving in for the close, Stormwarden concentrated his ire on Dominator, umleashing more attacks. He did't trust Adjutant. Who could trust someone who willingly betrayed his colleagues?

The bugs finally reached me. I'm crawling bac to bed.

Oh mate hope you feel better really quick, wouldn't it be good to have a super constitution as times like this.

Yes I didn't make that clear but I did realise...thanks - its good to shake down the rules together as this makes us all better players.

STORMWARDEN FROSTBITE
(59Htk/53Htc) (35Htk/30Htc)
=========================

OOC Not rolling damage for Stormwardens successful attacks. Against a stunned opponent I'll simply apply the two hits as a 'coup de grace'...

==========

"ACH!" bellowed Dominator as a chopping fist spun his jaw about. Slack jawed now, with blood oozing down his chin, he gave a gap toothed grin and slurred "you'll ... never... defeat.. me..." before collapsing in a heap on the spot. He was out!

Finally!

"El tiempo de salir de aqu?!" exclaims Matador (OOC "Time to get out of here!") He turns to run...

And instead floats into the air as rubble flies to gather about his form, harden, and change instantly into an inch thick concrete cast from head to toe, save for an area open at his nose to breathe.

"I don't think so." said Adjutant, eyes glowing.

"Bet that's gonna be hell when he gets an itch!" quips Yeoman.

"As I said, Nowhere Man is wanted for murder. The rest of you are breaking the law. Come quietly or you'll all be wearing casts. Steel ones in some cases." he added, looking at Stormwarden and Yeoman.

"And a cast for me, too?" rasped Nowhere Man, growling.

Adjutant was just about to speak before Nowhere Man interrupted him again.

"Why don't you tell us all who it was, exactly, I murdered? Yes, I killed him, but what did they tell you?" he growled.

"It was Lord Ranulph Smythe, personal adviser to the Queen on metaphysical..." said Adjutant, his voice trailing off.

Nowhere Man raised his hand to cut Adjutant off again. "You should try investigating instead of believing everything they tell you. The real Smythe died 2 years ago. The 'man' I killed was a demon, and he was after the Holy Gr..."

"Stop!" spat Adjutant. He bit his lip. "I... will check that out. It's just what I was told. And you know, as well as I, that... subject... is taboo. National security. But why would they tell me you...?"

Nowhere Man made a motion with his hand as if saying 'Go on'.

Adjutant continued "Unless they wanted you out of the way. Ok, someone has some explaining to do. In the meantime, you're still breaking the law. All of you. And the mess you've made here..."

Yeoman spoke up "We were here to stop Eurotrash!"

Adjutant sighed. "I still need to take you in. Sorry, but that's..."

He silenced again at Nowhere Mans raised hand. "I don't think so. Do you know what a neural destabiliser is? I'll tell you shall I? In your case, it's an insurance policy. The government made plans in case you ever went 'rogue'. You are, after all, the single most powerful being in the British Commonwealth. Some of the plans included an 'off switch' for the connection between your human brain and alien body. Long story short, I have the plans for that particular gadget, as well as the only working prototype, right here. You try anything - against me or my friends here, and you'll suffer the planets biggest recorded headache for 24 hours. Cost a lot of money - more than I have for certain - but I have rich ... contacts."

Adjutants eyes narrowed.

Nowhere Man went on. "It doesn't have to be like this. I agree with what you did. Things couldn't carry on as they were. There needs to be accountability. One day, I and others will have to account for the laws we've broken." He stepped forward. "But you know me. You have some idea of the sacrifices I made before you became a superhuman, and continue to make to protect my country and those who live in her. One day, what I owe will be called in, and there's nothing anyone can do about that. Till then, I will die for this country if need be."

Adjutants' stance relaxed. He sighed. "Go. This..." he waved his hand. "This mess. Eurotrash announced the theft of the nuclear waste to create panic. It worked. Right now, the rest of Eurotrash are robbing banks, jewellers and art galleries across London. I have to go."

Yeoman spoke up. "What about the nuclear waste?"

Adjutant shook his head. "Gone. It's not here, right now. And I can't sense whoever took it."

"Robot." spat Nowhere Man. He was answered by Adjutants nod. "I'll make enquiries." growled the man in black. "You have places to be Adjutant. When you come back here, we'll be gone. Tell SMITE..." and he pointed at the Eurotrash villains "...they're welcome. Oh, and get some medics up to the roof pronto because it looks like those goons up there spent all their time shooting at each other..."

Adjutant looked towards the roof. "No dead. All injured but... mostly broken bones?" he said quietly and held out his hand. A bullet appeared in it. The bullet floated up, then broke into 5 distinct pieces, like a jigsaw puzzle. He looked at Nowhere Man. "Seperate... these pieces are innocent enough. Plastic! Might pass as part of a childs puzzle! Placed together into one piece..."

The 'bullet' pieces floated back together, interlocking neatly together.

Nowhere Man finished up "...they form to make a bullet. These..." and he waved a hand at the downed Eurotrash goons "Aren't smart enough to come up with stuff like this. They're working with someone. The goons on the roof needed little encouragement to shoot at me..."

"...And the bullets went through you. Hitting each other. Did you know they were non lethal?" piped up Yeoman.

Nowhere Man simply looked back, not replying. Then he turned to Adjutant "Anyway, you have places to go, and so do we. Till next time."

Adjutant looked at the four of you, then nodded, resigned to letting you go. He gestured, and all of the downed Eurotrashers floated into the air clad in body casts of concrete and in Dominators case, steel.

"You're still Outlaws." he said, as Nowhere Man gestured for Yeoman, Frostbite and Stormwarden to come closer. "And if not me, then someone, will bring you in. Especially you, Nowhere Man."

Nowhere Man answered that by detaching what appeared to be twin earpieces and a small pack from himself, then tossed them to Adjutant. "Ask your bosses about that. And remember what side we're ALL on. The right one." he growled.

With that, Yeoman, Stormwarden, Frostbite and Nowhere Man vanished!

==========

...And reappeared... elsewhere!

It was like a 'negative' image of London. The four were stood on the battlefield of Battersea power station. Adjutant and the others were there, but frozen. Yeoman passed his hand through Dominator, and seemed ghost like!

Nowhere Man gasped, breathing out slightly with the effort. "Time has no meaning here. That said, I can only hold you in the Nowhere zone for a short time. Use that time to get where you need to be. If you can only walk, I suggest running. When time starts again you'll have teleported. But first..."

He reached into a belt pouch and pulled out a small pack. Inside were small gadgets, what looked like USB keys?

Nowhere Man held one up. "Press this..." he indicated a stud on the key. "...Rapidly 4 times in succession to summon help from all other keyholders. Press it 5 times in succession to state that you are in trouble and the situation is a trap. If a hostile has the key you should tell them 5 presses. The key will flash when it picks another signal up, and flash faster in the direction you need to go. Blue is the colour to help a keyholder. Red is a trap. Plug it into a computer to access secure chat/email, internet, information and maps. You'll find information on wanted criminals, trusted contacts and places to avoid, plus more. I update it often. I could track these, but I'm not interested in who you are behind the mask. That's your business, and I respect your privacy, completely. The only thing you do have to give me is your trust. To encode this key to you and only you I'll need a sample of dna."

He produced a small pack of Q-Tips. "Swab in the mouth then..." he brought out another small hand held machine. There was a usb slot on the side.

Holding up a hand to stifle questions he added "I'm not suggesting a team, more a 'team up' when opportunities and situations arise. I can tell who are the good people, having been in the game a long time. And you..."

He looked around at you all. "Are very good. Anyone who risks prison - or worse - to help others is what this country needs. Even him. In his own way..." he said, pointing to Adjutant.

"So. Questions? If you need to know something about me, I'll try to answer without... well, depends what you ask. I need all the help I can get to find out where that nuclear material has gone and you're the best I have." he growled.

==========

OOC Longggg post I know, and a breather at last from combat! I think it went very well, and future combats will go faster still. We'll figure out a procedure and rattle out a round every couple of days with some luck. For now, Nowhere Man is - sort of - offering you membership in a non-team. You may have to take a leap of faith though. This man is wanted for murder, brutality to criminals, breaking and entering government property... the list goes on. He's as dark, and sinister, as the newspapers say he is. And yet... even Adjutant, the foremost superhero in the country, seems to have a grudging respect for him...

Stormwarden [Guy St Ives]

"Strangeness. All of this." He pondered slightly then shrugged. "I'm in. I don't trust SMITE - I don't trust anyone who's not accountable, but things still have to be done around them. No, I'm in." He nodded to the others. "Call me...Stormwarden." He reached out and took one of the usb keyfobs, and popped it securely into an inside pocket.

Stormwarden looked over towards his new found friend. "I think you came in on foot? Over the bridge from the other side? I should be able to fly you over the Thames there, if you want, just say where."

Frostbite [Joe Rigdon]

Frostbite listened intently to what Nowhere man had to say, he still wasn't convinced but right now did he have much choice. Since he had these powers and knew he wanted to use the to make a difference in the country he loved....His thought trailed off.

As Stormwarden indicated his acknowledgement, Frostbite hesitated but only for a moment. He was used to putting both feet forward at once, as this current episode had demonstrated. "Yeah count me in to..." he said taking one of the USB keys after submitting to a swab. "So we are a non-team working for a Nowhere man..." His thought trailed off before returning a short nod of thanks at the man who might be a villain or hero, only time could tell.

Then as he stepped back and heard Stormwarden's offer of a lift, he nodded. "Yeah a lift would be good right about now. I know my adoring Smite fans might want a piece of me, but not tonight. I'll take that offer of a lift anyday."

ooc great end there Paul, loved it. Things are getting better and better...nice wrap up to a good warm up session.

Stormwarden [Guy St Ives]

Stormwarden smiled at his erstwhile friends comment. "Parting is such sweet sorrow. Come then, and, in the parlance of all those childhood comic strips..." Stormwarden clasped Frostbite securely. "up, up and away...." he finished as he lifted them both up and over the Thames.

==================
Nowhere Man and Yeoman
==================

The experienced heroes watch the newcomers go.

"Too trusting?" asked Yeoman.

Nowhere Man looked at the swabs he'd put into his little machine. It was a similar thing he'd used to get Albert Watkins aka Adjutants DNA, and ultimately, threaten to use against him. "One of the swabs in the bag is yours. Do you trust me?"

Yeoman turned, grinning. "No, but I don't trust anyone. Safest way to be. Besides, trust is such a strong word. I prefer 'I would be happy to place my life in your hands and know that you'll always do the right thing, despite what everyone else says about you.' So, not trust, but something close." he grins, winking.

"Hmmph." growls the dark clad man. "Get gone. I need to make some enquiries. Hope those two have enough about them to insert the key into a computer when the green flashing 'insert key' symbol flashes. We don't have much time. We need to find out who bought that nuclear 'waste' from Eurotrash, and why."

"You don't think it's waste?" asked Yeoman, suddenly serious, and concerned.

"I intercepted confidential military emails two days ago. Weapons grade plutonium, stolen en route to it's new home in a missile. About 40 megatons worth. What's worse is that it should light up geiger counters for miles around. It doesn't. I suppose that accounts for why we all still have hair." rasped the Nowhere Man.

Yeoman nodded, frowning. "Is there nowhere that's safe from you? Computer hacking as well? I'll watch for the key flashing."

"Do that. I have a special errand or two for our new friends to run. You I need to ask about in your taxi driver guise for word on the street about those bullets."

"You know about that?" Yeoman was genuinely surprised.

"I wasn't sure it was you. I am now." said Nowhere Man. "Times almost up."

Shaking his head, Yeoman grinned, then soared off into the night sky.

Nowhere Man watched him go, then turned to look at the frozen Adjutant. "When the shadows darken, will it be you that shines the light for others to follow? Or perhaps... a more unlikely source?" He looked up to where Stormwarden and Frostbite had flown...

He turned to go. He had a lot to do. And some swabs to completely incinerate...
