captain America first avenger trailer up

Just watched the trailer - was of the opinion it'd be a better film than Thor and it looks like they've put a lot more thought and time in this one, even if it is CGI'd to the eyeballs. Not sure how well it will do but I'm hoping it will be enough to encourage Disney (Owners of Marvel) to keep making these films. There have been enough clunkers (even though most of them made loads of money) in the superhero genre that the bubble will burst eventually and people will get sick of them, so enjoy this run/golden time chaps as it can't last! Probably two or three years more I'd say, then Hollywood will find a new obsession...

I agree. Not sure about keeping the Stark link but willing to see how that plays out.
Still think Green Lantern and Thor movies will be better though.

The Thor game looks rubbish. Not sure what they were thinking but the landscapes seem flat and lifeless, your standard beat up button mashing game (I'm playing through Spiderman - Shattered Dimensions with my son on PS3 at moment, and my thumbs are developing callouses from all the button mashing. That said the Spiderman Noir and 2099 sections are pretty good, and the Amazing/Ultimate sections aren't bad, but nowhere in any marvel universe should Spidey be able to take down Juggernaut with his fists... ). Cap America looks better, but might have had a better atmosphere if it weren't so sunny and bright in the outdoor scenes. Both games are a little iffy on graphics though, as if they were knocked out a couple of years ago in some parts. The Cap film will do well if it follows the Ultimate version of Cap though. By far the best, and no where near as goody two shoes moms apple pie as 616 Cap. Ones to watch, but I don't have great hopes for the Thor film either Hope I'm wrong (and about the new Conan film, because I'm dreading that, even though I will go see it)

On a slightly different note, this isn't the Cap film but footage of the game, (and the Thor game as well) anyway check out this Cap stuff, its awesome, game looks great. And if it bares any relation to the movie it makes it look good to,

I've never seen the original, and from what Dave said I'm not likely to either. But I think Joe Johnston wanted to feature the period in which grew up and fought in heavily. I think the film ends with him being found in ice, hence the lead in to the new film. And from what I've seen, it wouldn't be a million miles away from what we know and love on the forum right now and or the pulp comic era that Cap burst upon in the 40's. Throw in the Ultimates cap, more rooted in reality, and I think we get some idea of where this is going. I have faith this is going to be worth it.

The two problems with the last Cap movie was one: They made the Red Skull Italian so that they could sell the flick in Germany. And two: Cap lost every single fight in the movie including the very last fight. He had to have help in that last fight in order to win. That wasn't Cap.

You have a point. The cheesy Cap film from the 80s had him waking up in modern day, by setting it in WWII (and presumably freezing him in ice at the end of the film) it might be more of a rip roaring pulp/war action movie. I'll change my mind status to 'keeping an open...'

Have mixed feelings about this - it has the cheesy feel of the ultra low budget Cap America film from a few decades ago - but maybe that's down to the costume and the shield. It might be one of those that doesn't translate well to film. Saying that, the Watchmen film (said to be 'impossible to film' by Alan Moore if I recall) was, in my opinion, brilliant and no one went to see that, so we'll have to see. Cap America, Hulk, Thor, Iron Man all lead ins to the Avengers movie, which is the one I dont want them to screw up.

You know I think Chris Evans might do a good job after all, as long as he isnt too jokey. As funny as he is cap isnt like that.

I'm really excited about the New Captain America Movie - assuming its done right.
