PS, was maybe still is, a military magazine designed to help with the folks working their motorpools. Will Eisner, of Spirit fame, was asked to draw the covers and I think the interiors as well, to help the less literate men enjoy learning about the vehicles they maintain.

Norman Rockwell, as you can see from his signature, was a very well regarded artist in his day. He created most of the Saturday Evening Posts covers for years and years. Prints of his covers, especially his holiday ones, are still in circulation today, even among people who have no idea what the SEP is or was.
