Getting bolder, and with Bulletman weakening the creatures with Gravity Girl applying pressure with her power, the DICE agents spread out and poured on fire with guns. Suddenly the battle changed, and the Ani-Men were being pushed back! NoMan, as a Cheetah, sped about, dragging those who dried to escape the influence of the various forces on them back into range. Unhampered by the need for Lunarium, he enjoyed the full speed and power of the Ani-Woman he'd copied with none of the weaknesses!

OOC you have a choice - you can continue to hold them back and even drive them off outside, go into the building to help those being hunted through the corridors of Bletchley, or hook up with Lionheart and Sunburst to see if they need help. Whilst the Ani-Men are in range of Bulletmans AND Gravity Girls powers, they are sitting ducks and enough bullets will cut them down. It's not fair, and its not pretty, but this is war...

"See if you can surround them," Bulletman yells down to the DICE agents. "IF they are in range of my powers, you can take them down! So surround as many as you can and chop them up! Then do it again. Let the V-Ship take care of those on the fringe. Their guns should take them down!"

Though he felt no animosity against a creature wholly owned and controlled by Bedlamm, neither did he own it any quarter. Speeding up again he pulled up to launch a series of blows against the creature.

OOC:
ok run up and punch it down, so that it doesn't need to be chased after as much as I can, if any frames left catch up to the others.

As he was about to suggest to the King's men they stay put until he'd dealt with the other Bedlamm and the wolf pack Sentinel's message came through.

smaug wrote:'Calling all vanguard, the houses of parliament will soon be under attack. I'll do what I can but Im afraid I may not make it in time. V ship is going down, on intercept now.

"Blast it, just feel like we're just putting out fires!" Frostbite said aloud to himself. Suddenly aware he wasn't alone, he told the king and the guards what there was outside lurking. For now staying put might be safest, until Frostbite could return and deal with Bedlamm. But right now the Houses of Parliment needed saving.

Stepping outside, so as not to alarm the king, Frostbite again called on the dark power, knowing he didn't have a lot of time, he needed to first of all teleport to the location Sentinel flashed to him and then deal with the problem he faced. Before lending a hand to Sentinel.

OOC:
ok better juice me up with 8 points so I can then buy a high enough grade of teleport and then deal with the flying creature. Alternatively I could buy in levels of flight and go super sonic or faster to fly there and grab the unlucky Nazi on the way through, blast him into the middle of next week, grab Sentinel and get us all to the V ship double fast. Not sure what is most cost effective, but will go with whatever you suggest and of course assume the use of Hero points if needed ;-)

Bulletman uses his power to continually supress the Ani-mens lunarium powered abilities and calls on the V-Ship to make a pass with the rail guns. Gravity Girl adds to the woes of the creatures as they back off under withering gunfire, and NoMan continues to herd them towards the 'zone of death'.

With a call Gravity Girl looks up, waves to the distant V-Ship and shouts to the DICE operatives "Incoming!"

Bulletman stays as clear as he can knowing full well how inaccurate the Rail guns are. Designed to fire a spreading shot in vacuum, atomosphere and gravity played havoc with their accuracy and punching power meaning that unless the ship was close to the target, it would miss completely!

This time though, they flew in, hovered, and lowered towards the Ani-men on the ground.

Gravity Girl turned away as the the V-Ship hammered round after round into the evil creatures! The BOOM! BOOM! BOOM! rang out and sprayed into the grounds of the manor tearing up the turf and those stood on it. With nowhere to go, and without their full range of powers, the creatures were smashed into bloody pulp. Moments later, the hum of the V-Ship was the only sound heard here but elsewhere the DICE personnel fought a desperate battle to fight off the horde of creatures!

Waving Bulletman down, Gravity Girl wiped a msear of mud from her grim face. "Good work." she said quietly. "We need to get people out of here, then get in there and mop those creatures up. We could do with more firepower in close quarters, as they are on us before our powers can be of much use. This isn't over yet, but it's a start."

Bulletman looked at the mass of bodies. Then he saw the gleam of metal in one mangled pupled corpse...

Laying into the creature, Lionheart sped over (1 fr) then hammered downwards at it!

OOC 3 frames to attack... Roll 10, hit, 2 accuracy 39htc/3=13htc. Roll 11, hit, 3 accuracy 13htc after dividers. It is Staggered. Roll 20 (doubled) hit 12 accuracy, 59htc/3=19htc. Out.

Lionheart looked into the crater he'd pounded the creature into. It was out, would be for hours. Its great form was crumpled, pounded by the man from the future who could smash metal like paper! He looked over to where Gravity Girl and the others were, then clucthed his head! SCREAMING! PAIN! TERROR! His telempathy wouldn't have picked up the emotions without conscious thought, aside from the fact they were so brutal and desperate!

He heard gunshots from somewhere inside near the infirmary, then they went silent...

The kings men looked uncertain when Frostbite declared he had to go. The King himself said "You do your adopted nation a great service young man! If only America would get its bally act together and get into the war, eh?"

One of the men came up "Sir? You mention others out there? Creatures? We have guards posted. Would you suggest we stay put or get the King to another location? After all, there's..."

HOOOOOWWWWWWLLLLLLLLL!!!!!

First one, then another howl rung out! The echo off the hills made it sound distant, but Frostbite knew that not to be the case! And there was more than one of the creatures!

He summoned the Dark Power from within, determined to do his best to fight these fires!

OOC 8 points, plus growth is 11. This will be close, as usual. Frosty gets 2,1 (!) + Ego 12. I assume a Hero point will be needed. Dark power gets 6,1, total 18. Hero point for Frostbite adds 2,7. Check passed. Dark power growth is 4, Hero points down to 6. Dark power points 1,10, 2,7,10,10,9,7 (56 plus 2d10, 5,2 = 63 x 2 = 126 points). With the King in imminent danger not sure on how you want to do this. teleport? Fly? Stay and protect the King? *countdown music playing in the background...*

Bulletman looks over at the gleaming metal, thinking it might be the Lunarium he worked against. He is unware of the call to save Parliment as he is not one of the Vanguard.

question: Can Bulletman manipulate the Lunarium in his range? Call it to him and make it form into a single lump or something like that? Sort of like what Silver Sentinel does with all metals. Be a lot easier to extract all the pieces of Lunarium from these mangled bodies if he could do that. Or is he just limited to making its energy collapse or grow bigger?

He quickly shouted for Gravity girl to cover Beth, hoping that the sun would soon shine so as to help her get back in the fight. And speed off in the direction where his Telempathy had been triggered. He let his mind scan in front of him, he didn't need to run straight into an ambush or trap after all.

All thoughts of the Houses of Parliament flew from his mind, as he realised the danger the King was in. There had to be a way to protect the King and still get to Parliament but he could see it was going to cost him.

"Sir take my hand and your body guards as well."

With that Frostbite used the dark power at work within him to gain a sufficient level of teleportation skill to teleport to Balmoral. Then leaving them, shaking but safe, he teleported once again to the menace over Parliament full intent on teleporting the problem into the Atlantic before teleporting back a third time to help Sentinel if at all possible.

OOC:
Ok yeah king I think would be a much heavier blow to the Nations moral than Parliament - but its a close thing. So trying to pour it on here to try and stave off the worst that can be done. Teleport major so that I can get around if I've dark power points left, I'll hold them for the moment as this is bound to be far from straight forward.

Bulletman, Gravity Girl, NoMan

OOC Simply being able to magnify/diminish the energy output of Lunarium would be a poor power (though probably what constitutes grade 1 in GH. Oops. Better not go there again.) So yeah, you can move a quantity of Lunarium (bear in mind the stuff isn't exactly a commonplace thing) anywhere from one spot to another in a 20m range in one action. You can also pluck (with a bit of a wiggle) the lunarium beads (and thats all they are) from the neural implants out of the bodies.

Bulletman concentrated, ignoring the distant rattle of gunfire. It took some effort (a few rounds) but finally, after lunarium spheres shot through the air to float in front of him, he held a ping pong ball sphere of Lunarium, the powerful, volatile, amazing metal found on the moon more than any other place in the known universe! It was a green glowing rock, and Bulletman knew that by concentrating he could see much rarer trace elements of red in there. He frowned. The red was somehow more potent, and even being near it made his hand tingle! The DICE scientists would kill for a sample - if they still lived.

"Stop playing about!" shouted Gravity Girl. "There are more of these things round the side!" She touched a finger to the earpiece the team wore to communicate to the V-Ship and from there to each other. "This is Major Steed... Gravity Girl. Get round to the south east side of the Manor! Support our troops with suppressing fire until we get there! When I give the word, cut the shooting and we'll set them up for you to knock down!"

NoMan sped off like a bullet leaving Gravity Girl to scoop up a couple of pistols and turn to the rescued soldiers. "Get out of there. Rendezvous at the Newport Pagnell barracks in whatever vehicles you can find - that truck!" she pointed. "Go! Get the wounded out of here! Remember, this is Alpha 1 clearance security! If anyone asks, direct their questions to the Ministry in London!"

OOC any plans for the lunarium or happy to follow Gravity Girls lead? The fight isn't over but you've taken out a sizeable chunk of the forces outside the manor. One more group then it's to cleaning the inside. Problem is, those things are finding it easier to fight in close quarters inside.

ooc: Thinking about making explosive bullets with the stuff or the equivalent. If that isn't possible, keeping it for when I need a big bomb. Otherwise, give it to the scientists to experiment with later ... if there is a later.

Moving as quick as a flash (OOC well, not quite, but you get the idea...) Lionheart sped through the rubble strewn corridors of the Manor. He saw the empty bullet casings, the shattered plaster and smashed furniture, as well as doors that dangled from hinges, floorboards and ceilings that had been smashed and partially caved in, and knew that it was the end of DICE in its current form. They had operated here, in the heart of England, with little fear of that which the Vanguard thought, never once thinking they would become a target. They'd been wrong, and now the price was being paid... in blood...

He sped into the infirmary and looked across the blood spattered beds, full of dismembered meat that had been patients. Some had been Justiciars, injured in the line of duty and now slain where they lay. An anger built in Lionheart, and he was eager to be done with this grisly business. He sped across the ruined infirmary to the corridor where the barricade had been... It was smashed to smithereens, much as those who'd hidden behind it were now. The creatures, without Lionheart to stop them, had burst in, hacking and cutting, and were on their way to seek Wynn out!

A wounded DICE agent groaned as he held a hand over his shredded gut. Coughing blood he saw Lionhearts shocked face and shook his head. "Don't... blame ... yourself... they came at us... *cough* too many... guns near useless..." All about, bodies were strewn. Many were still alive but horribly wounded. Some were clearly dead, the result of superhuman paws swatting heads from shoulders... It was an awful, ghastly scene. "Go... save... others... we barely slowed them. They want... Forbes... Dawson... Wynn..."

How on earth would they know where those three were? Hadn't Frostbite seen to their safety? He would have done that, surely?

Down the corridor and deeper into the basement of the building there came sounds like thumping. Lionhearts superhuman senses were keen and he suspected the creatures were trying to break through the floor, but for what purpose?

"Below... Manor... tunnels... maybe where Wynn and others... ahhhhh..." the mans head fell to the side as he died. The others around wouldn't last long without medical help, but the creatures in the pack somewhere ahead were determined and driven by some force that caused them to ignore their pack animal instincts and feed on their kill. There was no other explanation as to their ability to track Wynn and the others through stone!

OOC Help the wounded here or go stop the Ani-Men pack before they can break through the floor into the tunnels below?

OOC Grade 4 Teleportation will get you to where you need to go and give the ability to teleport targets where they need to go. With this grade you won't teleport into anything solid. Costs 65 Dark power.

Frostbite consulted a map, getting a feel for the direction and distance he needed to travel. Somehow he knew that the Dark Power would get him to where he needed to go. Linking hands with the King and his staff (summoned from all over the great stately home, and they hurried when called) Frostbite concentrated, then all in the room vanished! (OOC 15htc cost for a room full of people)

They reappeared on the lawns of Balmoral, with a light misty rain coming down. Without waiting for words Frostbite vanished again (OOC 5htc) to reappear over the Houses of Parliament!

OOC Switch to Sentinels Thread and I'll update his situation later (it's 2am, need to sleep affraid )

Oh dear no email updates for this thread, just chanced upon it by accident. So hit and miss these email updates sometimes...Anyway!

Lionheart turned to the man, knowing he'd given his all for King and Country,"I won't let your death be in vain..."

It galled him so much to leave these men behind, they deserved so much more. But he was needed elsewhere or all their sacrifices would be for nothing. Besides Lionheart knew he couldn't save them, only comfort them in their dying moments. Something he felt he couldn't do, if he was to honour what they gave.

Speeding off again, he sought out the source of the sound, determined not only to end this, but to see Bedlamm stopped once and for all.

OOC This might be a snatched/rushed message but its been that kind of week unfortunately. At work at moment so will post what I can...

Bulletman knew that with time he could mould the Lunarium into bullets, but it would need shaping and honing to be able to be fired from a gun. Time he didn't have at the minute! Other options included letting Gravity Girl make the lunarium super dense then increasing the power output so it exploded, but there was no way to tell how devastating that explosion would be! He flew round the corner of the house and saw a half dozen DICE agents - Peelers in suits and bowler hats - firing their inadequate Webley revolvers at four oncoming Ani-Men whilst they tried to evacuate wounded into the back of a truck!

The Ani-Men were two wolves, a multi limbed hairy spider person, and what looked to be an snake hybrid, with tiny useless arms, scaled human legs and a long tail! They would be on the Peelers in moments and the brave agents found their guns were of little or no use!

OOC NoMan is on the scene, Gravity Girl there in one round. You are 30m away from the Snake Man, 20m from the Wolves and 25m from the Spider. They are closing in on a circle of Peelers who are loading wounded into a truck and will be on them in the next round unless the Vanguard can stop them! Initiative 10 Heroes 3 Bad guys

On another note thanks for your patience chaps. Night shifts are hateful things. This is the last shift for a week so will be back up to speed at some point tomorrow after sleep...

ooc: Does Bulletman still have his lunarium gun or any gun?

Bullteman yells out, "Hang on chaps! I will weaken them so you can kill them. Go for head and heart shots if you can!"

Fly above all the creature so that they are in range of his Lunarium control powers and dampen them down again. Or would it be easier/faster to mentally command the Lunarium out of their bodies and to join the bit he already collected?

Senses straining, Lionheart sped into the darkness. He followed a trail of death as he saw hapless soldiers and Peelers dumped in the corridor where they'd gallantly tried to stop the rushing monsters! Down, down, into the lower levels of the Manor sped Lionheart. Though inhumanly agile and fast, there was only so fast he could run in the clogged corridors, whether it be climbing over rubble or moving around bodies on slippery floors. Still, it was only a moments, what felt like hours for Lionheart at his speed, before he came around a corner that led to stairs going down into the deepest part of the building and came face to face with a Gorilla-Man and what appeared to be some kind of Badger/Wolverine hybrid, all claws, bad snarling attitude and blood spattered fangs. They blocked the corridor and made it clear they weren't about to pass.

Lionheart smiled, knowing that whilst he couldn't help those he'd passed, he could avenge them, except...

"He's not like us." rasped the Gorilla, startling Lionheart.

"No, but he's the most powerful human being on the Planet! Imagine what we could do with HIS power!" replied the other.

"All humans are fragile. They rot. I don't know how the usurped make them live so long. They are... weak! This one, you will see! WEAK!" and with that the Gorilla levelled an arm to fire a dark power blast at Lionheart!

OOC Lionheart is impossible to surprise, for the most part, so initiative... 8 Lionheart, 6 Bad guys. You have 1 frame, they have 3, then you have 4 frames. You are within striking distance (5m, not even a hop for LH) if you want to attack physically.

OOC Bulletman has a handgun. The ray guns that fire high intensity light through lunarium are locked away in the Boffins testing areas, probably a bad move in hindsight. To pull the Lunarium individually out of the bodies of these things requires attack rolls and one target at a time. Even then, you're pulling away with your own strength. Luckily, Bulletman is superhuman strong. I'll assume you fly over them.

Flying over so he could affect the two Wolves, Bulletman sees the creatures stumble, shake their heads and look about, as if seeking the cause of their malady. The snake and spider, out of the range of Bulletman, press the attack!

Gravity Girl uses her power on the wolves and they cry out as their own weight becomes too heavy to hold up! Bullets ring out from guns as the Peelers unload round after round into the Wolves, but find the things fairly resistant still! They stagger back, arms shielding head and chest, with every bullet drawing blood and weakening the things.

NoMan races up to the spider and attacks!

OOC 2 attacks, Roll 13 (Hit for 4 accuracy) and 11 (hit for 2 accuracy) scoring minor wounds on the Spider and getting its attention.

The Snake creature pauses, and Bulletman sees it shudder... it looks up at him, then at NoMan, levelling a stubby arm at him! What did it think to do with...

Suddenly a beam of pure intensified darkness shot from the stunted limb!

OOC Dark Power blast at NoMan. 50 points, with x6 damage, -5DD and WC6. Roll 6,9 (15) + DC6 + WC 6=27-17=10 accuracy x 6. NoMan decides (he has to or he'll die!) to dodge! Roll 4, +6 dodge -6WC means Accuracy is reduced to 6. x6 means NoMan takes 36htk (after dividers reduced). He's alive, but a shot like that again will kill him! Had he not dodged, he'd be dead...

The Peelers blast away at the Wolfmen. Whilst Bulletman holds them in thrall they are ill equipped to survive such an onslaught, but tough enough that it will take dozens of bullets! Gravity Girl holds them in place, and the Spider creature turns to NoMan...

OOC Roll 8, missed, Roll 19, hits for 9 Accuracy. NoMan decides to dodge again... Roll 6. He dodges the spiders bite completely, but is in trouble. Initiative Heroes 7, Bad Guys 4. The Wolfmen are tied down and dying so long as GG and Bulletman can hold then for 1 action. The Spider is wounded, the Snake not at all and using the Dark Power. NoMan is badly injured and another shot will kill him. Bulletman is in the air over the wolfmen and to affect the Snake he'd have to break off his attack on them. You have 2 frames, then the bad guys go...

Since Gravity Girl is keeping them pinned to the ground, Bulletman will come to the aide of NoMan and blank down the powers of the monster attacking him. Don't think Bulletman has seen a dark power blast so has no idea what it is.

Seeing his colleague down, Bulletman turns, soaring through the air (OOC won't quibble over a few metres) and uses his power to attack the Snake creature before it can finish NoMan off!

Behind him, the Wolves feel their strength and power come back, and are able to shrug off Gravity Girls weight manipulation! Furthermore, bullets that had been spinning them about and staggering them just seemed to bruise or ping off with a puff of dust!

The Snake creature laughed out loud "Think you mortal that I have need for that... eh?" it spluttered, glancing at hands that became stringy, arms that shrivelled and skin that sagged! "What?" said the creature... a heartbeat before it died of old age, and all its organs gave out!

The Dark Power was potent indeed, but it came with a price that only the Vanguard were able to pay, seemingly. When the Lunarium was nulled in the creatures body it became less able to withstand the ravages placed on it by using the Dark Power, and so fell victim to it!

Bulletman turned and muttered "Oh no" behind his helmet as the Wolves, freed from the confines of having a great weight pressed on them and no superhuman strength to carry it, sprinted forwards! One launched itself into a group of Peelers, instantly turning an unfortunate agents head into a red mist! The other barged two aside to head straight at Gravity Girl! She cried out and fell back as the creature smashed into her, and the pair tumbled in a mass of arms and legs, the huge creature ripping and tearing at his foe!

(OOC this depends on responses - see below)Just then something struck Bulletman (OOC roll 10,9 (19) hit for 9 accuracy)! It looked to be white strands of sticky goo, and he followed the trail to the spider creatures abdomen, where the sticky webbing led to! What in the...? Just then the creature flicked its abdomen and Bulletman started to spin - getting wrapped up as he spun - towards the Spiders deadly embrace!

OOC Any response to the Webbing? Parry wouldn't be any good unless you have a weapon or energy blast to somehow stop it, or attempt to dodge, it's going to get very gummy for Bulletman!

ooc: Got a pistol but don't think that will be affective to Parry and his Flight ability isn't very dodging at the moment. So let's take the webbing.

Bulletman actually used his flight ability to increase moving while at the same time he damped down the Lunarium on the spider-man he was being dragged/flying down to.

action: Damp down his power and use strength and flight to smash into the spider-man. And hope reducing his Lunarium powers also weakens the webbing so he can break free after smashing into it, and punch its lights out.

Bulletman spun like a top in the air as the web wrapped around him! It was like being wrapped in glue that set to the strength of thick steel cable! What the...?

His flight had him bob about just off the floor like a kite, and the spider dug in its four legs, waiting with the four arms to encircle Bulletman in its deadly embrace!

He THWUMPED into the floor, hard (OOC took 5htc) with an impact that would have shattered an ordinary man! With his flight pulling against the web, and the spider/man pulling against that, it was a standoff! Slowly though, he was being reeled in!

Bulletman desperately tried to stay calm - this thing had huge dripping mandibles! One bit from those and... He concentrated, dampening the Lunarium implant in the things neck!

Suddenly he took off, arms still pinned, and yanked the Spider into the air! The Web broke off at its abdomen, and it tumbled to the floor from 10m up! Bulletman grinned, but a glance up turned that into a groan!

He crashed into the trees with an explosion of leaves, smashing through branches and clattering into a trunk, crashing to the floor! For a couple of breaths he lay still, then moved as best he could.

The webbing had set as hard as steel!

Just then he heard something through the trees. He looked about, cursing as his helmet had fallen lopsided across his face. Jiggling it about he saw a figure in a white coat in the trees some 100m distant. He was stood near a truck, and a Wolf creature dragged a terrified prisoner from it! The man in the white coat gestured, and the Wolf creature turned the prisoner around, then reached up with a large syringe, pointing it to the fellows neck where it joined the spine...

Bedlamm!

There were two other trucks parked up in the trees, though these appeared to be empty - clearly those prisoners had already been sent to destroy Bletchley park, and now this batch would finish it off!

OOC Bulletman is encircled in a steel hard rope/web from the shoulders to his waist. It's set rock hard, like a resin but with the strength of steel cable! Back at the manor the battle rages on, but NoMan and Gravity Girl are in big, big trouble. Bulletman has found (inadvertantly) where the Ani-Men have come from.

Bulletman knew he had to quit trying to save everyone but he needed to stop this menace. This guy was responsible for making these monsters and looked like he was making more of them out of innocent people! He decided to take out the man in the lab coat at all costs!

actions: Using his abilities, he will fly into the doctor at high speed, trying to smash him up or into the ground. The webbing that traps his arms and part of his body could actually help him here with being something like extra armor or even extra damage if he smashes the man with it when he hits him. So he won't try to break the webbing ... yet.
