Re: American Youth
ooc: Paul if you could do your magic when you get time, to translate this into your usual character sheet setup, I would appreciate it. All NPC heroes used the same character creation rules, so they got free stuff too and costs reflect that.

background: Sgt Johnson was picked by a patriotic witch to become a Champion for America after all the destruction brought about by the various supervillains and the kidnapping of the President. But his abrasive DI Persona came forward when originally talking to her so the hero form she was going to give him, to teach him to be a bit more polite when talking to a lady, was changed during the ritual. So instead of giving him an adult form, she gave him a boy's form in the early stages of puberty. She also gave him a magic phrase to say when changing forms. He has to say "My mother raised me better and I must always speak politely to a lady!" He is totally embarrassed to be saying this to change form and will usually go out of hearing of others to change.
He also lost, maybe temporarily, his ability to speak dozens of languages and his Sharp Eye as part of the cost of becoming a superhero when in superhero form.

Re: American Youth
OOC Sorry for the delay. Aside from work busting my balls with long shifts at dumb times my first day off (yesterday) involved some plumbing as the washing machine decided to die, locking all my work stuff in it. Eventually sorted it ouot (and got washing machine working) but lets just say there was a lot of mopping up to do and pipes to unblock...
Costs don't work out - the costs you list don't include the base cost for the powers so the writeup is a fair chunk out but I would say to you (as the GM) don't worry about balancing characters with points. That way lies madness. I used to do that (all the time) but the players eventually started getting very good at min/maxing and coming up with inventive ways to get the maximum bang for buck whilst walking the line of what was reasonable within the rules. It's a thing that point buy brings on. Anyway, I started to make characters based one what was needed to fit in rather than what fit in the points. The DC characters in the various editions of the game sometimes don't add up right. Kid Flash and Raven in the New Teen Titans for example, a team supposed to be in the 500-1000 point range. Heck, Robin was over 1000 points if I recall (Changeling the cheapest I think).
I'll get round to the alter ego at some point, want to get some updates done then I have to update my CV and send it off for a job application (been chewing that over for a month) and head out later to see my kids so need to crack on with what I can!
