Sorry TDM7 I completely missed the fact you were evening posting. Anyway welcome great to have new blood.
Paul has been an excellent GM, despite real life responsibilities, and its only a shame this game hasn't come to the wider audience it deserves.
I have no familiarity at all with the Squadron UK/Golden Heroes game system rules that you are using
Speaking strictly for myself, although I am familiar with the rules I am more interested in a good story, and roleplaying my way through and the rules serve as a means to make what we do consistent and fair. We have no problem with rules unfamiliarity but the rules are fun and easy to learn. But what is important is that you enjoy yourself and keep up as best you can

PS I play Frostbite, but I guess you might have already known that.

Re: New Members
I think that I can work with that origin. Thanks for clearing that up for me.
We'll move to the "New Characters" thread to begin work on building the character since the name indicates that this would be the best place to do it.

and if the Vanguard (the super team) succeed that would leave your character (and David M's) in a world/time they don't know...
I'm still hoping to go with a new origin for Putty in every universe!
Even got his new origin figured out when and if we ever put the world right again. And since he is a brand new hero, with a brand new identity, he won't know the other Putty saved the universe. Am I perverse or what?

Re: New Members
As with what happened to Davids character, yours will have grown up in a Nazi conquered Europe, oblivious to any save the teachings of the Nazi state. Secretly, you aid the resistance in your own way, with others, either by spreading propaganda about the Nazis to spread unrest, or by hindering their objectives in your own small way. Then, about a week ago, you fell ill, a mystery illness the Doctors couldn't explain.
Now, you awake, and whilst your family and friends are relieved, you know things have changed for your character forever. For starters, you were never able to <insert superpower> before... How? Why? Those remain a mystery, but you will be drawn to others like you, destined to try and fight off an invasion of evil from another dimension. First of course, time needs to be put right - and if the Vanguard (the super team) succeed that would leave your character (and David M's) in a world/time they don't know...
Frostbite and Putty are in the Fantasy realm seeking the Holy Grail. All the others are still in Nazi occupied England.

And the rest we can fill in as we go There's a free version of the rules from http://www.rpgnow.com/product_info.php?products_id=29201&it=1 which covers character generation, but as mentioned - a rough outline of the sort of character you'd like to play and maybe the other players can come up with some suggestions too. Anyhow, welcome to the forum

Thanks for the warm welcome and the offer to assist with character creations and game play. Give me a day or two to come up with a character idea and we'll see what we can do with it.
Just to make sure that I understand the concept, please confirm that I'm to make the background from a modern age superhero world and that they will be dropped into these strange worlds of fantasy creatures and Nazi-dominated Europe.

Re: New Members
Nice to hear from you I used to play in one of the All Star games with David, be a few years ago though now so I guess it's either a new game or maybe there's been a roster change of players?
Yeah, that group sort of died on the vine. The new group is http://groups.yahoo.com/group/allstarsatwar/
There is both a free version of the game rules that we use and a very low cost version which includes all the GM stuff needed to run a campaign at the website our GM has listed.

With regards character creation if you want to outline the type of character you'd like to play - powers, skills, special abilities (strength, agility etc) we can cook something up for you. As for the rules, simply describe what you'd like to do, and we'll take it from there. A basic rundown of combat is:
Rounds are split into four 'frames' (as in 'comic book frame')
A hand to hand attack takes 1 frame up, as does movement (you move a certain distance/frame)
Using a power takes 2 frames (known as an action)
'Blunt' damage is taken from Hits to Coma. At zero, you're unconscious. Killing damage is taken from Hits to Kill. At zero, you're character dies...
Re: New Members
Hello everyone. I guess I'm the newest member, having just registered after a few weeks(?) of visiting under Guest status. This board was brought to my attention by David McMahon via his post in one of the games in which we both participate which is based on the All-Star Squadron of classic Golden Age superheroes. For those who are also familiar with that game, I usually play my favorite character -- The Doll Man.
I've been enjoying what I've read so far with these storylines. The added graphics and illustrations are a nice touch and show the level of committment that you all have put into the game. I got a kick out of the borrowing from other sources, such as the Nazi version of what appears to be the Doom Patrol (another favorite comic of mine).
I haven't applied for participation because I'm not sure what I could offer. I have no familiarity at all with the Squadron UK/Golden Heroes game system rules that you are using (I don't think that I've ever seen them before). However, if you guys want to do all of the heavy lifting as far as the character creation and keeping track of the in-game actions as to what can and can't be done, I could probably handle the role-playing aspect of it and possibly join in for a storyline or two.
Keep up the good work!

Re: New Members
Haven't heard anything from the new members. I think maybe we should set a time limit then prune non posters out. When new people join and don't post, I'm not sure what the point is, and I can't tell if they'll spam the forum to death in between me logging on or not. That said, I have another 'application' to ok today. I think I'll have to set some kind of question to confound any bots trying to get in...
Of course, my paranoia might be ill-founded and our new members are just shy?

Re: New Members
So how are our new folks coming along with their characters? I got a couple of emails from Firestarter that I hope helped in creating his PC.

Re: New Members
the four (five if Harry ever comes back) players have known each other (online gaming wise, never met in person!) for years - not sure how long, maybe one of the others can say, but we're always open to new faces
Yeah, one of these days I will win the Lottery and I will take a trip across the Pond to meet with you folks.
Welcome new folks!

We've had a couple of new registrations recently - just want to say hi to you guys, there's only a few of us here (I like it that way to make sure spammers don't take hold!) Feel free, when you get the chance, to introduce yourselves and say hello, if you will, and if you like what you see, want to join up in the game (which has been running a lot longer than the start date of this forum - we had to swap when the previous home of the game went AWOL for a while) we'll get you a character sorted and into the game. Any questions, recaps, thoughts on how the game works or progresses, holler - the four (five if Harry ever comes back) players have known each other (online gaming wise, never met in person!) for years - not sure how long, maybe one of the others can say, but we're always open to new faces
Cheers, Paul
