Pathfinder Online
Pathfinder Online is working up to a release in a year. Currently, they are in the Alpha stage of testing with players. As such, I have two invites to the Alpha Access if anyone is interested. Just send me your email address and I will send you the invite. It will start this Thursday night and go through most of the weekend. Then it goes down while they upgrade for the following weekend.
Any takers?

Re: Pathfinder Online
Thanks for the invite, but am up at 0200 all this week Next week, I have the week off (and family disasters pending, I hope to not only step up the pace but also restart the pulp era game I put on hold a couple of years ago, if you guys are willing/happy to go at it again...)
At first glance it looks different to WoW and similar Fantasy RPGs, what with player driven economy and all that entails. Might mean noobs get 'frozen out' with several big factions ruling the roost, but that remains to be seen. I think EVE Online has a similar thing going on, with ensuing massive battles that cost players in terms of losing hard earned (paid for) game progress when their ship goes up in smoke...
Couldn't find any details about whether it was free/pay to win, or pay to play, or how otherwise they intend to make their money.
Sounds interesting though. Did you back it through Kickstarter?

Re: Pathfinder Online
yep, backed it through kickstarter. The Alpha is free but once it goes into Early Enrollment, there is a monthly fee. So if I get a new set of invites, I will let your know. We got folks from various countries in Europe as well as in Australia playing the Alpha too. So even at weird hours, you should find somebody on to team up with.
The new build comes out this weekend and brings us closer to what the game is supposed to be like.
Pulp? Heck yeah!

Sorry Dave just realised there had been replies, and of course I got nothing. Anyway thanks for the offer, but too busy with what I got at the mo, if things change down the line I'll let you know. Let us know how you get on, interested to see how this works out.

Re: Pathfinder Online
BTW, there is now a Buddy System up for Pathfinder Online MMO. You get 15 days free to try out the game and see if you want to play it.
It is still in the development stage and will be for another 1-3 years. However, if you like crowdforging and helping to design the a MMO, there is enough content to keep many a gamer happy. It is an open sandbox game, which means that there are very little quests and directed adventures for you, instead you have to set your own goals.
If you are interested, send me an email or PM with your email address and I will send you an invite. I have two to start with.
You can find out more here: https://goblinworks.com/

And I am part of the Stoneroot Glade village [characters are Bunibuni and Magistar], so if you come onboard, give us a try. http://kabalgaming.com/home
We have other UK players in our village, so you should be able to find someone online most times.

Re: Pathfinder Online
I burned out on World on Warcraft quite a few years back now and don't play any mmorpgs any more (burned out on City of Heroes, DC Universe online, another fantasy one that I forget...)
Bearing in mind I get the basics of 3e (3.5) D&D but haven't played or GM'd it, is it a game that's 'sort of like' playing tabletop Pathfinder or 'run to a, get/kill this, run to b, sell/deliver that, repeat'? The times when I formed a party in WOW it was like a swarm of piranha when it came to a fight, a grouped mass converging on one enemy, then another, and so on.

Re: Pathfinder Online
This is an open sandbox game, instead of the usual theme park "do A then B then C" type MMOs. You join villages and companies. You craft, hunt for resources, kill some monsters for resources. Trade and make war with other settlements. Other than a few opening quests, there is no real quests in the game. Dungeons will be added later as this is still a developing game. Trade is slowly being added in as well.
XP is not based on what you kill or do but are time based, you get 100 xp per hour regardless of what you do or not do, even while logged off.
You really can't solo this game beyond doing some hunting and gathering; it's important to be a part of a company that's linked to a village. I can send you an invite if you want to look it over for 15 days free. Or you can wait a bit for more things to be added to the game.
My village, Stoneroot Glade, has its website at www.kabalgaming.com. Stop by there if you want to learn more about the game. Ask lots of questions. I'm on as Bunibuni.
