The War Room, Bletchley Park

There were a few glances as Sky Eagle followed Slobotham into the war room. Most were full of admiration for the sacrifice and bravery that Sky Eagle had shown on his heroic mission into occupied France, battling through Nazi forces and plucking the French General, De Gaulle, from certain death to return him to the shores of Britain. Though the man had been distraught at being saved from danger only for his men to die, he continued his duty - by sending coded word over the wireless to the growing resistance movement in France!

Now though, the Nazis had turned their attentions to Britain. Over the summer period wave after wave of German fighters had been rebuffed by the RAF and by the special powers of the Vanguard, including General Wynn and his awesome powers over the storm, but Wynn was an old man, despite his incredible power!

For the most part he had to rest these days, having overtaxed himself, but he still maintained that uncanny link with the weather, and formed an 'early warning system' over Britain, a sonar in tune with his thoughts that told whenever a large object cut through the air.

Now as Sky Eagle watched the war room attendants - men and women - move markers about on the table showing the whole of the British Isles, it became clear that he would be needed again.

General Forbes looked like he'd been days without sleep. He sighed, accepting a cup of tea and walked over to where the bandaged Sky Eagle stood. "No time for parades and medal ceremonies son. Jerry has something new. It flies too high for AA guns and faster than a Spitfire. It's so big it dwarfs the Ark Royal, our biggest ship*, can you believe that? Oh, I know you've faced Zeppelins, but this thing beggars belief! We have Anyman, Lionheart, Guillotine, Bulletman and NoMan in London, trying to stop one. Reports are they downed the thing, amazingly enough. However it spewed a bunch of killer robots that are closing in on London. Spartan and Frostbot are en route to their position in a V-Ship. Boadicea is still recovering from her wounds. We can have a pilot drop you off at Glasgow, Manchester or Birmingham, your choice."

"To do what? Look at him!" spluttered Slobotham. "You must be off ya bloody rocker man!"

Forbes darkened "RANK, DAMMIT!"

The War room went silent.

"Sir." muttered Slobotham. "But what is he going to do against one of those?"

Forbes sighed, then patted a hand on Slobothams shoulder. "You have a point. Sky Eagle. Do whatever you can to slow down or delay them. They are targeting our biggest manufacturing cities. We need - somehow - to stop them. I don't know how - we scrambled fighters but they can't fly high or fast enough to catch the bloody things! Only the V-Ship is quick enough. That's not a problem, but these things are armed to the teeth! If they spew out a bunch of those robots...."

"Disaster." muttered Slobotham, shock on his face.

General Wynn came up "Whichever one you take, I will try and slow the other two down. And Slobbie, mind ya bloody impudence, ya young pup!"

Sky Eagle looked at the map. Impending doom? No hope? Who will save us now? Sounded like another normal day in the life of

OOC Your choice - Glasgow, Manchester, Birmingham. Only makes a difference because you might end up hooking up with Lionheart or the others.

*HMS Ark Royal will be sunk, in game time, in the next year (when we move into 1941) but is still operational and effective at this time.

Sky Eagle took it all in and assessed the situation. " Sir I will take Manchester. If those robots were to get ground side there they could move either to Glasgow or Birmingham from that position and reinforce the two locations from the ground. I will need some explosives as well something with a short timer would be great but not too short I've had my fill of getting my feathers scorched."

With that he moved over to Wynn "sir could I have a moment of your time." when they were alone "Sir while I was over France I used my powers a number of times and called the dark force forward which was thrilling and scary at the same time. I also felt soemthing else... its hard to explain but when I'm airborne I feel the wind, its move and flow, bujt theres more there just out of reach... I don't know its like if I could grasp it I could control the very winds I ride... It sounds silly but you with your weather powers I was wondering if my ability to fly was allowing me to start being able to control the wind."

OOC: I will buy weather control with my new grade if thats ok I think I'd like to start being able to do some of the things Wynn can do and it sems to fit in with my character too.

Wynn raised an eyebrow whilst a DICE agent hurried off to get supplies for Sky Eagle. "Indeed? Well young fellow, let's... ah yes!" His eyes lit up. "If you'll just ignore what I'm about to do..." and with that Wynn placed a hand lightly on Sky Eagles forehead.

The wind, howling through the trees, spattering of rain against windows, mild temperatures, despite the supposed summer months...

"You are indeed correct! All I did was 'tickle' your mind, and free up that which was already in there! Whether I could do such a thing in future is unclear - I gave you your powers, but to be honest they became your own when the Dark Power latched onto you. That said, because I was the one who granted you the abilities in the first place makes it easier for me to see your true potential, if I know where to look. I suppose you could call me an expert on the weather, so I know."

Forbes came forward. "Damned if you two haven't been on the gin already. I bally well don't have a clue what goes on around here, and I'm in charge!" With a sigh he continued. "We're already scrambling what planes we have available - most are stationed in the south to repel an invasion from the Nazis. Truth told I'm loathe to send them against this thing. By all accounts its a flying battleship. BIGGER than any battleship. Sky Eagle, it's your call, but you may want to hook up with the main team. Anyman, Lionheart, Bulletman, NoMan, Guillotine, Gravity Girl, Spartan and Frostbot are in London. They can swing by to collect you and perhaps split up into teams. They took down the carrier heading to the capital in short order. No surprise really, seeing as Lionheart is the nearest thing we have to the ultimate superhuman and Anyman is so damned good at killing Nazis. Wish I knew where the others were. It's your call. Otherwise we can get you in a V-Ship and dropped off in the path of this thing.. It's going to fly over Ireland shortly."

OOC Depends on your posting rate I guess - if You think you can keep up with the others, feel free to join in the group game. If not, we'll continue solo and go from there. No problem either way. I've been struggling to get near a computer whilst the kids have been off so I completely understand about real life demands - your call Smile Will update the character sheet.

World War II - Sky Eagle Issue III Empty Re: World War II - Sky Eagle Issue III

Post  Admin Sun Feb 19 2012, 22:30

Peeler 16, Adrian Blake, stood watching the progress of the ground zip past underneath the belly of the V-Ship

This thing was astounding, beyond the dreams of any science fiction writer. And it was crewed by little green men! He chuckled. Nothing he'd seen or done previously in his Majestys Secret Service qualified or prepared him for this. When the DICE lot had recruited him, he was cynical, but had answered the call.

Now he knew that the impossible wasn't just achievable, but was in fact, routine, for these people. He watched as one of them - Sky Eagle - stood on the bridge of the V-Ship looking at a holographic map of the United Kingdom.

"Amazing isn't it. All this?" said Blake. He was in his early forties, powerfully built, an expert in hand to hand and gun combat. Fluent in five languages, able to open just about any lock, get into and out of just about anywhere without detection. He was - justly - proud of his accomplishments, for they'd come at the expense of any normal life. A failed marriage, never staying in one place long enough to settle down, a dedication to the job that went beyond any material reward. And yet what good was he in this situation? Come to think of it, what good was the Eagle/Man hybrid on the bridge?

It didn't matter. Evil prospered whilst good men - and women - stood idle.

One of the other Peelers, a second tier agent in the 101-200 range, recently introduced and only staffed up to about 130, called over. "Sirs. Visual. On... uh, screen."

Everyone was adapting to life aboard the V-Ship. There were amazing sights and sounds every day to be uncovered. This topped them all.

The flying enemy carrier measured a kilometre in length, a line in the sky until magnified, then its true scale was uncovered. Unlike the first one over London, this did not have air cover. It didn't need it. The spiralling smoke plumes from Spitfires that had come within range of its guns - whilst being outside of their own guns range - stood no chance at all. Still, gallantly, they attacked again and again, coming from every angle save the top one - they couldn't fly fast or high enough to attack from above. They only got one run as well - the carrier was either out of range after that or shot them out of the sky.

"Our boys are getting cut up." muttered Blake. "Damn! What's the plan, Sky Eagle? The weapons and shields on this will give us a better chance than our RAF boys, but not by much longer. The only thing I see of being an advantage is that you're small and will be harder to spot. Even so, what are a satchel full of bombs going to do against that?"

Post  jamat Mon Feb 20 2012, 21:47

Sky Eagle turned from the screen when Blake asked his question. "Well they are aware we can only attack from below so their attention is focused in that direction. This ship can go high so I suggest we attack from above...." He took a deep breath "...OK I can attack from above."

"If we go high I can drop fast and go under their radar make contact hopefully secure the bombs and drop off before the fuse burns my wings" He looks round at the gathered men and women "... Don't look at me like that I'm no bloody hero but I can't think of anything else.... any other suggestion will be well received."

Blake sighed. "It sounds like you're willing to commit suicide. I've read the file, what they show me of it, and every mission you've been on proves you go above and beyond the call of duty. However, that thing... it's enormous! Unless you hit it at a specific point, its bridge or control centre, whatever passes for it, anything else will simply damage the outer hull, which as over 2/3rds of a mile long is rather like throwing a drawing pin at a whale. For sure, the pin might sting if you threw it hard enough, but unless you hit it in the eye, it's not really going to notice. THAT thing is like that."

He turned. "Battle stations!" he declared, the room darkened, lit by a red glow. Skrall technicians scurried about, whilst nervous DICE agents waited at consoles they barely understood.

'Their fear. It is delicious. But not enough. Call on the Dark Power and ... it may help. I have another plan though you may not like it much.'
said the Dark Power inside Sky Eagles head.

'Attack the city you are heading to protect. Make the people terrified! Make them fear you, hate you, scorn you. Then you will have the power you need to save them.'

Sky Eagle looked out of the window "Get this through that thick head of yours you evil arrogant son of a bitch I will never, never use the power you offer to terrify inocent people. You can have your fill of those filthy nazis in that ship if you give me the power to destroy it... think of all that fear as I rip them apart.... until then keep out of my head." he thought as the ship sped on.

"Blake if you would like to accompany me on this little sunday outing then feel free I understand you are good at getting into things perhaps you could get me in and together we can find the heart of the beast."

He turned and looked the commander in the eye "but if you come I will be honest with you people tend to die round me"

World War II - Sky Eagle Issue III Empty Re: World War II - Sky Eagle Issue III

Post  Admin Tue Feb 21 2012, 23:38

The echo of evil laughter rang through Sky Eagles head.

'There are no living beings in that vessel, mortal. Your power is limited against them. But mine? Mine knows no limits, but I need to be FED!' laughed the voice.

Blake nodded to Sky Eagle, and turned to the helm. "Come in fast and high. Shields to maximum at the front. If you can target anything that looks like a weapon, do so. I suggest we make a strafing run, see what happens, then double back and bail out. We have... half a dozen trained commandos and some of these alien explosives we can use. We don't know exactly how much damage they will do, but we won't go down without a fight!"

The vast flying carrier loomed large in the screen.

"Any last words or advice?" asked Blake as he strapped on a Jet Pack in the hold of the V-Ship. Half a dozen agents strapped theirs on, with strings of Lunarium grenades across their chests. The tiny spheres packed a massive punch as far as they knew, but had never been tested. They would make a mess... or not work at all...

OOC Any plan, or simply 'drop out' and make for the deck or conning tower of the huge air carrier? As you get closer, the going will get very rough! There's also the words of the Shadow to think about. It can boost your abilities, but if you want to wipe this thing out, you'll need to do something you don't want to do...Sometimes its not only hard being a hero... it's downright murder...

"OK I want to get us in and out in one piece this time so I will go in and draw the fire while they are focused on me you and your team droip in and set the charges. I will give you as much time as possible."

He extended his hand to Blake "if the going gets too touch don't be a hero get out of there.... There's only enough room for one stupid ass in this ship and that ass is covered in feathers...Good luck"

Withthat Sky Eagle took a bag of charges and headed for the hanger doors.

World War II - Sky Eagle Issue III Empty Re: World War II - Sky Eagle Issue III

Post  Admin Mon Mar 05 2012, 16:29

Sky Eagle got nods and hand shakes from the human crew as he headed for the hanger doors. The Skralls merely went about their business, 4' tall green skinned lizard aliens with cybernetic implants were hardly the chattiest of companions anyway. They would have their work cut out to keep the V-Ship flying as it skirted perilously close to the intense flak fire and tracer that filled the sky in the ships path and warned more conventional airplanes away.

When the doors opened, the howl of wind was drowned out by constant explosions and the rolling thunder of large calibre guns being fired.

The ship was enormous, easily dwarfing anything man made Sky Eagle had seen before, and that included Big Ben and the houses of Parliament! Brushing that thought from his mind he leapt forth, spread wings then when away from the ship, pulled them in to achieve his steepest, fastest dive! All about, the air rung with explosions, and some came close - by now the computers on the ships had been informed that their enemy would not come en masse. Armies, they were set up to deal with and eradicate, but single beings with the power of armies? That was another matter! Even so, as he sped through the clouds, speed of flight making him squint, he began flying through the thickest of barrage fire!

OOC The robo carrier is firing blind, but there are so many guns it's not a problem. There will be half a dozen shots that potentially strike Sky Eagle as he flies in. The target number to hit will be a straight roll of 18 or more, which sounds a lot, but every hit will reduce the roll required by 2, cumulative, as Sky Eagle is slowed and the guns find it easier to train on him. A disaster would be the first shot hitting. Damage is x3, -2DD and all HTK. 2d10=6, 2d10=16, 2d10=17, 2d10=11, 2d10=12, 2d10=7. All miss and no doubles! Lucky...

Sky Eagle weaved left and right, wings trailing and covering the pack of explosives as best he could! One shot came close (OOC the 17) and he moved sharply to the left, then straightened and continued to the deck of the enormous robo carrier. Behind him, the V-Ship fared less well, with a strike directly onto its side which caused it to veer into the path of two more hits almost immediately! He didn't see what happened after that, as he unfurled his wings and flapped furiously to slow and land on the deck...

Where, immediately, half a dozen hatches opened and steel skinned automatons, human shaped but without thought, feeling or mercy, rose and started marching towards him! The hatches they'd come from slowly started to close behind them...

OOC Robots 5, Sky Eagle 3 for initiative. They move towards Sky Eagle (1fr) and need 1 frame more to reach him to engage in melee. Their hands are buzzing, and crackle occasionally with electricity. Sky Eagle has 4 frames, he's stood on the enormous (four or five football fields long, two wide) deck of the robo carrier. About 300m away is the enormous conning tower. There are thousands of heavy calibre weapons dotting the sides of the ship, and it has a hull that can travel on water. The anti gravity engine that powers it has huge engine vents out back, which are far too hot and dangerous to go near! Over to you.

Post  jamat Mon Mar 05 2012, 19:00

Sky Eagle surveyed the hull of the ship. It was tto big for his explosives to cause exessive damage unless he found a vital area and not knowing the layout he didn't want to waste what little he had.

Seeing the hatches opne and the robotic men start coming out he realized even he didn't have much chance against all of them but he wasn't ready to let losse the demons of war quite yet. Seeing the conns tower gave him an idea. Perhaps that was what controlled the robots. Ok he thought with a rye smile to many comic books as a kid anyway it might just be true christ he was half man half bird anything was possible. At the very least it would knock their communications out.

With a quick glance arround he started to run towards the tower as he got close the the closest robots he jumped high unfirled his wings and with one strong downward beat took tothe air above their heads and headed to the halfway point up the tower.

Post  Admin Tue Mar 06 2012, 17:17

Sky Eagle soared through the air, explosions going off in the air nearby as the V-Ship ran what interference it could. Finally that could take no more damage, and peeled off, but Sky Eagle made it in one piece to hover alongside the conning tower. It was huge, vast! It would probably be around the size - or slightly bigger than - Big Ben, and looking at his explosives he wondered what effect they would have?

'Foolish mortal. You are brave, but bravery does not help you when your enemies outgun you and outnumber you thousands to one! Unleash me!' said the Dark Power within!

Several spheres 'popped' from the skin of the conning tower, all around 2m across, shining steel. They twisted open, becoming two hemispheres linked by a thick beam of energy that crackled and made the air smell of ozone. Then the spheres turned on their sides, and started flying towards Sky Eagle, moving further apart and spreading the energy beam into a 2m high 'sheet' of blue crackling energy! The three robots headed straight for Sky Eagle!

OOC Your guess is that they intend to fly on either side and the energy beam in the middle wash over you. You can't imagine it will be anything less than deadly! The Robo Carrier is nearing the outskirts of Manchester now, and slowing...

Sky Eagle saw the spheres and sighed why couldn't life be simple just for once, he thought but then had an idea.

He needed time to set the explosives in his backpack but these little things flying towards him could be of use.

moving to hover in front of the comms tower Sky Eagle held his breath and waited. If he timed it right hopefully the weapons would do as much damage to the tower as he hoped he could.

He waited and waited watching the spheres getting closer and closer at the very lst minute Sky Eagle folded up his wings and dropped like a stone hoping his sudden movement out manouvred the spheres and they would continue on into the tower in front of them

Post  Admin Tue Mar 13 2012, 17:37

Crashing to the deck of the Robo Carrier, Sky Eagle looked up as one... two... of the robots crashed into the tower! The ship itself activated some kind of defence that discharged energy into the robots. Whilst the robots weren't harmed by that, the energy field between them was completely shorted out, so that the robots fell apart into two halves, clattering onto the deck as useless metal! Almost immediately, small football sized pods popped from the deck, grew legs like metallic spiders, and scurried over to start 'eating' the downed robots, to ingest them and reabsorb them into the carrier!

The final robot swooped down and around, and came at Sky Eagle!

OOC Effectively, it's an area attack against DC10. Roll 16+DC10+WC2-17=Hit for 11 accuracy, x3 htk damage, reduced by (reduced) dividers to 16Htk damage. Sky Eagle is on 71/87Htk

The halves passed on either side and Sky Eagle cried out as he lit up like a christmas tree! They swooped up and around, ready to make another pass! With his skin raw and reddened, he opened his bunched arms and saw the explosives were still in one piece - he'd taken the hit instead of them, and probably stopped them from going off!

Glancing nearby, he saw the recycling spider bots nibbling away at the broken robots, dozens of the things. They appeared to be ignoring him though, so he only had the last robot flying at him to worry about! He heard the whine of crashing planes as several other RAF planes met their end in an attempt to stop the carrier!

The flying robot was incoming, and getting closer!

Sky Eagle felt like he'd just been hit by a bolt of lightning but he gritted his teeth and ducked low to make himself as small a target as he could.

At the same time he grabbed a hand full of the small robots and turning he flung then towards the incoming spheres. It was a gamble he hoped would pay off and give him some breathing space. He was hoping that the maintenance robots would try to disassemble the flying spheres.

Sky Eagle
92/92htc
71/87htk
4 hero Points
Dark power xp 4/5

Sky Eagle tossed a handful of the scuttling spider-like robots into the path of the oncoming killer bot! Three frazzled instantly as they touched the energy field, whilst one struck one hemisphere and instantly got to work, chewing its way into the side of the thing! Sky Eagle fell back, covering his face as it soared inches over his head, then smashed into the deck, tumbled and exploded!

He grinned, but the smile faded as more spheres popped from the deck, forming into more killer robots! He counted five... six... Worse than that, he saw the ship was slowing now and almost over the centre of Manchester! Below the ship the hull split down the middle and great doors started to open...

Sky Eagle scrambled to his feet then paused. A five foot tall figure, clad in head to foot in black, with black full face mask and hood appeared, from Nowhere, to stand in front and to the side of Sky Eagle, whilst glancing at the oncoming robots.

Friend or Foe? And why was this dwarf unconcerned about the incoming robots?

World War II - Sky Eagle Issue III Robots

OOC no worries about real life issues. Had a few myself lately. You have a mysterious short, slim black clad figure stood nearby, half a dozen deadly robots rushing at you, the ship is poised over Manchester and about to spill thousands of robots down on the populace. Fun times...

At the moment Sky Eagle was more concerned about the spheres than the robot as he felt he could just jump off and get away from the tin man if he turned out to be hostile.

The spheres were a different thing as they could follow him. Grabbing up one of the fallen tin men that had first attacked him he swung it round like a club towards the fast approaching balls of energy hoping to hit at least some of them off target to give him time to jump down one of the open hatches and into the bowls of the ship.

Sky Eagle and Nowhere Boy

Grabbing up a smashed robot Sky Eagle swung it like a club, battering one of the robots aside and sending it slamming into the deck! He scanned about and cursed! The thing was sealed up tight, and there was no way in!

Nowhere Boy tutted, theatrically, and glanced to the side as a robot swept a hand through him! Confused, the machine didn't notice the boys face hardening. "I swore I'd never do this again. I wanted others to take on the role I was too weak to play. Looks like what I want doesn't count..."

Though the voice was squeaky and young the words, and how they were spoken, was of a person older, more experienced, haunted by a lifetime of failure.

"I am the Dark Prince!" bellowed a voice from within the folds of the hood. "Bow before my power, robots!"
Sky Eagle spun. What in the world...?

The boy shuddered, then turned tangible! A robot backhanded him, and stared dumbfounded as its arm was destroyed from the elbow on! The boy turned his head back, slowly. "Foolish bot" he murmured. He reached with casual slowness to the deck, then punched his hand clean through the forcefield into the metal beyond!

The ship shuddered...

A blue field wavered and crackled across its vast bulk! The robots stopped what they were doing and turned to face Sky Eagle and Nowhere Boy where they stood on the deck! Nowhere Boy looked up "Sky Eagle. Time to stop mucking about. Inside you is the power to turn the negative emotions of mankind about and use them for good! You should beware though. When you deal with the devil you climb down into its pit. Careful his evil doesn't rub off on you..." he added, voice trailing off.

Then the youngster took a handful of metal from the deck and pulled.

Then entire ship, about half a million tons of metal a thousand metres long and several hundreds metres high, a couple of hundred metres across, shuddered, then kinked in the middle! It resembled an upside down V as it plummeted towards the city of Manchester!

Hundreds of robots spilled from the open hold towards the city below.

"Sky Eagle. Get clear. Remember what I said. The Dark Power is a tool. Don't let it take over you, as it has done me, time and again." he said. A robot trundled up, pointed a blaster point blank into his face and blasted! When the glow faded, Nowhere Boys mask and hood had been blown off, revealing a youngster with tousled hair and haunted eyes!

"You have to do better than that, robot..." growled the youngster...

Sky Eagle looked at the child. He had red glowing eyes, and when he backhanded the robot into the air and clean into orbit like a blazing comet, he was unsure quite what was going on - the boy had turned up to help him, hadn't he? What on earth would he do next, and how could Sky Eagle help - or stop such a being?

World War II - Sky Eagle Issue III Empty Re: World War II - Sky Eagle Issue III

Post  jamat Wed Apr 25 2012, 21:25

Sky Eagle looked at the young boy in fear at the casual way he used his dark power. A shudder went though him at the sudden change in the childs personality as the power took hold and came to the fore before the boy took control of his mind again, pushing the evil inside him back.

"Thank you for your help in protecting the country and this city." Sky Eagle Saluted the boy and jumped into the air as the ship fell away from underneath him.

He flow clear and watched the monsterous craft fall to earth. Suddenly he realized that where the ship hit there maybe injured that would need saving so he folded his wings around himself and dropped down after the vessel.

World War II - Sky Eagle Issue III Empty Re: World War II - Sky Eagle Issue III

Post  Admin Wed Apr 25 2012, 23:02

With a massive chunk of metal resembling a small mountain tumbling through the air towards the city below, Sky Eagle knew that whatever he did would only matter in the same way a blade of grass mattered on a mountains side! Unless of course, he called on the Dark power!

He heard the youngster shout out again. "What are you doing, you fool! Get clear! Get clear or... use the power!"

Sky Eagle could somehow feel the terror emanating from the city below as they stared at the doom falling towards them! When it struck, a giant fireball would rush outwards, killing every living things for miles! The buildings would be flattered, the sky would turn bright white then darkness would fall as quickly as the light had appeared, as dust and debris was thrown into the sky in a giant cloud! He knew all of this, and knew that he could call upon those human emotions, turn that raw emotion into energy he could use, channel it, and somehow try to save the city!

Nowhere Boy hung back, following Sky Eagle at a short distance. "You can save them." he said. "But you need to dig deep! You need to learn to control the power and ensure it does not ... does not control you..." he added, his voice trailing off.

OOC No problems on the posting rate front - we all have real lives to juggle with other commitments piled on top before gaming gets a look in. The only real sticking point is that we're coming to a turning point in the game. After 3 years the game is heading towards a radical change so *if* that happens (there's no guarantee - I only have a vague roadmap for the game and there's no forcing anyone to follow it) I may have to wrap things in Sky Eagles thread and move him on. We're not at that stage yet, but it's just a heads up. The Lore Knights game might be more suited to solo adventuring because its outside Vanguard continuity and we play all sorts of different systems though hopefully have settled on one. Anyway, just a heads up. The Robo Carrier is plummeting towards Manchester and about to destroy the entire city. If Sky Eagle does use the Dark power, he'll have to get plenty of Dark Power points in order to affect something of this size, and probably come up with an imaginative use of the power. Simply getting extra strength and trying to hold up 1/2 a million tons will cause the thing to break into thousands of pieces and rain down on the hapless people of Manchester anyway... your call...

OOC:Moving to the Lore Knights might be good for me due to my haphazard posting.

What system(s) are you using?

I will try using the dark power ..... Perhaps if I get enough I could get teleport and shift it to another location or even into spac
e?

World War II - Sky Eagle Issue III Empty Re: World War II - Sky Eagle Issue III

OOC With regards the Lore Knights game, we're using a house ruled version of the old DC Heroes (MEGs) game. Instead of 2D10 and look at a table, it's 2D10 opposed roll or beat a target number. Each point on the 'Measurement Point' scale doubles in value, so a Flight of 5 moves up to twice as fast as flight 4, and so on. Effort points replace hero points and allow you to roll extra dice when attempting an action, then pick two dice to use and dump the rest.

Example:

Sky Eagle (Agility: 6, Strength:8, Combat Skill: 15) attacks a Nazi Supervillain (Agility: 5, Strength: 10, Combat Skill: 11). Initiative is rolled (2D10 plus Combat Skill, Sky Eagle goes first and decides to punch bad guy (Dice action) then move away (Automatic action). He adds 3 Effort points to the attack roll, and gets 6,9 then 9,2,2. We take the double 9 (18) and dump the rest, plus get to roll an extra 2D10 because the dice 'exploded'. They come up 3,7 (10) for a total of 28 rolled plus Combat Skill (15) for a total of 43. Nazi rolled 10,7 (17) + Combat Skill (11) for a total of 28. There's 15 points difference, which hits and gives Sky Eagle a damage bonus of 5 points (one for every 3 points rolled). He rolls 2D10 + 5 + Strength 6 vs Nazis 2D10 + Body stat + tough Skin power. Any difference is taken as damage from the Nazis Health.

Might look more complicated than it is. Basically roll some dice, add bonuses, compare against target. I'll sort all that out anyway, so you'd only need to spend effort points to increase chances of getting a decent dice roll.

It's a work in progress and things can/do change in the write up I'm doing. It's based on the DC heroes game but with quite a lot of changes. If you played that game before it will seem familiar but there are enough changes to make the game our own.

Back to the situation at hand...

Sky Eagle watched the Robo Carrier, all half a mile long and countless tons of it, head towards the city! Calling on the Dark Power, he knew it was now or never!

OOC So, the problem is you haven't used the Dark Power enough to get really experienced with its use, and that means you'll need plenty of points to even make a dent in this things fall. I would *suggest* calling for, say, 15 points and using a hero point. You only get to use 6 Ego (1/2 ego) until you gain Dark Power level 1 (which you will after this use if successful). So it's 6 vs 15, plus a bunch of dice. Here goes... For Sky Eagle... 5,5 (Double!) plus 2,2 (Double again!) plus 3,4 (total roll 21, Total with ego 27). The Dark Power gets 2,8 (10) plus 15 = 25... No Hero point needed... Dark Power points to sped are 6,4,8,9,8,5,10,2,4,8,6,2,6,1,5 (84 points). That's enough to pay for Grade 5 Teleportation (20 for first grade, 15 each for the next four grades). Sky Eagle can fly down to within 20m of the carrier, then concentrate, pay 15-40htc (depending on how far he wants the thing gone) and teleport it to somewhere else... I have to admit, before the dice rolls I thought it a long shot whether he would make it, and didn't doctor the rolls in any way because it would have made an interesting twist if the Dark Power had taken over Sky Eagle... Anyway, he's Dark power level 1 now and gets to count his full ego in future checks.

OOC off the top of my head Sky Eagle would look something like:

World War II - Sky Eagle Issue III Sky_Eagle_Lore_Knights

That's without doing the costs (its point buy, but nowhere near as fiddly as say, Hero or Mutants and Masterminds systems). Of course, there's no restriction on keeping with the same character if you fancied a change either.
