Re: My posting rate...
Just a quicky - updates tomorrow. Had a busy last couple of days (12+ hours) and kids are off school so no rest/time to sit down at computer for the wicked.
Not shown on photo, me
The arrow points to the direction of my train, some 100 feet or so to the right of where that was taken. Fire Engine clobbered the bridge (Monday) and I was the next train. Stopped/blocked up the station with my train (about a 1/4 of a mile long) and got the 'good news' from the signaller that, yes, the line was blocked in front, and there were trains stacked up behind. Yippee. Did 13 hours
All was ok again today (aside from the emergency 5mph speed restriction on the track) so hope the fireman who was injured is ok.
Happy days Anyway getting near to normal over next few days - shifts nowhere near as bad.
Cheers, Paul

I'm in for the long haul. Can't find any new players for the game though. Wish I could find some.

Re: My posting rate...
Rounded off (what was for me, with looking after kid then immediately going to work) an 80-90 hour week with a 14 hour stretch on the train last night, BUT I am on more reasonable shifts next week (still 12 hour but in bed at normal human being times) and have 2 days off (looking after kid, but hey, days off!) so:
1) I want to wrap up Lionheart and the Vanguard
2) Get the Lore knights properly up and running against the cultists and mysterious chinese villain
3) Get characters knocked out for a replacment Vanguard game (either new ones or same guys, stats updated for a new game, your choice).
Just to reiterate - I want to GM as long as you guys are willing to hang in there, and could do with an extra player or two to fill out the group unless everyone fancies taking on two characters (Dave E I know you've been running two for years)
Anyway, I'd better go have a shower, get back to the land of the living and promise updates tonight (Saturday evening)
Thanks again chaps!
Cheers, Paul

Re: My posting rate...
Yeah, the modified DC rules seem to work fine for most things. Better than GH.

Admin wrote:DC Rules? Entirely up to you guys - I plan to give a list of choices (DC, Golden Heroes, any other system you fancy). The RPG system doesn't really make that much difference, save in combat and to determine success/failure at tasks.I'm open to suggestions, but I think the DC Rules (as played in the Lore Knights game) would suit from street level upwards and get rid of the problems you get when long term characters play Golden Heroes - despite being experienced and powerful in their own right, they are street level, at most (and sewer level in terms of movement speed... don't get me started on that...)
Will be updating (in order) Lionheart, Lore Knights, Vanguard games and see what I can get done tonight. Sat in a queue in Drax power station with 3 trains in front of me, so should get quite a bit done...
I'm happy to go with the DC rules for all the reasons listed here. I thought we'd already begun to do it in any case, simply because the power levels were so high.

BTW, are we shifting over to the DC rules after the epilog?

Re: My posting rate...
Update later this... uh, day, shift. Tomorrow morning. Anyway, body clock all over place thanks to lousy shifts and 12 hours between means work and sleep and no time for much else. Hope you all had a good new years eve (and xmas before that!) Mine was spent on a train On Passenger trains we used to get paid extra for working on holidays, on these it's just another ordinary day
Anyway, last shift to *grind* through then a week off, so intend to put a wrap to the current campaign. When that's done, we have a few decisions to take as the next direction of the game...?

No worries mate, glad to know you are at the other end and its just real life catching up with you, as opposed to something more critical going on, is good.

Re: My posting rate...
Yup, they let me know I'd not gotten the job. A guy went for an 'informal chat' a couple of days before the interview started. Turns out he was a friend of the manager doing the interviews and they spent their weekends driving steam trains. He got the job, the rest of us made up the numbers and made it look legit One of the guys who went for an interview was semi-promised a job when the next round of vacancies came up, but had no idea when that might be. That will probably entail a bunch of guys going for a meaningless interview as well...
I took some valuable info from the whole process though - I wasn't good enough on the day, didn't want the job enough (at least until after I'd left, when I was kicking myself), and preparation is key. Looking after a toddler is not the ideal preparation for a potentially long term commitment to a job, but hey, at the end of the day I lost nothing save an afternoon and a few days (the days I actually managed to get some revision done).
Next time I'll be better

Did you ever hear back from the job whose interview you thought you bombed?

Re: My posting rate...
I'm not dead/abducted by aliens, just had a couple of days AWOL from a computer of any kind (every time I thought I had a chance to sit down the forces of work/children/friends wanting favours/family/evil/family giving me favours for other people to sort out (like fixing an Ipod) intervened. I mean, eh? Come on... I fixed it, but sometimes, I tell ya... 5 minutes google and pressing a few buttons and its done. Sometimes I just... nngh...)
Anyway, updates tonight
Anyway, updates tonight
Re: My posting rate...
Will be updating tomorrow. Been a rubbish week for time without being pestered by kids (and I can't remember actually having a lunch break all week at work, just one of those weeks). Thanks for your patience as usual chaps.
Re: My posting rate...
Apologies for the flakey posting rate this week - work as usual. Off to a car show all day saturday (back late saturday night) so if not up to date late saturday will be by Sunday (18th) latest. Cheers!
Re: My posting rate...
Just got one night shift to grind through then will get up to date. I intend to 'jump' us all to a place where light can be seen at the end of the tunnel - real life has dragged my posting rate down so I hope no one minds this attempt to get us back on track. Cheers, Paul
